Not to mention he actually has 0 game impact as a manager. His presence in the technical area, his ability to influence games while the game is actually happening and make impactful substitutions are nonexistent.

While players are at fault for the terrible last 20 minutes at Chelsea, their manager was sitting on his arse like a statue looking gloomy, not trying to make tactical changes, not trying to influence their performance.

Today when they showed our bench around the 90th minute of the game i saw just acceptance... Acceptance that we are not going to score or even try to equalize. I saw defeat and the look of a man that knows his days are numbered.

I wish. We'd probably better off. He consistently misreads the situation and the flow of the game, costing us points. Bafflingly taking off players who are doing well, leaving on those who are struggling. Changing system and re-shuffling players for no reason whatsoever, when there are more direct subs he can make. He has zero positive impact from the bench, but he's fecked it up for us plenty of times.

Not true. You can't attribute his failure as "just happen to fall out with the players." Any manager can use that as an excuse. Rivaldo was sold in his second barca stint. Who were these players he fell out with that cost him? didn't he have a lot of his Dutch mates playing for Barcelona at the time? He had Van Buyten and Demichelis as CB because he SOLD a world class CB Lucio to the team who DID actually win the treble. His fault. Even if Bayern had a mediocre team by their standards, they are still the number 1 team in Germany and had better players than all the other German teams. didn't Steve Maclaren win the Eridivisie? Not quite the same as winning the prem with Everton which I know he could not do. He's past it, deal with it.
Basically this.

It's ridiculous the amount of excuses that some of Van Gaal's followers will come with . All his managerials failures in the past are always someone else's failure.

As for Rivaldo, Van Gaal sold him BEFORE the start of the 02/03 season, then fecked up after Rivaldo had left for Milan.

Just get this dinosaur ought of here. I laughed earlier in the season when some of his fans said that he would modernise us from Sir Alex's outdated football.

We are an absolute laughing stock to opposition fans.

How he's in a job is quite frankly unbelievable for a club of our size.

Not only should LVG and Giggs be shown the door but the decision makers at the top level need the bullet too. We really are in one hell of a mess.

United could do with a Florentino style character now eh? Seriously, LVG would get fecking lynched in Madrid for this, like literally.

He does have game impact, negative game impact.

He is like a doctor who still thinks 90's medical practices work in today's hospitals, unless you can work with the times you will lose your job, it's just our club thinks he still can turn it around. He's the living embodiment of a football dinassur, and we are feeling his outdated practices. If he was a doctor and his practices kept killing the patients, I wonder what his excuses would be?

More like 500 BC. Like hippocrates he might've been a revolutionary genius once, now he's a fecking lunatic.

There seems to be a worry that if Mourinho doesn't turn the last few games around that he'll have the stigma of failing from the off, which is strange logic because the season is already a disaster. There is really no point in keeping LVG in charge because all we'll be doing is riding out the last few games and waiting for him to be gotten rid of. I don't see why Mourinho can't be told to start now and we give him some time to evaluate the players in what is pretty much a dead season.
The only reason I can think is we'd have to pay a few Million more in compensation. Even if Mourinho is not available we'd be better off being managed by Fred the Red for the remainder of the season.

Totally agree. There will be absolutely zero change in this club if the higher-ups aren't replaced because these same people will be making the key decisions that steers the team and surrounding programs.

We act like Woodward is the only person who can get us crisp endorsements and whatever else. This guy is a craven cnut who will pull down the club's performance just to keep his job.

We took a £10m loss on Di Maria. How much compensation can we owe van gaal?

Oh I agree, he's made some awful decisions. I am by no means absolving him of the blame that's coming his way. I just think some of the players are getting a little bit of a free pass because of it. In particular, players like Rooney and Mata should be bailing the team out on days like this with a bit of magic and instead they are a major part of the malaise. Schweinsteiger hasn't done anything to impart some steel and fight into this team either, that I can see.

Rooney and Mata have been getting stick from fans, especially the former. But they are two of the few experienced players left, and that's all down to Van Gaal, who keeps selecting them. We could have had other attacking options but Van Gaal has sold them all away.

So what we're left with is being stuck in a situation where we sub kids in every single time we're in a spot of bother. Van Gaal's philosophy of keeping a small squad might work if the first team was top class and didn't need bailing out, but he's backed the wrong horse, I'm afraid.

I do my work to my utmost best. I cannot do more and I shall prepare my players against Midtjylland 100 per cent and I shall do that always."

Yes, you can. It's called a resignation.

