4th choice CB works hard in pre-season, gets abused for doing so by cafe.
Having Onana is pointless, if you have Maguire playing in front of him. He shits himself under pressure. Please just get this guy out of the club, I'd accept 20M.
I think he’ll play less this season. He started last season as first choice, before getting replaced in the starting XI by Varane. Then he lost his first backup place to Lindelof and Shaw. So he is starting the season as fifth choice. If he stays, he'll feature in 30+ games, including sub appearances. It's a long season, 4 competitions and injuries happen. He got 31 games last year remember.
Not as pointless when he's the 5th choice CB
Makes sense - we're not going to say we're expecting £35/£40m because then people would bid around £25m.
Say we want £50m, but we'd probably acccept £35m
Scratching my head trying to work out the logic behind your idea here.
I don't see Onana offering any mitigation. He's going to want to give the defenders the ball in risky positions which Harry takes ages to deal with. He's going to suit playing high so he can goalkeep proactively. If anything it could exacerbate the issues and place more scrutiny on HM.

Or he trains most of the day and has 2 breaks.Surely, it’s good if he is training three times a day.

4th choice CB, who cost us major goals last season, is not compatible with our style of play, and has a wage well over 200k. Gets abused because of blatant tonedeaf PR spin about "working hard".
We can only hope that a new GK makes a massive difference to his game so he can just focus on defending. If Varane gets injured(which he does often), Maguire/Lindelof step into that role. Maguire got significant minutes last season, significant enough to feck up our Europa campaign.
Spot on. Offer 40, but ask for 5 back as subsidy towards his above-market rate wages. Everyone goes away happy.Makes sense - we're not going to say we're expecting £35/£40m because then people would bid around £25m.

I dont know, could be quite the spectacle watching Maguire hang back and cover goal while Onana goes on a mazy run up the pitch.
Not exciting news but I like that we're trying to get more money for him. He's OK 5th choice defender, although he will be mostly used to win headers when opposition is bombing us with crosses.
We don't expect to actually get 50m, hasn't the signing of Mount literally in the last few weeks taught you lot anything?
Meh, same way Chelsea wanted 80m for Mount. Truth is we have some really good CBs and we could do with a different profile of a player, but Maguire would do well in a different system. He just doesn't fit current United. Doesn't mean he isn't worth say 35-45m for a different party.£50M for a 5th choice
If Onana joins that genuinely makes Harry less of a liability.

I'll be fecking nervous if I see him walking up to me with the tray.can he do anything else? help with the filing or answer the phones? serve in the canteen? take the bins out, even?
That is my worry as well. His reputation is in tatters though. Anyone buying him would have to deal with fan reaction to buying him as well.
The problem is that he’s a good defender for a team that plays football from the 90’s, and teams that play that way don’t have £50m.£50M for a 5th choice
Spurs or West Ham would love to have an England international in their team. It’s free PR for smaller clubs. His reputation is in tatters though. Anyone buying him would have to deal with fan reaction to buying him as well.
