Even if the traffic was to blame for the empty seats I think it's still a good visual message to the Utd board.

Because you can be sure if Van Gaal gets another year, there'll be plenty more empty seats next season and it won't be the fault of any traffic.

I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, maybe it's just the approaching end of the season and I believe the end of LVG.

I do think we'll win the cup and probably get top 4 with the way City and Arsenal are faultering and our relatively better fixtures. However we feel about LVG would be nice to have a some success to look back on.

Tonight's performance doesn't add logs to the fire against LVG. Right now it's all and only about winning games.

But the case against LVG is overwhelming already. I'm just saying there's nothing new for critics to glom on to based on tonight's performance.

That Balague stuff sounds pretty fishy to me;

"Van Gaal, as it stands in this volatile world of football, will continue as manager, fully supported by the MU Board, who do not take such decisions lightly. He has their confidence, let’s hope the fans can share some of their insight."

That's not even a quote, it's an extremely heavily loaded quip chucked into a piece that is supposed to be a fact-based exclusive. Really just seems like an opinion piece stroking particular members of our board's uppity egos and trying to make us fans trust their uppityness, in doing so clearing the way for Mourinho to return to Spain which ultimately is his first love.

He much prefers waxing lyrical about the prospect of Mourinho being back at Real Madrid than bringing us back to power.

That's patronising as f*ck. Doesn't he (and the board members) think that we fans have already considered the fact that they & van Gaal are eminently successful people who know more about football and finance than we do? That we accept we're not privy to the behind-the-scenes stuff which they are aware of? And that we're conscious of our occasionally illogical impatience for change, for success?; and yet, despite accepting all of these things, we still want LVG to go. We're not fools for being dissatisfied, Guillem...

Here here Steve

I was so incensed I threw up in someone elses

Haha... reminds me of my ex-wife who apparently puked into another boy's mouth -- when she was wasted and making out with him in her teenage days. I am pretty sure the boy/man has been scarred permanently and his currently partner probably cant understand why he dislikes kissing!

Him saying LVG is still backed by the board is pretty exclusive - it would go against any form of agreement suggested by Di Marzio or Moratti.

We probably deserve to suffer another season with him after being so smug and arrogant. Some still think we are a little better than everyone else for not chasing him out with pitchforks. Some still think he is modernising our football.

United will deserve everything that comes their way next season (further downfall) if they insist on this Van Gaal/Ryan Giggs plan.

I think a lot of us have mentally checked out at this stage, so it's not like we're incensed anymore but it's still very disappointing to think it could go down that way.

If he wins the cup and we some top 4 he will be here. get used to it.
That said I still want us to win the cup and come top 4.

Tbh, if he could win the FA cup and get top 4 (would mean Arsenal or City miss out) then I wouldn't be totally against him getting another year. It can't be as bad as this year and with some more signings, we could be a lot stronger.

Does anyone honestly believe that Van Gaal will be gone next season because I dont.

If we miss top 4 and fail to win the cup, then yes, I expect he'll be sacked and the club will seek to formalise whatever gentlemen's agreement they have with Mourinho (or possibly a consensus candidate if they can find one). Achieve CL football for next season and I reckon they'll probably stick with him for another year.

Total conjecture obviously, but the evidence points to no definitive decision having yet been made.

He will be the luckiest manager in the league if that happens.

I think the issue I have is that he has clearly failed. He was supposed to challenge for the title. That was the main objective and any competent board member should not be re-writing history with this.

Any other manager would be sacked by now (justifiably) and for some reason, this club seems to have such an appetite for displaying it's dithering decision-making.

The "it can't get any worse" line of thinking is dangerous. My imagination is quite more vivid than yours!

Hope is not a strategy. Competing against the likes of Pep, Klopp (full season with his own signings), Pochettino, Conte, and even Wenger, 4th is the best we could realistically expect with LVG (minus DDG) next season. Time to cut bait.

The attendance last night tells you everything. Even if we're winning fans don't want to turn up. Since when was top four the target anyway? The commentator last night said LVG's target this season was top four, and I've seen some fans repeating it too. Top four was the target last year was it not?

This year the target was a title challenge and to reach the knockout phase of the champions league, targets that LVG failed to reach MONTHS ago. Some dreary 1-0 form and potentially an FA Cup where all the big teams exited early on should make absolutely no difference. It was only a week ago we were destroyed by Spurs. Now we labour past two of the worst teams in the league and City drop a couple of points and apparently it's enough to keep LVG on another year. I've no idea what's going on anymore.

We have the best defence in the league atm and if we add more attacking threat then we could be a lot stronger. I would rather if he left but if he can win the FA Cup and get top 4 then (Arsenal or City miss out, meaning they cant add as much quality as they thought) then I wouldnt be up in arms about him staying.

Watching our team brings me little or no joy these days.
No one I know wants to sacrifice time with their loved ones or leave work early to watch a MUFC game anymore.

I can't imagine we've gained any new fans this season and if Woodward persists with LVG we are going to start losing fans.
The situation is depressing from all angles. Woodward really mishandled this and the club is paying for his ineptitude.

I don't think anyone is up in arms about anything anymore regarding United. The club has become boring and unambitious, from the boardroom to the players.

There won't be anger, there will be more people not watching the matches. I've missed the last three (Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace) as I've been away and unable to spend the time watching (or justify it) but I genuinely couldn't give a shit as it's generally a pointless, joyless endeavour these days.

i am convinced that he is staying and we are stuck with him.

Woodward and the board are so far out of touch, its absolutely criminal.

the only way to make them c*nts stand and up realise is by hitting them in the season tickets. i hope 1000s of people dont renew and there is no queue to take them either.

more so and more importantly, i hope not one fan buys a new jersey this year and we will soon see how far this goes.

Can you really put up with another season of this dull boring football? Seriously?
This is clear a case as any of the manager not being suited for the club. He has to GO.

I almost feel bad about buying a home kit this year, it seems the only way to get the board to wake the feck up is to hit them in the pocketbook. It is the only language they understand.

I'm not saying I want him to stay but if he is given another year due to an FA cup win and a top 4 finish, then I won't be overly annoyed. It will only be for one year as he is definitely gone after it.
