Premier League points after 32 games:

Moyes (£60m spent) - 54 points
LvG (£250m spent) - 53 points

I don't know how accurate is this but won't be shocked if true.

It's 100% accurate.

The worst part is the 39 goals scored compared to 52 at that time with Moyes. 13 goals less after all the changes in the squad. Just putrid.

Anyone thinks we'll made the Jose announcement sooner than expected just to lift the doom and gloom around the club in a nice manner? Particularly if we get knocked out of the cup on Wednesday? By then, we will have almost nothing to play for

The fans shouldn't let the board off that easily. They kept Van Gaal when normal rational demanded a sacking. They have wasted yet another season. I think they too should bear the brunch of our frustration, not just LVG

Think he will be gone after any FA cup loss. If not he'll be here till the end of the season. Roll on Jose.

Scenes on here when he's still here next season and Giggs takes over

I genuinely believe he will be here next season alright. It's so depressing, it's untrue. He should have went months ago when the pressure was mounting by the week, but he somehow weathered that storm with a erm draw against Chelsea. Since then, he bizarrely hasn't looked like a man under pressure.

Just a small thing but take a look at this mornings back pages. We're not the story anymore. It's not a shock when we get hammered any longer. No pressure on the manager.

Expectations are in the basement.

If we are going to make a change I don't think we'll do anything until top four is truly gone. Much easier to 'prove' to everyone that "we're not that sort of club" while justifiably being exactly that sort of club. Also as people on here have discussed, we probably pay him less that way as well.

True but I suspect it might be more stark if there wasn't a better story already out there in Leicester.

Strangely, it's been like this since January when we got that mighty home draw against Chelsea. That's why I firmly believe he will be here next season. If any journo had a good source about LvG getting the sack at the end of the season, they would be all over that story. Instead, as you said, there are very few, if any, stories about LvG getting the boot anymore, no matter what the results is.

Not so sure about the journalists' part. Most papers have written reams about Jose taking over, including pre-contracts etc. It's a lot like the "Pep to City" stories which peaked at a time and then just faded away as being "accepted truth, but yesterday's news". How many times can the papers write about the arrival of Jose being imminent? By contrast, few journos are talking about LvG staying being a certainty. Most of those stories are one-off pieces talking about his own thinking, rather than anything from the club.

That said, I would not be too shocked at his staying or Giggs being appointed instead, given the ineptitude the Board has displayed thus far. It's terrifying to think of how much I'd spend on therapy if either of those events occurred though...

The Jose stories are rampant, that's 100% true. But that, to me, all seems a-bit of a 2+2 game from the journos. There was a-lot of talk - it was daily and seemed to be getting more and more likely - about LvG being sacked prior to that draw against Chelsea in January. Since then, all the talk is solely about Mourinho coming in, but very little talk about the board actively wanting rid of LvG etc. That's what worries me.

Being honest, at the moment I'm 60% - 70% sure he will be here next season. I really hope he's gone obviously, but nothing has made me think that he will be. I mean, if the club had any sense and looked at his massive underachievement's and mistakes, he should be a dead man walking but that doesn't seem to be the case.

This loser is no longer our problem, people keeping him on the job in light of everything thats transpired are. Woodward needs to man the feck or feck off, simple as.

Doesn't one imply the other?

Not really, no? It seems like 2+2 in regards to Mourinho with some jounros even slightly backtracking, given they were 100% confident it was happening a month or two ago. Why are there basically no stories around anymore saying that LvG is under pressure, his job is on the line etc? I mean we were utterly embarrassed by Spurs yesterday in the second half and yet, there's no outcry from the media saying that LvG is a goner. My take is that no one has a clue what's happening.

Linking players and managers with our club is great and all but surely you know by now to treat these stories with trepidation?

The idea of another year of the dire shite that his tactics throw up has me....................throwing up.

That was United playing well today in the first half without ever really lookin like scoring.

True words from Carra. Sums us up really.

I think its just because our club isn't feeding anyone with any information whatsoever. The Sunday supplement on skysports even admitted to knowing feck all, and said our club's silence could mean our LVG stance is "the best kept secret". There are a lot of posts pointing to the inability of our board to make sound decisions, however in the recent past (ie not dating back from Moyes) I don't think that's the case.

If we had sacked LVG at Christmas I'm not sure who we could've got that would do much better, assuming Mourinho prefers to start work in the summer (as per the reports and tone of his interviews). The lack of silence may prove to be a testament to our club's secrecy which is much improved from the Moyes era. Put it this way, if LVG wasn't really out the door and we wanted him to stay, or that Ed actually loves LVG like some posts suggest - do you not think we'd put out a statement that his job is safe? Even when the journos were really going at it? Our silence speaks volumes.. I don't think we need any extra stuff from Journo's to know that LVG's job is unsafe.

Moreover, some big wins (City, Arsenal, staying in the FA Cup etc) have bought LVG more time with the media before they start the LVGOUT headlines again.

If we get another year of this absolute terrible football, it will really test the patience of the fans. I mean; we are tested very much right now, but a whole 'nother year of this? The supporters would riot.

I really hope the club wouldn't leak any information about LvG either way as it would most likely prove counterproductive. For me, he just seems like a man that is confident that he will see out his tenure. I don't think the board will issue any statements saying he is safe as I don't think he's 'safe' per se. I just think the board are undecided as to what they will do next.

Your last sentence worries me.. because it may well be the case. I really do wonder whether there will be some form of activity from the fans by way of banners etc. if we didn't do the obvious and sign Mourinho.

Dropping out of top 4 + keeping LVG (or Giggs) in charge would cause havoc.

I know mate, just making the point. We are in real trouble. The debates around becoming Liverpool may not happen anymore - we might already be there.

Aye, I just wish there was something more concrete as-to what is happening. People in the media who seemed convinced that LvG would definitely be gone at the end of the season, have become very quiet lately.

I think we all assume on here that he has to least get top four, but I haven't yet see anyone else give any indication of that. I mean, surely it would be wholeheartedly unacceptable if we didn't at least make the top four, but I worry that he may still remain.

What else is left to say about it? He'll leave at the end of the season and that'll be it.

He won't be here next season mate. As for the press not getting that for definite it's because the decision on that is kept with 3 people (Joel Glazer, Richard Arnold, and Ed Woodward). Don't underestimate how badly burned they were on the dismissal of Moyes. From that point, they vowed to not be in that position again.

When this happens, there will be no build up. It will be announced before anyone sees it coming.

A manager on the brink - especially at a big club - always makes the back pages. That's the point. All has gone very quiet over the last few months which makes me assume that no one actually has a clue. Not me, not you, not anyone on here or in the media.

I genuinely hope you're right. Another season of this utter shite is beyond comprehension.

Can't see that happening, the only "danger" is if we actually get top 4 and/or win the FA Cup in my opinion.

It seems that even the threadmarks on this thread are on hiatus since LVG said he wouldn't resign

No one gives a feck anymore
