He will be saved by a draw against Bournemouth like 0-0 against Chelsea saved him.

Did he do a speech last season? I thought they just did a lap of honour. Not sure he would dare this year it would be asking to just wind the crowd up.

Can't remember.

Just can't see what is going to happen, surely, if we are going to replace him we should be announcing it now. Leaving the fans in limbo on the Sunday could result in more embarrassment for the club, boos and / or empty seats if he decides to talk shite.

If it's radio silence before Sunday, I fear he will be here next season.

Why would any player want to join this shambles of a club and I bet some who have are regretting it now.

The West Ham game summed up everything that is wrong with United under LvG. All the failings of a manager and squad laid bare, with a team being given a chance to salvage something tangible from a largely, ahem, forgettable season, and blowing it. At least go down fighting, but they can barely manage that.

Imagine if LvG says 'Thanks for your support, see you next year' if could end in chaos.

If that happens after our last EPL game....the crowd will boo. Nothing more.
Moyes got a standing ovation when we were 6th-7th, so LVG may get the same.

Moyes was not there for the last game of the season and he certainly wouldn't have got a standing ovation had he been... (in my opinion anyway).

Still livid this morning. Probably for the best I'm not in charge of footballing matters because I'd have sacked him in the changing room after that performance his side put out.

I'm not convinced we'll win the fa cup. Palace will be way up for it and he'll have us playing his slow possession style. Can see us going 2-0 down early and then we'll try to score for 70 mins without luck. But boy oh boy, all that possession, 80% mind you, will be glorious, and we'll even get in their penalty box a few times!

I still 100% believe the club wouldn't announce his sacking until after the cup final, and agree that we shouldn't, as frustrating as it may be. Don't take the silence as any sort of confirmation yet.

It really hurts. We had the lead and could not protect it. The game was never under our control. It felt like we were outmanned at both ends of the pitch.

At this point we have proven that Van Gaal's methods do not work. Not in this league, not in Europe. The fundamentals of his philosophy are nowhere to be found in the football we play. Both our goals today scored from long passes into a stretched defense.
I know right. Our goal against norwich came from a long ball which the CB misjudged. There are, I would guess, few examples of this patient, passing game bearing fruit where we score some great team goals or get an opening after long spells of possession.

I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be any boos even if we miss out on the top 4 or fail to beat Bournemouth. People have been clapping and shaking his fecking hand even after terrible performances/results, because they think they're better fans if they don't show their frustrations. I get why people don't want to boo, but at least don't fecking clap/shake his hand as if you're perfectly satisfied.

Still pissed as well. That we didnt press or fought back is not acceptable. We played like a bunch of softies who didnt dare to fight. It was our chance to get top 4 and we blew it. The amount of individual mistakes was horrible and West Ham should have finished the game in the first half already.

How can it be that we're not prepared and ready for one of the most important games and that our players are so weak mentally? We had 2 shots on goal, in such an important game. And what did we do as soon as WH scored the first one? Passing the ball between the back 4 without any intention of striking back.

I believe it's 2 more games and then LVG will be gone

I really hope so. Last night was pathetic.

No heart, no fight, nobody dying for the cause - all English cliches that I hate but they're all true regards to our performance. We had to go out and match them toe for toe and we didn't dare. No balls whatsoever.

Martial and Dave deserve better that the shite their team-mates served up last night.

just wait till our right side gets ripped by bowlasse in the FAC.

This is the same paper that claimed Arsenal were front runners in signing Schneiderlin the VERY SAME DAY when Schneiderlin was already in our training ground having a medical. So I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from this.

Hope you are right mate. Honestly after last night's stinking crap show I really cannot stomach another year of VG. It's really too emotionally draining.

I think it's all down to the results, if he makes top 4 he stays, otherwise it's over for him. Making top 4 is the most important thing to the club and the basic minimum requirement from the board.

But even if we make top 4 is not due to our performance, but simply because City imploded. Anyone including his dog could figure out stumbling into the top 4 would not truly be a metric of anything. If it takes until the last day of the season, after two years, to know whether VG should get a third year, then the board is truly incompetent. But I do not believe they are incompetent in this sense. The board is fecked-up because they have individual agendas (getting Giggs in, hating Maureen, Ed backing VG to the hilt because he would look stupid if he sacks VG, etc.). There is just too much BS going on at the board level. Ed may be good at revenue growth but he clearly is not fit to run United if all he cares about is to back his clearly failed managerial choice in order to support his own position. There is really no other sane reason to want to keep VG through next year.

I really cannot be arsed whether we win the FA Cup or not. What I do care about is taking the right steps to take us back upwards and that's getting Jose in. Whatever the hell we "achieve" in our remaining games are meaningless if we stick to this muppet or go with Sleazy as our succession plan.

Well I do want us to win the FA cup because it would be a bit of a balm on all of our bleeding hearts! It's just been that shit*y a season. But as you know there are plenty on here still who would say we are making progress and if we manage to stumble into 4th he should get another year.

We deserve everything we get. None of this is bad luck, this is all self induced by horrendous decision making:

- hiring Moyes on a 6 year deal
- letting him clear out the bankroom staff
- dithering in the transfer market chasing unobtainable targets
- panic buying two shit players for way over the odds
- replacing Gill with an inexperienced CEO
- replacing Moyes with Van Gaal
- the continuing presence of the philandering clown
- buying and selling di Maria in less than 12 months
- allowing a man who is pathologically incapable of building sustainable professional relationships, bring players in and then shunt them out of the club
- rebuilding the squad with largely inferior players at great cost
- watching Klopp and Guardiola go to our two fiercest rivals
- not sacking Van Gaal in December after the worst corresponding month in club history
- negotiating a kit deal predicated on CL football
- shithouse match going fans that will politely clap a clown polishing a turd, as long as it shows support

Hope we lose to Palace.

He can't be saved with a draw this time. We're playing at home against Bournemouth and need all 3 points whatever City do.

But if we play like we played against Chelsea in that game, how could he leave after performance like that? (it's a quote from Louis)

We have turned into a joke under him, teams just have to try and they beat us. I can't help but think we would be in top three if we sacked him in Christmas. The board has let this go on for far too long.

Still worried he might somehow stay

I hate when people say "in the good old days it was different" but under Fergie, with Keane, Vidic, Rio or any other leader, I doubt we would have seen something similar. At least we would have dared to fight back

There is going to be a meltdown on here towards the end of this month when it becomes clear he is staying

I can't work out if it will be funny or tragic

What's worrying me is the amount of shit he's saddled us with. People were slapping his back and praising him for letting go of the deadwood when all he's done is get rid of players who could actually contribute and replaced them with expensive tripe. Be hard to get rid of many of them now

I don't know of any comparable club which would have kept him to this point. Louis is living a charmed life.

I just don't see the end game any more. Giggs in a year will be no better than Giggs now.
