To me the games are now virtually meaningless as long as the club go against the wishes of the fans by not removing this utterly destructive manager.

Struggling to even feel any excitement for a long overdue FA cup final.

Would you sack him today? Let Giggs - or if he doesnt want to do it on an interim basis, Joyce or even Carrick - manage us for the final two games? Just for the feel-good factor of it?

I was never confident we would get 4th anyway, but I think we'll win the cup. I see no reason to act now, I dont see there's anything to gain from it. He'll be gone within a week of the season ending.
Just leave him at the team hotel after the cup final with his P45.

If we don't get fourth then sack him after the Bournemouth game and let Mourinho win us the cup.

I feel the same to be honest. Someone probably thinks that makes me less of a fan but whatever.

LVG is an old school manager with loads of dosh and a dignity to preserve. I wont be surprised if he had agreed with the club to go quietly without taking any severance pay (or a reduced one) if he is allowed to retire with that tin FA cup on his CV. In 5 years time, when Mourinho/Pocchetino had sorted the mess he created he will be saying on the media how he paved United's success just as he did at Barca and Bayern.

I really cannot be arsed whether we win the FA Cup or not. What I do care about is taking the right steps to take us back upwards and that's getting Jose in. Whatever the hell we "achieve" in our remaining games are meaningless if we stick to this muppet or go with Sleazy as our succession plan.

I'd even let SAF manage them for one game to get an F.A. Cup win. Why should Louis get any chance of glory when he has ruined out football team? Then kick out all the coaching staff, yes that includes you Giggs.

I pray to god the matchgoers finally show their discontent. How hard is it to show some emotion for your own club? I want a storm of boos when he enters the freaking pitch. It at least some chants towards him.

The problem we have is the happy clappers have a self delusion that are Super T0p Reds by 'being loyal' and not showing discontent towards the manager because they have been fed all of this 'United Way' bullcrap from the likes of Fergie and co.

I can absolutely guarantee he will not get booed this weekend.

Yeah, I mean if there had been widespread dissent that was evident at Old Trafford, then the board would have been in an awkward position. But, unfortunately everything looks just rosy when looking at the reception at Old Trafford, the majority of the time, anyway.

I still think the clown will stay. All logic absolutely says he has to go, but I have an awful feeling he will be in the dugout come August.
I do get that the match-going fans want to stay supportive of their club and (most of) the players but I think we'll see some venom directed at LvG on Sunday should City take control of their own fate … but not until then, as stuff like that can easily affect the players and it would be a huge joke if City lost and we failed to get all three against Bournemouth.

This is my new dream scenario and explains why the club have said nothing thus far too please be true

I think the players will be made well aware of what is going on at Swansea, either a big cheer if Swansea score, but if City put in a performance it could get nasty. I think they are caught between a rock and a hard place, they want to support and encourage the players, but want to abuse the manager. They don't do the latter to avoid affecting the players. Trouble is LvG takes support for the players are support for him.

Aye, the bad atmosphere should probably be saved until post match. At the end of the day, we can still conceivably (although it's highly unlikely) get top four, so we might as well cheer the team on.

At the final whistle - when we have most likely failed to get top four - there should definitely be some dissent. The fans have put up with enough and most, if not every other set of supporters, wouldn't have put up with such abject shite for so long.

I don't doubt that he's leaving but my god has it been a painful process getting here. There's no way he should've been allowed to stay after December.

Ultimately if you pursue a style that has never worked in this league and take short-cuts to defending by trying to keep possession and it results in so few shots and so few goals. I mean all you have to do is laugh, what a buffoon. Almost a caricature of a mighty manager with the history he has.

I hope he does leave, but I don't have a personal hatred toward him. (Similar to Moyes.) How could somebody with such a pedigree be so stubborn and foolish? The answer is so obvious and he seemed to retreat further and further up his own arse over the last 18 months. It is well and truly mind boggling.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more on his own for Real Madrid this term – and that tally is just two more than sixteenth-placed Bournemouth, who visit Old Trafford on Sunday

United is like dust struggling against cosmic winds.

Yeah that's how I see it too. I think he and Woodward made a gentleman's agreement months ago and he'll retire in the next few weeks.

Rather than make another thread, I am curious as to the decline, lack of showing or whatever of our centre midfielders this season. Whether in relation to defensive duties, supporting attack etc, they have been sub par. I warn you not to run a comparison matrix to United reject Danny Drinkwater. its not pretty. Drinkwater has created more chances (42) than Carrick, Herrera and Schneiderlin combined. he also has more assists (7) than the 3 combined. He has won the most tackles, made the most interceptions bar Morgan, but he has made the most blocks. Now he is not a top class box to box midfielder by any stretch but he can perform like on in the right set up. We signed supposedly some strong CM yet they do feck all but keep ball each game. It has to be the Philosophy......

i just can't envisage what will happen after full time on Sunday, surely the club will need to make a statement beforehand?

Imagine if LvG says 'Thanks for your support, see you next year' if could end in chaos.

I can't see anything happen, if it does until after the cup final. It will be interesting to see if LVG gives a speach after the final whistle and what reaction that and even the lap of "honour" gets from those who stay.

If we don't get forth (which we won't), I'd sack him after the Bournemouth game and let Giggs do the FA Cup final.

Then I'd get rid of Giggs after that too.

When almost every fan has decided months ago that this clown is not up to the job, the fault lies squarely with the board, and specifically Woodward. They have taken the goodwill of the fans and ****ed all over it.

He's so lucky he's got a cup final.

What the feck would his speech be at the end of the game on Sunday if it wasn't for that? Him apologising for this train wreck of a season? At least Pellegrini could talk about the trophies he'd won at City. Maybe Van Gaal will boast about our possession stats.

He's a fraud and I cannot wait to see him feck off.

Its just almost time to put this mad dog to sleep, for good. But that sums up VG's career at united, lucky. And much like the quote from the movie speed, luck runs out sooner or later for all of us

He'll say its been a difficult season but "there are clear signs of progress."

What those signs actually are we'll be left to figure out for ourselves.

He means Olly's Mourinho-to-Valencia signs.

In a perfect world he'd announce that he is to retire after the cup final. In reality we know that he'll say something like "it'sh been a difficult year for me and my players, you know thish. We have made progress and my philosophy is working. See you next season".

Did he do a speech last season? I thought they just did a lap of honour. Not sure he would dare this year it would be asking to just wind the crowd up.

I should think so as well. If we don't get 4th on Sunday it could get mighty ugly. I hope the fans stay behind but it might be too much for some to take and you could see a lot leaving.
Doubt he will have much to say if we lose. Much less if City give us another chance and lose as well. Fans should let him have it. I'm starting to think the players have stopped showing up. They're not all collectively that bad are they?

They aren't that bad, just badly trained, badly prepared, playing woeful soul destroying tactics.
