Memphis is young and has had 4 months in a new league. Maybe give him a bit of time ?

The rest have all shown that when on form they have a place here either starting of coming from the bench. Jones is now where Smalling seems to have been a couple seasons back, he will mature into a better player.

Rooney does need to go.

So not quite as big a mess ?
Jones will never become another Smalling. Smalling has some intelligence. Jones has none.

Oh absolutely, they're clearly underperforming and I think Van Gaal needs to go. The point is the managers people want in won't be coming to fight for 4th and this squad is not good enough to challenge for the title or in Europe (which is surely the aim).

Jose will want to because he will be ultra vindictive and gunning for a chance against his old team and Arsenal. Forget about Pep, let's be realistic here.

Really hope he throws all these under-performing twats under the bus in his post-match press conference.

Go down swinging, Louis.
I have said on here, I think some were just having a bad time of it. The difficulty is deciding which ones couldn't care less.

We'll agree to disagree. As for Jones he's always been a headless chicken. I suspect the next man will gut the squad LVG put together.

I don't think Mata has been good considering we been waiting 2 years for him to turn up.

Yeah maybe. Amazingly he moved on last season's purchases, thankfully he won't be given the summer to rinse and repeat.

Memphis should be given time but he needs to show he deserves time. He looks absolutely lost out there and won't run at defenders. The least he could do as a winger is to hustle, close down defenders, track back. He doesn't do a lot of either.

Jones's problem is mental, not physical. He just doesn't seem to have the awareness to be a great CB. Someone (think it was GNev) said a couple of seasons back that he would make a better fullback because it's takes less brains. Very astute.

Did he actually say this:

"The club doesn't have to fire or sack me - sometimes I do it by myself"

Can't see him actually saying it anywhere.

The distance in the quality between us and Manchester City and Arsenal keeps increasing. It's so sad that it has come to this.

I'm hoping they're waiting for the squad to get back into Manchester before they call him into a meeting and sack him.

For feck sake surely we aren't going to keep him on?

Some of the comments about the players and manager are shocking. OK we've been awful recently and yes its time for him to go but let's be sensible here.

We don't need to ship players out we need players in, the squad is so light it's unreal. Look at the bench today and we were extremely short on options.

We need a new winger, striker and defender all capable of being first team regulars. Rooney is on massive money and if we can get rid of him then that's all well and good and possibly Fellaini as I think he has outstayed his welcome but tbh our squad needs bolstering not trimming.

sack him now. Giggs v Chelsea if Morinho contract is not all ironed out. Otherwise the atmosphere will be brutal in that match.
The atmosphere will be toxic, which will not help the players either. Get rid and it will give the players and the fans a boost. Especially if they think Jose is coming.

I think LVG is going to quit or at the very least look for a back me or sack me response from ED

You are right about the squad being too thin. That is down to the manager though. We have some good players with the right manager they will be fine. Let someone else spend the January money.

"The problem is we don't dare to play and that's my....analysis"

Swap analysis for fault and you're onto something there Louis.
As someone said he knows he is a goner, that is why he is now completely throwing the players under the bus as he now knows he doesn't need their support any longer.

Seems to be a general consensus developing, not only that Louis has to go, but that some of our players are too shit to play for the club or are absolute bottlers. Next manager has a huge summer ahead of him.

I can see us having to take a loss on Mata and Fellaini, try to ship out Rooney and reinvest quite heavily in the squad. Carrick is finished at this level and Schweinsteiger is at an age where he can't be relied on to play week in week out. The midfield is still a huge problem. As is the attack. As is the defense.

Will the board truly appoint a manager who identifies the actual problems which means taking a loss on players and spending big to improve the squad?

Agree. What a mental job. There aren't many players we can rely on at all. The club couldn't of handled the post Fergie era worse.

So was Smalling's, Jones has had very good performances at centre back and through a mixture of the entire squad being in poor form, low confidence and a couple of injuries (one of which I think disrupted his entire pre-season) he hasn't been on the ball this season, I am not defending his displays, he has been mostly poor as Smalling was a couple seasons ago (Brought about by much the same set of circumstances) but he is worth persevering with.

I assume he'll be sacked as soon as possible. No point in letting him fight it out with Hiddink, and even if we would win it won't change anything. Though with the strange decisions our club has made in the past, who knows. If we actually let him try for the last time against his old rival Hiddink it would be a bit like the Hunger Games, maybe Woodward is a bit sadistic and likes the entertainment factor.

Giggs to take over for the next two weeks while the club can figure out whether or not it would be a wise decision to bring in Jose. Can't see Giggs taking over for the rest of the season, too big of a risk.

Well, he is first choice CB probably for the rest of this year. I would agree with you that it's make or break this season, assuming he can stay fit (which is a big ask).

I didn't say that at all. My hopes for him would be to just keep an acceptable level of performance going whilst getting a run of games, him and Smalling being shunted about between the bench, right back and centre back set them both back in their development. Smalling after a serious run at CB is turning it around, Jones can do similar but it all depends on him staying fit.

I hope it works out for Jones, as I think if it clicks for him, he would indeed be a good CB. But the evidence at present is against him becoming that.

We are in free fall now, 4th loss in a row, that's worrying and the manager is not the only problem. Look at Chelsea, had luck with shitty Sunderland last week, but struggling today against a better team too.

Enough with that, who is sorry for us, the fans?

Trust me mate, I won't shed a tear when he does get handed his papers. But he looked totally broken today and I don't like seeing anybody like that.

Even if Mourinho were unveiled on Monday, he'd be in the stands. Giggs would be managing the team. Same thing happened with Chelsea and Hiddink. But to think having both the home and away crowd chanting for Mourinho  Surreal.

That would be an extraordinary set of circumstances. Probably unprecedented.
