Unless changes are made United will not finish Top 4 this season...which I'm not too bothered about in all honesty, but without CL football the next manager will have numerous excuses if/when he fails, just like the previous two managers.

LVG has zero excuses left to explain the mess he has created over the past 2 seasons.

Does it really matter now whether he's in the job or not? If Giggs takes over, he isn't getting top 4, and it will only cause a clamour for him to take over. If Woodward wants Mourinho this summer, it is best for LVG to stay and see out the season. Ideally we should have replaced him earlier when we had a shot, but now it's probably not even relevant who manages us this season.

That's the problem. This season is practically a write off in terms of the league. FA Cup is still there, Europa we'll get finished off in when we play a decent side.

Us fecking about in December practically ended any top 4 hope we had

Not sure how he can hold onto his job after today

Since the turn of the year at least performances improved but results are still very very poor

I'm officially saying for the first time he is not capable of turning this around

I want to see what Giggs can do from now until May. Go all out for the two cups

If it's Woodwards decision to sack LVG then he should really be scrutinised. He has left it far too late. LVG should have been gone after the Norwich and Stoke results.

And what.. give the job to Giggs? And then face a full of clamour for him being made permanent? Great situation to hire Mourinho in.

Sack him. Hire Mourinho. Could be done within a couple of days. Giggs can go earn his stripes somewhere or go on an extended holiday with LVG to Portugal.

It's funny how many people live in this magical world where they think sacking a manager will solve everything.

Who said it's going to solve anything? Having LVG at the helm clearly isn't working, something has got to change.

Are we going to wait until it's mathematically impossible to finish in the top 4?

If he survives today givien the fact that United not only lost vs Sunderland but were comfortably outplayed, then United fans should fear for the future.

Sack LVG tomorrow as United will not finish top 4 after loosing to Sunderland. Now W.Ham will overtake United.

Sack him and give Giggs the job until the end of the season, if Giggs do not want it, then give it to Warren. Mourinho can rather wait until summer so he can plan what he wants to change.

Why not bring Jose in now and let him see first hand what needs changing (which is a hell of a lot) similar to what Klopp is doing at liverpool.

Results are irrelevant now this club needs a rebuild.

I can see us drawing with Midtigland beating Shrewsbury and thus keeping him for another month at least.

Surely this has to be it, right? Getting knocked out of the CL should have been it. Getting knocked out of the League Cup at home to a Championship side should have been it. Then December's form should have been it. Losing at home to Norwich should have been it. This though. This just has to be it. Right?

Seriously. What more can LvG give to United? Over a year and a half into the job and he still doesn't know his best team, his best approach, his best formation. Poch started at Spurs at the same time and he had his style of play down within the first 6 months. By the 2nd season they were making a good run at the title, scoring a lot of goals, defending well, all with the distraction of the Europa League. LvG isn't even a fraction as developed in his current job as Poch, despite the seemingly bottomless resources.

He is no closer to making this batch of individuals into anything resembling a team. And he has no excuses. This is now his team. These are all his players. These are the players he brought in and the players he decided to keep.

He has to go. He should have gone in to December. But it has to be now. Losing to the worst team in the league that isn't Aston Villa.

Get rid.

In all honesty, I think he's Moyes' equal in terms of shitness at this point. Yes, he got us 4th last season, great, but this season is on par with any hopelessness and resignation I felt under Moyes.

You assume Mourinho wants to come when we have nothing to play for. I get the feeling he's not interested in walking into a dead season. If that were true, we're better off letting this car crash continue till May.

I don't think Jose wants to come now, that's my feeling only. But sure, rather that than LvG.

Martial was terrorizing their defense on the left flank. What would you ever shift to the right where he was ineffective? And to make it even worse he hasn't noticed it wasn't working/going to work.

This fraud needs sacking asap.
I mentioned this in another thread and this is not the first time LVG has done it either. He is a fkng clueless manager who never learns from his mistakes. How will he get the players to improve?!

No, it's the real world. If you fail with your job as much as he has you get fired. Simple as that.

That's the point. If it had to be done, it had to be done prior to/in December. Now, there's really no point in sacking him. If Jose wants to come in the summer, it will only complicate things.

With Moyes that at least made some degree of sense considering the length of his contract. This time round it would be insane.

Is Mourinho really going to turn us down if we say he needs to join now rather than the summer?

Still cant believe were still here, been saying since december we need to get rid and a couple of ok performances in the last couple of weeks hasn't changed a thing, were going nowhere under van gaal except further and further down. £250m spent, results are worse than under moyes and performances are a mix of pathetic, soft and boring. It was time for him to go weeks ago.

He will only come in the summer. But it really is pointless keep this fool around. But he will be.

Arsenal are going to destroy us.
