Television Mad Men | SPOILERS

Well season 6 doesn't exist yet so it might be difficult.

Really though, no. You should start from the very beginning

Apologies. Season 5.

Thought as much. Wondering if it's worth a go based on the two episodes I've seen.

I just started watching this year mid season. You;ll catch up pretty quick. I also went back and started with season 1 on Netflix. Amazing how different some of the characters are from then to now.

What remaining 60's events could they try and incorporate into the show? The moon landing, escalation of the Vietnam War and counterculture, assasinations of Robert F Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

Quite a few of these have already been in it. It's in 1967 by the end of season 5. They even show England winning the World Cup.

I think they mentioned two more seasons which I would guess means that the show will end when the 60's end, going by its pacing.

Amol, watch it from the beginning. any good show for that matter.

You will relate to the storyline and the individual character in a better way.

I'm thinking of watching one show from the beginning. Confused between a number of them mentioned on this forum.

I've got Mad Men, Archer (don't think it requires any following of any story) and It's always sunny in Philadelphia on record on my set top box. But they're all in the middle of season 3, 5 etc.

Watching Archer and Sunny from any point will be fine ( though will ruin some jokes that play in early seasons). MM must be watched from the beginning.

I met Jessica Pare (Meghan) in Leggs in Dublin on Saturday night, she isn't actually that hot.

Just thought I'd share that with you all.

Her mouth was disproportionatly outwards facing, it has to be said, like, far more noticable than in the show.

She was friendly though, introduced herself to us all as Jessica, shook our hands, took a photo.

I meant it more so in that she didn't just assume we knew her name, and introduced herself as Jessica to us all individually, I was mainly concerned with being smacked in the face by her teeth.

Cina you bastard. :<

Just completed watching the latest season, and it was as good as previously. Thought were a couple of times when the plot became unrealistic, particularly when the firm was were over-generous in making Joan a partner based on what she did to land an important contract.

Don Draper is a compelling character, the iron hand in the velvet glove. It's always hard to predict how he will react, sometimes generous, sometimes harsh.

No surprise, it's dominated awards for the last few years and people are getting fed up of that so they want a change.

Just watched the first two episodes of this and really liked it. It's hooked me in straight away. Looking forward to getting to the end of season one and being truly hooked.

Season 6 starts on April 7 with a two-hour premiere.

Great!

Last season was brilliant. "Far away places" was one of the best episodes I have seen of any show on TV. Might watch season 5 again before April 7th.

Thanks bud.

Yeah that was a great episode indeed. I liked the one where Lane commited suicide, it was very carefully built and well done.

Can't wait for it to start again!

The episodes of the first couple of seasons are pretty hard to distinguish but season 5 had some absolute scorchers.

Far Away Places, The Other Woman, Lady Lazarus...

The general media, hence the Emmy/GG snub. It's still considered great TV but not to the standard of earlier seasons.

The ratings were higher than ever before and many critics agree that it was the best season yet from what I've read. Emmy and Golden Globes are just...gay and pointless.

It feels like Weiner is getting more and more ambitious with his writing and that's why I'm extra looking forward to the next season, more artiness please!

Finished all 5 series during the week. A month and a half to watch it all (just how I like to do TV) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the characters are piss poor, but on the whole it was great. Looking forward to the next two series but I'll probably wait till they're all aired and watch them then.

Which characters dont you like?

I cant think of any. Many say the wife but I like her

The wife wasn't the worst.

I found the account manager Pete Campbell to be a truly annoying character badly acted. He put so much effort into trying to appear to sound correct according to the period that he came across as totally stiff in his performance.

Pete is a great character, and you're supposed to find him annoying and quite dislikable. I don't think it's the actor either, more so the writers making him out to the the ultimate stereotypical businessman from the sixties.

I get that he's not supposed to be likeable, but I actually think he's a shit actor. I mean don's not exactly Mr likeable either but he's really well portrayed.

I think Don is definitely supposed to be likable. Yeah he is a bit of an adultering prick but he does have the best interests of a lot of people, such as Peggy, and does follow a lot of ethics that a lot of other men didn't back then. He's very rarely sexist and often corrects others who are. He's certainly not nearly close to the levels of "asshole main protagonist who we still somehow like" that Tony Soprano or Walter White are!
