Apparently Giggs is digging in his heels. He wants a full time appointment with transfer budget and not an interim gig.

I'd do the same if I were him.
 
I'm confused about where those quotes from Van Gaal have come from... They weren't from his post match press conference so is it a statement?

Could backfire on him massively. He should be grateful for whatever he gets.

I would love to see what he can do, at another club, just like Neville. I don't want to se him anywhere near the United job, as he's been heavily involved in two managerial disasters.
 
Van Gaal was also criticised on the club's official television channel, MUTV, with former Reds winger Bojan Djordjic suggesting "the only corner we are turning is into some dark alley where we get robbed again".

I must say that Giggs is not my first choice, but he would be a much better choice than LvG. My first choice would be to get Mourinho. My fear is that LvG just keep going without being able to change anything.
 
Sounds like he knows what's coming, or is about to walk. If he goes, and we go for Giggs over Mourinho, then that for me is pretty conclusive that the idea before was to get to the summer. We must have something lined up if that's the case.
 
Giving Giggs the job would be good till the end of the year. He would attempt to play attacking Football, the players would feel free and much more pumped up to do well. We could win stuff. Look what happened at Chelsea in 11/12 when they put a club legend in charge. The biggest gamble would be giving him the job on a permanent basis. There is no suggestion he is the man to take us back to the top. Chelsea made that mistake. The best scenario would be Giggs till the end of the year then a top class coach come in during the Summer.

I've read the rest of the article and it doesn't really say anything of note. One of those instances where all the substance is in first couple of paragraphs
 
Just give the job the Michael Laudrup. Believe me it would work!! Giggs turning down interim? Is he Pep in disguise.
 
Mourinho in the summer after Giggs? 3 years too late, but better late than never.

They're his players. Many he's signed and those he chose to keep. If they aren't good enough it's not their fault. It's the managers.

If Giggs does well in the last 4 months, it would be a massive kick in the balls to then ditch him.

When Fergie was first appointed, he was able to create his vision of a club. At that time, it wasn't a commercial entity, so footballing side was able to set a proper foundation. The type of football to be played and success achieved (i.e. the standards and how those standards are to be attained) are not the issue/question/problem.

It's the vision or philosophy of it all. Woodward doesn't have this. Fergie had it since Scotland and made it come true at United, so there was no need to have the structure because he was the structure. He knew how it should be run, who makes decisions, why. Complete autonomy. But it's different days and it was even in the later years of Fergie. Fergie had a great backroom staff and coaches, he simplified it. Fergie knew the team would pick itself like it does for the most part now, but there will be a few players that had to be rotated in/out. Get the team mentally ready, keep morale up and oversee the mental side. Coach 1 runs training session, Coach 2 runs conditioning, Coach 3 runs gym time, Coach 4,5,6 runs specific training for specific positions.

The Club failed in realizing this. The insert here and press play attempt with Moyes was naive and wrong. LVG was the right choice at the time, however Woodward himself probably doesn't know what is needed in terms of actual talent or changing. For example, if United needs a right winger type player, does Woodward know how to spot a talent or does he rely everything on LVG and the scouts? If you're in charge of the footballing matters, one must be able on their own, know if the player is quality or can grow. Have a constructive process with scouts, manager and coaches on whether or not the player is good enough. I question if Woodward is this adept.

Why there isn't a Board of Football and a hierarchy is stupid.

We could replace him and have a very good chance at the Europa, which is another way into the champions league for next season. God knows what the board are playing at because surely they've got to be thinking that.

It'd be ridiculous if rumours were true of Giggs trying to vie for a permanent position if we're offering interim. He should be delighted to get any sort of chance whatsoever. Might not be true though.

Yeah, he's been a part of two failed regimes. If it's true then the audacity of him trying to force his demands through is incredible.

As I say, it might not necessarily be true. Giggs might be delighted at the prospect of being an interim, but I wouldn't be surprised if we are willing to budge on the issue and potentially give it to him permanently.
