Mahrez | Signed with City

Also Pep is a great coach but he's such a cheque book manager.

Why do they need him?

Theyre coasting the league as it is, and they’ll beat Basel in next round of CL comfortably. By then Sane will be back anyway, plus they have Bernardo Silva.

This is a transfer I really hope happens for 60m-80m. Mahrez isn't world class. He's a top player when on form, but nowhere near consistent enough and I'm willing to bet a Kenwood Juicer that he declines within a season or two and fecks off to China.

He needs to play now, especially considering his place in the NT.

Bernardo has a guaranteed spot in the Portuguese National Team lol. He doesn't need to play every game to impress Fernando Santos. Have you seen the recent Portugal NT? He's their best attacking player next to Ronaldo!

I’m guessing from the state of this thread you all don’t know Foden is out long term?

Anyway on the Mahrez topic, I don’t want him.

If I were LCFC I'd try to fleece them. City have shitloads of money, it's the last day of the transfer window, Mahrez has been in great form for Leicester, there's no real alternatives for City. It's a perfect storm.

They should push for 9 figures.

He's not all that. Skillful player with poor attitude and decision making.

 He's being praised by his manager for keeping his head down and having a good attitude.

His decision making is arguably what makes him so good. Has pace, but it's his decision making that makes him good.

Overall he's a great buy for City if it goes through. Would fit Pep perfectly. He's the same type of player as Sterling, Sane and the wings he had at Bayern, who he moulded into great players.

I don't think they (Pep) see B.Silva as a wide forward. I think he's pencilled for the D.Silva role.

he's been involved in more goals than Hazard or Coutinho since we got promoted in an inferior side
He just had a freak season like all the Leicester team. Also, Hazard has had a rough time during that period.

How close are City to not being able to register everyone in their 25?

Is it possible that they're looking to move on either David or Bernardo Silva at the end of the season? Surely even City won't pay £50m+ for short term injury cover.

Apparently his wages will be £900k a week (Yes irritating isn't it City fans) In all seriousness, fair play to him if he has handed in a transfer request, I get annoyed when I hear players want to leave a club but won't hand in a transfer request because they want their loyalty bonus.

that accounted for around 25 goals he either scored or assisted, he's higher than both over 3 years, you're saying he's not all that as it looks like City might sign him but it's ridiculous

 Reminds me of Football Manager where I'd refuse to sell the player and stick them in the Reserves to rot.

Raheem Sterling probably needs to leave, doesn't he.

We should have bought Mahrez - He is ready made for us - no one else in our squad seems naturally a fit on the right and he can beat people on the dribble in tight spaces. Defensively he is better than Mata (although Mata has improved significantly). We have enough games that they would all be kept pretty happy. Would he be eligible for CL this year for us? I think you can only add one from another euro competition but I don't recall if Leicester did.

That’s just not true

Right, so the link you posted says IF he is unfocused. And this was from when he was in the last days of the transfer window. He doesn't say that he is unprofessional, just issues a warning.

After this he praised him:

The have a huge lead in the PL.. CL next round is Basel, with Jesus most likely to come back by then..

Sane is supposed to be out for 6 weeks,Bernado Silva on the bench.. I just don't see how he is justified to go for Mahrez now..

I hope Leicester fleeces the,, Would be funny f they end up with the same transfer value of Sanchez for Mahrez now..

Looking at this, maybe Pep wpuldn't have worked for us.. Surely we don't have a bottomless supply of funds to buy players..

Myth of the highest order. Busquets and who else?

It is not easy to bring these youngsters into the first team. It needs lots of confidence and courage to do so. Surely, Guardiola had his role in development of BUsquets, Pedro, Bartra, Sergi Roberto, Thiago, Duelofou, and now we can likes of Zinchenko, diaz and foden. Case can be made we might not have never seen them play under other managers like Pellegrini.

What must Foden be thinking about all of this? Just seen that his contract will be up in summer 2020. Hopefully he doesn't renew it and walks for free...........across the city to us.

Well they lost their faces a little bit after the Sanchez deal, and they needed to bounce back.

And apart from that, why not? Really. Their owners are earning incredible amount of money by one of the most easiest ways in the world to do so. They won't lose their purchasing power by throwing another 50-60 million on a player, anyway. Their owners probably want to be recognized by the whole world and what better way to show up on the stage during Champions League final ceremony?

I know United's also spending incredible sums of money. But, I fell in love with United not because they were one of the most successful teams in the world. I fell in love with them because they give chances to their youth. Just in one of the worst periods in club's history we managed to get two players out of our academy and next year we will probably have two more in TFM and Pereira.

Anyway, congrats to City, I guess.

Yeah, let's not slate the player because he's going to city.

He's an excellent player, he was professional in his time at leicester. his form didn't drop this year even after he couldn't get his move in the summer.

City are getting a good player. they're paying too much for him as he was available for less before but that's their problem. as for the player, well he has a chance to join a bigger club than leicester. he'll play champions league and he'll be paid generously to do so.

Surely it's only a matter of time before he leaves Leicester, he seems to be on the verge of leaving in every transfer window. Would rather he didn't sign for City, or any other English club than United in case he turns out to be a huge success.

It's like he's suddenly crap, because he's joining City

He's probably one of the top 5 in-form players at the moment. He fits Pep great if you ask me.

There's a reason nobody has touched him. If he was on Hazard, Coutinho level it wouldn't have been so difficult to snap him from Leicester for anyone.

Rashford is getting plenty of game time, Silva was already a bit part player. This will only make it worse.

So either he raises his game or he wont play. Same as in other top clubs I guess. At least it will be interesting to see Mahrez at a top club. Does he have another level in him?