He's like Frederick in Young Frankenstein and Rooney is Mr Hilltop.

You might be right, but what's another 5 million or so after our spend the last few transfer windows? This is getting to damage control.

He'd get physically attacked. Ultras and all sorts would be on his case. He's lucky we have some very foolish match day fans who are placid to the extreme.

He'd probably say it wasn't his fault as they were ill anyway, that's why they were in the hospital!

Nothings gonna happen. The club are making money so Woodward and the board aren't bothered. I support a club that doesn't really care about winning football matches.

Having grown up with SAF in charge I'm not prepared or equipped to deal with this. Its a reality I'm struggling to come to terms with. Is this it from now on?

Well, the first question I'm asking myself is, if they don't care, then why should I? Tickets aren't cheap and the road support travels miles and miles to attend games and the club looks to be pissing on them each and every week.

The Adidas sponsorship seems our biggest concern these days, even though a couple of seasons ago we didn't have it and seemed to be better off.

Players who look like they can't give a crap from one game to the next. Even youth players who are caught up in this malaise.

It's really sad.

Well, he's hardly cured of any our weaknesses since he got here, our much heralded defense leaks goals even with a double dm combination in front of it.

Our midfield can hardly create, and crumbles under pressure (and this stupid experiment of a 2 man midfield has shown how out of loop the guy is, especially after he had stumbled into something that worked last season).

The sad thing is that had we fired him in December, we might have saved our season. Now its just too late.

I think you are wrong, they want to win trophies and they want to be associated with success. They are just making mistakes.

I remember watching an episode of scrubs, dick van dyke was the doctor, this video sums up what I VG is an out of date coach/manager, who refuses to keep up with the times and is too set in his ways. The reality is? no matter if its medical practice, or being a coach, you do not keep up with the times you are left behind, that is why fergie was always able to stay at the top, you are working in a sport that always evolves. The scary thing is? this video was almost like watching Ferguson and VG talking to each other, one always wanting to keep up, the other to set in his ways

Crossed my mind too. Won't stop supporting obviously but I totally get where you're coming from. I could take it if it looked like they at least gave a shit

Always felt Liverpool's board cared about winning at least. Don't think our board even like football
Owners and Woodward are definitely not football men. However, to be fair, they left Sir Alex, Bobby and Gill in charge. It's since the change to Woodward and retirement of Sir Alex and Gill it's been a debacle.

They want to be associated with success but if they don't win its not the end of the world

It is the end of the world, they sell the club as a successful enterprise on the field, in the annual financial report they actually put a graph that shows the position of the club, that's what they use to squeeze money from sponsors, so unless they don't intend to be there when the next batch of sponsoring renewals come, they care very much about success.

That's exactly my point

I get this. Everyone does. The fact that we have to trot this one out time and time again for reassurance says it all though. They care because down the line the bottom line could be affected. They should care because were a football club. Therein lies the problem

You know what? I don't care....I've got myself some lovely hummous and I'm about it eat it all. All. All of it.

Yeah, pretty much this. Horrible transitional planning from the club, to be honest.

So I have more time on my hands than most and no life it seems....

Since taking over and blessing us with his philosophy and huge football brain, LvG has managed us for 82 games in all comps - P82, W41, D21, L20 (F125 A76)

* 50% win ratio (The Chosen One had 52%, SAF final season 66%)
* lowered our goal scoring average to 1.5 per game (TCO 1.68, SAF 2.11)
* been knocked out early to lower league opposition in his two attempts at the League Cup
* failed to get out of our CL group which in all honesty should have been a cake walk but was royally fecked
* got to QF of FA Cup
* 4th place League finish

He has also presided over more broken records than Roy Castle and turned us into quite possibly the most boring United team in 30 years. What's the latest one...the least points and goals after 26 games in our Premier League History.

All managers have injuries to deal with and players losing form etc but not all managers have so much money to spend or so much patience from the board when things are clearly not improving but actually getting worse. It is his choice to be stubborn in his tactics and the trimming of the squad just because he prefers to work with a smaller squad. These both things have back fired and the latter is the reason we are seeing the likes of BWJ, Varela and Donald Love. He simply ran out of options, not because he is a great believer in youth as none of these players would be playing if we had the likes of Rojo and Shaw fit, even Valencia and Young would be in ahead of them. Basically I dont know his influence behind the scenes with structure etc so all I'm judging him on is his coaching performance for games and he has come up severely short in this department and is very lucky to still have his job.

They probably think we're tanking the season on purpose to get the number 1 draft pick.
