I just keep hoping that this is the game we get a real performance and the players look like they are enjoying themselves. There are very few games where I am not crushingly disappointed.

It's all very depressing mate :(
 
BT sports have ripped him to pieces and Tslksport are doing exactly the same right now.

Just heard his post match interview with Talksport and I can't believe what I'm hearing.
Unless he did a different post match to what I saw, not sure what is wrong with what he said. He acknowledged we didn't move the ball quick enough in the first half, it was better second half, but still not good enough. They penalty was a penalty, and it was important that we are in the next round (something Fergie said every time).
 
Mourinho was sacked precisely because he didn't get wins.

I hope he gets a striker or winger in Jan, and stops playing Rooney upfront. He's not a natural out and out striker where he can fall back on his instincts when his legs have gone.
Where are our standards these days with people even remotely content with that game today.

Almost every other top team has to deal with this on a weekly basis, we dealt with it for years under Fergie and almost always came out on top because the quality of the team would usually get us through it. City today played a shite Norwich side (that beat us at OT) who also put 10 behind the ball and were able to easily beat them comprehensively, Arsenal had some struggles against Allerdyce's Sunderland but again were more than capable of making chances and putting them away.

But what am I saying, those are at least PL teams, we couldn't look threatening against an utterly rubbish League One side, must be because they have such defensive stalwarts channeling their inner early 90s Milan, of course that is the only sensible explanation.

Teams come to OT, sit back, and counter, Sheffield just did the former.
Don't take this as a defence of LVG, the state of the attack is his fault. Depay has been no worse than Rooney, yet he is on the bench more than often, yet Rooney plays every week. I see the team being strangled by Rooney as much as LVG.

Could you imagine Wenger with these players, he would get a tune out of them. We wouldn't win much, but we would be worth watching. Also he goes on about the ball not moving quickly enough, has he asked the players why they are struggling to do it? Maybe that is what he means about the dressing room being too nice. That they need to be telling a few home truths about movement etc.

I'm shocked you would compare Fergie with LvG. It is you that's overreacted somewhat. The lengths you just went to justify LvG is bemusing to say the least.

Because you knew there would be better to come with a SAF side. That the bad games would not be the norm. With LvG it will just be more of the same and quite often not with the right result.

Games like this for Fergie were the exception. Performances like this are the best we can hope for at the moment under LVG.

I prefer root canals on all my teeth to having to watch United matches nowadays. Van Gaal football is a crime against humanity and has more negative impact on the human race than North Korea's recent H bomb test.
I am going to get a crown fitted on my tooth next week. Can't wait.

2nd win after 8 games without one, so we've got a lot of experience of not winning when not playing near our best (although what evidence is there that we're much better than this?). That also was only ever said about Ferguson when it was actually a league game (wouldn't make much sense to be league winning form otherwise) so not a home game against a third tier side which was simply a continuation of how generally poor we've been for ages now.

Exactly. We're looking solid once again.. yet you'd think we are where Chelsea are based on the reactions off here.

It's just reached the point now where he just must go. There is no drastic change possible that will pick our season up - his comments just prove this. Not necessarily tonight, but when he said he preferred the first half against Swansea; the bereft of chances, rigid performance over us actually scoring goals in the second just tells you everything you need to know about the man. He's just not right for the job.

I'm beginning to think you're right. We've been playing like champions for a while... which is why we're 5th in the league, out of the UCL and out of CoC. True character of the champions elect.

I rarely listen to him anymore. I have MUTV, but just watch the U-21's as I am not inclined to sit through most games anymore. I have always loved watching my team. My interest is waning. I just want him gone and as soon as possible to give me some hope.
