Maguire | he stays!

Reports actually said we offered him 6/7 and he wanted 15
God knows what's true but I've seen The Guardian report he wanted £7m and Daily Mail/Daily Standard say he wanted £15m. I'm inclined to disregard the latter.

The report said he wanted a £7m payoff to make up the difference in loss of earnings over the two contracts. £15m is a ridiculous figure and seems to be from the rags. I still think we should have paid it, unless we literally couldn't have even reinvested the £30m. But I don't see why we couldn't have? Pavard just went for £25m.
He wants 7m per season still on contract

His reluctance to a move is going to put huge pressure on Gareth Southgate. The press are going to make a meal it !

haha nope hes still here. The ivorian phil jones. Im amazed he is still here too. Honestly just to piss maguire off even more id find it hilarious to see him get time before maguire, should it come to that.

I know he's under contract for 12 more months but is he actually at Carrington training with the squad ?

But we're also making big "profits" in FFP terms selling Henderson and other Academy players, you'd think we could tank a loss of 6-10m£... then again maybe 192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1 not, the club is certainly acting like there's no penny to spare. It's bound to happen that a decade of bad choices in player spending would compound and be felt down the road.
I think there is no financial problem yet from the part of players salary ! but maguire will boost up the clubs budget for sure when he go out

Considering West Ham were the only ones interested this summer. It’s hard to imagine who would want him next summer.

Everyone knows he'll leave on a free in two years time. United are just terrible with transfers.

United: "Pack your bags Maguire, you're not leaving..."

What the feck is going on with this? The weirdest minds games I've seen in a long while, all because we wouldn't pay him some money he feels he's due.

In the England squad and probably starting games for us after the break with Varane's injury. It's worked out quite well for him.

Bella Kachop is apparently available for 8m. I would take him over Maguire

Lindelof is ahead of him. Maguire's currently 5th choice but with Varane and Shaw injured he'll surely get some minutes.

I feel no spite towards Harry Maguire, but I'm glad we didn't just pay him millions to leave. If he wants to warm the bench and jeopardise his England career, he has every right to do so and I don't begrudge him a penny of the contract he signed. If, after failing to reach the required standard at United he has to drop down a level or two to get a game, then I don't see why we subsidise that. He either thinks he can elevate himself from 5th choice centre-back or has abandoned what's left of his career to enjoy the riches of his contract.
Why would his England career be jeopardized, when he always shows up for the NT. He doesn't even need to play at a 'high level', he's not a youngster still improving anymore, he just needs to keep up his fitness. And cbs are much less demanding than other positions.

Maguire definitely has some assurance that he’ll be first choice for England, but don’t see it holding up being our 4th/ 5th choice cb.

Goes on to show the lack of ambition from players end, who definitely is prioritising his salary over play time, which he has every right to do so and practically a better option for him financially.

On the flip side, he’s gonna get battered constantly by fans, warm the bench and lose out any chance to show that he’s good enough and not as bad people make him out to be.

Money>Respect

Won't last forever.

Are you sure about that?
No, but I know that Ten Hag has stopped talking to reporters about injury timelines because he doesn't want to divulge that information for two reasons.

1. It helps opposition guess our lineup and target players who are returning from injury. McTomminay returned from an ankle injury last season and Ten Hag didn't mention it because he thought they would target him and his ankle.
2. Employer confidentiality. It's normal in Holland for the clubs not to talk about injuries the players have suffered.

So knowing that, and knowing Mount is out for around 4 to 6 weeks, Ten Hag recently said Shaw was out for 'longer than Mount, I think', suggesting he's not really sure himself but it's probably around the same length of time as Mount + a couple of weeks max.

Your last sentence is made up. If there are reports he could he out till December, which there are. Thats probably more likely

Literally words out of Ten Hag's mouth but yeah sure, he's back in December then because one random bloke who doesn't have the information readily available to him said so:

Shaw suffered an injury in training this week which will force him into the treatment room alongside midfielder Mason Mount, who is expected to miss up to six weeks of action as a result of a hamstring problem.

Despite initial hope that Shaw's injury may not be as serious, Ten Hag has now confirmed he does not expect to see the left-back return before Mount.

"We can't do that [put a timescale], it's personal these days," he explained. "Luke will be longer than Mason I think."

United are already without their only other natural left-back Tyrell Malacia, who is still several weeks away from making his return.

"It will also take a few weeks before he will be back," Ten Hag said of Malacia. "Definitely, we have the solutions in our squad to cope with that. We thought before the season about this scenario, it could happen, you hope to avoid. But if it happens you have to be ready for it."

Then why didn't he say it's a long term injury? Out until around Christmas? The new year? etc. He's purposely being vague but he has never suggested it's a long one.

Who exactly is reporting he's out until December?

He is being vague yes. To be honest pretty sure this was before the reports too.

The same reporters saying we were looking to loan a lb, were the same ones saying Shaws injury is worse than feared.

Injuries at United and England mean he's on the verge of being in both sides. So much for fighting for his place, both managers are going to end up picking him regardless of form. I mean Southgate would do it anyway cause he's winging this managerial lark, EtH has shown he'll play a left back ahead of picking him just because he's available.
