Yup, again agree 100%

I completely forgot winning the EL gives you entry to the CL, so I can see the logic in playing the best players in the cups and giving the kids a chance to play in the league, especially if they lost tomorrow. (hopefully not though)
We have to get some sort of european football. Even the dread EL. Win either cup and CL/EL is there. As you say give the kids their chance in the league and we will then see if they are the real deal or a flash in the pan.

Yeah, absolutely no European football would be a complete and utter disaster and would be totally unacceptable. The EL obviously isn't first choice, but it's better than nothing. And I think using the kids in that way is as you say, a great way to see their true potential whilst giving them much needed experience at the same time. Obviously all this is depending on injuries though, the team would certainly struggle even more with too many more injuries.

I am going to have to read my posts first. I keep missing the endings off words.

I'm sure we will bring in Mourinho in the summer, were just sticking with LVG for now because he probably is the best option to see us through to the summer. Also we don't want to fire him now because that would just look like were panicking, like we have no plan. Its not ideal sticking with LVG but neither is sacking him at this point. Were playing it cool and will probably part ways in the summer but in a better way, and then come back strong with a new manager.

I'd like to think we could win something, but he will somehow cock it up. Make a substitution or rest someone at the wrong time. He can't help himself.

Here is the perspective, bayern win the treble, what did they do? they still replaced the manager with someone they thought was better

Wasn't he going to retire anyway? Really Pep has not lived up to that standard. Madrid do it as well, a manager might win, but they will replace them if someone better is around. I worry that Madrid might sniff round Jose again if Zindane doesn't do well enough.

That's not true at all, their manager was leaving (retiring I think) anyway.

"We have only lost one game [heavily], 3-0 to Arsenal, and they're on another level, in my opinion." Link

I'm sorry, but for him to say that is incredibly infuriating. They are currently on a different level but most of it is down to fecking him dragging us down several levels and then trying to make it the norm and say none of it is his fault.

This is why I desperately want him gone. He makes it seem like where we are right now is the best we can be and he's acting like he's some miracle worker to keep us in the top half of the league.

The feck? Can't believe he actually said that. He's deluded. Him and Moyes and Rooney. The bosses and the captain. They are all shining examples of lowering standards. They reflect the reasons we are going down the drain.

He is a fecking plonker and I still maintain that that December run broke him and there is nothing to be gained by prolonging this misery any longer. To hear him say Arsenal are on another level after the money he has spent is shocking to say the least.

Exactly my point mate. Chelsea are unbeaten in 13 in the league and Klopp is getting closer to getting it right and it all clicking at Anfield. One minute they are a shambles, the next they are looking very decent indeed. :(

Yeah, but Chelsea and Liverpool are sacking teams. We are not! Gotcha! Ha, ha!

Not defending him here at all, but this may have been taken out of context or he didn't explain himself properly. Do you think he meant "at the moment" and due to the amount of injuries we have in the squad? Or possibly be talking about performance-wise? Or comparing results and league position? Or maybe he could be trying reverse psychology and playing mind games?

But I do agree it is a shocking thing to say regardless, especially if it is as it reads.

Arsenals squad valuation can't be too dissimilar to United's, regardless of how much they cost to assemble, but United's definitely cost far more. I'd love to see Theo or the Ox at United and have always been gutted Ramsey chose them over us, and feel we should have gone for Sanchez, but it wouldn't have mattered as LvG would have ruined him anyway because just look at how Di Maria is playing for PSG now, that goal he scored last week was fecking outstanding.

There could be mitigating factors and, indeed, there are - our injury crisis, morale etc but to say this right now is defeatist and could give players a ready made excuse to simply not try.

We're aspiring to be like City, etc.

I can assure you that we were even more dreadful then we are now in seasons 86/87, 88/89 and 89/90. We were absolutely dreadful and played a pile of shite.

I don't disagree.... But had Fergie spent £250m then on a squad of misfits? Had Fergie had two decades of success to build on as a club? No.

Then why do I see all the bull shit the media write repeated here over and over again? If all the fans would think for themselves the criticism would be much more diverse and different from what is written by non-fans.

It's quite a unique situation, not many clubs have had 23 years of success and it doesn't make the future any easier. Basically the structure was one central pillar taking all of the load. Take that one away and keeping the structure is a huge challenge. It's like Yugoslavia without Tito, Queen without Mercury, Apple without Jobs. It's ridiculous to assume that transition like that, if successfull, can be done smoothly.

This is a non argument. I respect your opinion, but it differs drastically from mine.

To be fair, though, I don't think Van Gaal had THAT much to build on. Success is great and in our case it creates a strong financial foundation, but it comes down to how good and prepared your squad is. The history isn't going to help you if it isn't. And it wasn't.

Fergie spent quite a bit of money (for those days) on a team that looked dreadful for the most part in 89/90, though that was also the season he won the FA cup and everything turned.

Some of the comments in this thread have been over the top. And how typical this thread is buried deep down when we're winning huh? Just delete this shit and try to forget it ever existed. I'm awfully ashamed to be a red when you see a thread like this. Biggest official site on the net and all.

 How can anyone dislike him as a person?! He's hilarious.

I despair when I hear ones saying they prefer Moyes. He needs replaced for sure but he's a different league to the former.

Fans in being fickle shocker. Play poorly, out, win a few games, in. Exactly the reason why the board should make the decisions and not the fans. Opinions flip on a dime.
Even if we get top 4, he should go. Regardlessn, the decision should've been made by the board by now.

They're more qualified than you or I to make that decision. I'll leave it to them. I think it's pretty obvious he's here til the end of the season at least. We've played like a new team in the last few games so let's see if we can at least finish as strong as possible and go from there whether the board make a change or not. I certainly won't be complaining at the moment while our kids are putting Arsenal away. Let's see if this form stays or goes.

On days like today you can't see why we want him out but he doesn't deliver them anywhere near as much as he should.

What a great win though, great to see all the kids out too. They did us all proud.
