Maguire | he stays!

I was just pointing out that he was rated back then. Your opinion is your opinion, I'm not even saying it's wrong. Just that no one could have seen him drop this low, or go fight the fecking police on some greek island after a solid debut season. At a pub or a restaurant, this would've been a quick exchange, with no swaying or convincing.
They could and they did. I didn't to be clear but there was definitely people predicting this.

It's not about the love of the game. It's about the player himself. achieving something in what is a very short career. A player will surely regret if once retired he looks back and realises he needlessly spent years of his career sat on a bench not playing. It's a real waste.

He is super rich. He's a multi millionaire and could have four or five more years earning huge money.
Compared to you.

And you're super rich rich compared to a lot of people in Africa. With that in mind, maybe you should consider taking a paycut to help your employers.

We should pay more attention to these Nostradamus's
No but if they say i think he was always crap, always had these weaknesses and i'd be happy to take x figure to move him on then thats fair enough. Its a pretty reasonable statement.

Why would we let Maguire go on loan. This is clearly West Ham who have the money trying to get us to pay his wages. He can spend another season on the bench.

Those two aren't really related and given how his career with us turned out, I'd be happy to mutually terminate his contract at this point.

It absolutely is related. Hes the same player now that he was the day we bought him. He's low on confidence and has no roll in this team but he hasn't changed.

So he can get back to his Leicester levels?

Should not be allowed to go in loan. Either sell him, or keep him in the bench. Him getting regular minutes while screwing a 30m deal for us should not really be an option, and it should be a lesson for him to learn for next summer, and also for players who are in a similar position.

We also need a fourth choice CB, and with him refusing to leave for West Ham we have no money to get one. Him as fourth choice (or fifth when Shaw is back) is almost alright.

Yes obviously. To be clear leicester fans thought we were stupid and Evans was the better cb.
For his and our sake I really hope so. He wasn't worth the amount we paid, but was still worth at least half of it, and was seen as one of the better ball playing cbs at the time.

Are these new rumours in any way reliable or just people looking for clicks?

At this point I don't care if he leaves, we won't sign anyone anyway. Maguire will rot on the bench, get selected by England, sit in a deep block and get destroyed as soon as England play anyone that's not shit. Then people will say Maguire is good for England.

No that's nonsense. He is objectively a super rich person. If you have to do a comparison, compare him to the entire population, not just the richest bloke in the world.

Who is asking Maguire to take a paycut to help his employers? Maguire taking a paycut(i.e. joining West Ham) is as much for his own benefit. The idea of being a footballer is to actually play football. Experience playing in front of thousands each week, achieving something. Being part of a team.

Whilst you're partially right, you're partially wrong. If you compare your wages to the rest of the world you'd be rich as most people in the world are in poverty. With that being said it's irrelevant.

Maguire isn't doing anything wrong by taking a payout from the club, everyone would do it unless they're a moron. The idea of being a footballer is to play football, but it's not a fairytale, people play for money too. That compensation is for the hard work you put in day in and day out and the sacrifices you have to make. Maguire can't live a normal life due to being a footballer, playing in front of thousands of entitled weirdos (many of whom give him abuse) is not a prize.

It is weird to have a black and white take on this. There is no right or wrong. Every footballer takes a decisions based on their priorities and family/financial situation and future plans.

Cant believe dude is willing to throw away his International career just for 5-7 million. Said it before, but Ed Woodward should be drawn and quartered for the wages he has given these players. It makes them damn near impossible to move.

For the love of god just bugger off Harry, so everyone can move on with their lives!

What it feels like

Pete O’Rourke is a bit flaky in terms of reliability. He did get props from one of the more reliable sources on social media for getting the initial scoop on a transfer story I saw recently. So he’s not a complete chancer.

Not exactly true, he was sacked because the results were shit, the football was shit and the players clearly didn't like him.

But from the moment Jose was told no about a few players, he went into his usual self sabotage mode, to make sure he was getting sacked.
I’d put it a good deal earlier than that. He lost interest in the job as soon as he’d panicked Woodward into giving him an improved contract half way through his second season. The football turned shit then; miraculously, the results took a while to follow.

There was an atrocious 0-0 at home to a poor Southampton right at the end of 2017. I don’t think I’ve ever seen United play a home game with so little ambition; not even under LVG.

I don't look at it as right or wrong as such but a moron would waste years of his career for money he doesn't need. To piss away the opportunity do what many would love is just a crying shame and that's the bit that gets me.

I know loads of regular people who choose lifestyle or job satisfaction over money. I'm bemused as to why a few see this as unthinkable for a multi millionaire.

That's ridiculous.

Maguire will come to regret sitting on his hands if he plans to stay at United as it will in essence end his playing career

And there you have it. The reverse Wesley Snijder. One wouldn’t come, the other one wouldn’t go.

Pretty sure this is because we are not going to be given the funds to sign a replacement. Jokes and memes aside, Maguire as 4th or 5th choice CB is better than nothing. I think the Glazers have indicated that no more funds will be released this window regardless of sales.

Wouldn't surprise me if they're calling his bluff on how much he wants to bugger off?

"You want how much? No, that's fine then you can sit on the bench."
