I want him out as much, if not more, than the next guy, but the board have to be a bit more pragmatic than pulling the trigger and calling it job done.

Who replaces him? What impact does that have on January? What impact does it have on the summer? Does it adversely affect plans for the managers job in the summer?

It's not cut and dry. Calling the board idiots for not cutting him loose as quickly as you want is just silly.

I don't think thats the answer.

The club should, and probably does, have contingency plans in place. It should already have considered those questions, and better understand the answers than any of us.

I think the fact he's not gone yet suggests nothing more than that either, A) we're not ready to pull the tigger on him yet or B) we're finalising the deal with someone else.

How do we compensate LVG? Can the new Manager use the current staff? Does the current staff want to stay?

Also I can't remember if EPL managers need a licence, someone may have have to take Giggs place even if is factually the manager.

It might simply be that there are no suitable replacements? Giggs surely can't take over the United job full time with no previous experience unless our club have really lost the plot, Guardiola seems nailed on for City, Chelsea need a new manager (Simeone seems likely), Mourinho is being heavily linked with a return to Real and Ancelotti is going to Bayern. This situation would leave us looking through 'what's left' and risking another disappointing appointment.

I have always felt that Mourinho wanted to come here, but that's really just a feeling I've had, and logically, a Madrid return is far more likely to give him glory.

It'd be silly to sack LVG if there are no replacements who are likely to do any better. Chances are, until the last few games we've not even been looking, so it'll take time. I expect him to stay until the end of the season or be temporarily replaced by Giggs after the Chelsea game if we lose to them and Stoke.

I believe that the trigger has already been pulled and we are finalizing terms with Jose atm.

tell you what, you're Redcafe future is now hand in hand with LVG's. How about that? If he turns it around, you stay.

What happens on the pitch has nothing to do with me. I can't exactly take credit for Van Gaal turning things around, and I can't take responsibility for him failing. That's what I think of that.

My mate who told me about the meeting this morning thinks he will be sacked today.

I'm not too sure.

too late, its decided

 How about this. If you get what you want and van Gaal fails and gets sacked, don't you ever dare to complain about the dire football we end up playing under Mourinho. Don't you dare.

As for me, I will not be convinced until we line up a young, attack-minded manager who will bring joy back to the club.

What I am saying is that he has boxing day to demonstrate a change. If he doesn't change, then it's simply suicidal and we will sack him. However, if he gives the players more freedom and we play Stoke off the park, are you saying it will prove nothing?

I like this approach.

Was it the Sun who broke the Neymar story that turned out to be true? Or the Mail?

Sun.

Anyway there was definately a meeting today, doesn't mean it was about LVG, that part is conjecture... but it could well be true

So it takes him facing the sack for him to show any balls and change his approach?

Great, thats just what I want in a manager. Someone who virtually has to lose his job before he corrects such obvious flaws in his approach.

That's more or less what I said, if he can do it now why have we been crap until now, so he's basically been making us not play as good as we can, ridiculous.

Don't abuse the report function, it wastes our time.

So, erm, I get banned if Van Gaal gets sacked? I am abusing the report system for doing the only thing I reasonably can after being threatened? Who do I talk to about this situation?

I think the big question they're considering is will we qualify for the Champions League under LVG?

Yes - stick with LVG and reassess at the end of the season
No - immediately sack him and hire Mourinho

Right now I'd say it's yes but shifting to no.

The FBI obviously.

IMO they have already decided to get rid of him, but the timing depends on who the successor will be.

LVG obviously. Tell him that your future lies within his hands. Leave a fancy breakfast if you have to.

It's also worth contacting @Relevated

From Woody's words earlier in the season, those weren't our goals. The aim was higher and remember it included something like the UCL quarters.

great analysis and insight... very obvious something is wrong and these guys show you in simple terms.

Why the philosophy and process do not deal with this is shocking.

Because his philosophy is a total sham, does anyone have 1% of a clue what his philosophy is?
Nope don't think so!

I think he'll get sacked, giggs in for stoke, then Moreen for Chelsea. Perfect first match

Yes LVG is a gonner, but I think the board would ideally like to wait until the end of the season before making the change, both to protect our image as being a patient club with our managers and because it's altogether a much less messy process. As long as they keep believing LVG will lead us to a top four finish this season he'll keep his job, the moment they don't he'll be given the hook.

Threatening to ban @Mutter Merkel just because he has a different opinion to most, and still supports LVG, is utterly ridiculous.
