I like him, but can't support his obsession with Fellaini and to a lesser extent Mata. Mata runs like he is wearing tight undersized jeans.
We were winning and then he decides to throw Fellaini right back into the thick of things to disrupt the chemistry in the team? WTH?

Nothing new here, it's been like that throughout the season. The thing with LVG, he can be great in one match and shite in the other. Tonight is a great result.

Like I've said earlier, these big matches do not show Van Gaal's problems. He's well capable of winning the odd big games. It's the other games he has problems with for one reason or another.

The result alone shouldn't change your mind on whether LVG should go/be sacked or not. However it is a good result, and credit due to him. I also think that results like show that another manager will have something to work with once he arrives.

At the end of the day we've won and he set us up well. BUT he seems to have a nack at playing against teams that are going to attack us and not much else - based on that hes not a United manager

We could have beat them 10-0 and I'd still want him gone.

It's strange if you think about it but feel exactly the same way. The joy of winning is tempered by the thought that next game there is a high probability we will revert to default shit show setting.

We reverted to that after about 60 mins today.

This is just another win. He has to go regardless of where we finish in the table. He's simply not up to the job.

It would be nice for him to get a top 4 finish and then retire so he doesn't finish with a complete failure of a season. A top 4 finish shouldn't mean he keeps his job though.

Delighted with the win obviously but it was still pretty unremarkable as a performance. It's very nice to see the squad isn't completely hopeless and there is quality there when properly utilised.

Still hope to see Mourinho announced in the next couple months.

We are set up to be unremarkable and grind out 1-0 wins.

Let's not nitpick today. We beat City and one point off top 4. At least let me enjoy that you sadist!
 I'm enjoying the result big time, can't wait to get into work and see the resident blue, but we were gash for the majority of the second half!

To be fair, first half was old classic United.

Oh here we go. We took a step forward which means we WILL take two steps back. Another loss coming up.

Don't deny we were crappy mate, but honestly we beggars can't be choosers this season. Let's get top 4 and have that fraud eff off this summer. I'm sure he will be all smug at the press conference and say something completely inane.

This. Said the same since December about most 'must win' games. Want him gone ASAP.
Cue Fellaini to start next game.

Finish the season in the top 4, win the Fa cup and leave quietly in the summer - and I might write a few words praising him.

If he goes before the end of the season there isn't a chance we will finish top 4. I don't know why we want to gimp ourselves right now. I don't think anyone is kidding themselves that we will do better under Giggs and Mourinho won't come in before the Summer so I don't see the point.

Van Gaal's little dig at Liverpool's result

But still want him gone, top 4 or not

Don't worry you will get your wish to support LVG till the end of this season he ain't going anywhere before that no matter how crappy we do.

Still has to go, still been a total failure at the club. One result doesn't change anything.

Always love to beat City though, especially at their place.

Im worried he will still be in charge next season if we make the top 4.

That's my worry, I'm very conflicted. I want top 4 but I need some sort of guarantee he won't be in charge next season because he will not improve us. I genuinely think if we get top 4 he should resign, he honestly won't do better next season than that. He leaves with his head held high and we all move on.

I changed my vote after the past few weeks to sack him now, but his big-game record is just extraordinary.

This season there's been 2 defeats, 5 wins, 5 draws.(Leicester, Spurs, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal).
Last season 2 defeats, 5 wins, 3 draws (Spurs, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal).

That works out to 38 points from 22 games, which is better than our actual point average  (worse than last season though)

Top 4 = stay.
