It isn't about giving one side or another what they want, it's about doing what's best for the club. If Van Gaal cannot motivate this group of players anymore, what other option is there? Sack the entire first team and get in a new one? They need a change of manager and if that doesn't help for certain players, they'll get moved on eventually. It's the only viable course of action at the moment really.
Gary Monk was sacked after 9 wins in the last 26 matches....LVG currently has 9 wins in 26 matches

Why is LVG so tarnished by this season but Jose is unscathed even though and his 'champions' have done far worse?
Crucial to any other team that comes up against us but not to us. Our remaining fixtures are against teams fighting for the title which is a ship that long sailed form us or teams trying to remain in the league. I think with a lot of luck Van Gaal might actually hold on to 5th, but he can also finish as low as 8th
Regardless of who is brought in this summer to take over for LVG, it boggles the mind that he hasn't been sacked yet. There still is a season to salvage -- Europa League qualification, the Europa League this season and the FA Cup -- and there's no reason whatsoever to let it all rot over the next three months with LVG at the helm.
We've got Shrewsbury on Monday, MidgetLand on Thursday and Arsenal on Sunday. It's a bit frightening to think about what awaits us, actually.
I can accept that it could be problematic to sack LVG before the Monday match but the FA Cup is the least of our concerns and if it means having Giggs run the show for that match, so be it.
