Do you want LVG sacked?

Honestly, the more I think about it...the reports of Louis needing a result against Stoke or Chelsea to keep his job doesn't make sense. If we hypothetically lose against Stoke on Boxing Day, you mean to tell me he would get sacked and Jose would be brought in when there's a match against Chelsea in less than 48 hours? From a practical standpoint, it wouldn't make sense to have a managerial change during this busy and condensed holiday schedule. We play 3 matches in less than a week. Making a change in the middle of that is a recipe for disaster. Personally, my belief is if the board has lost confidence in LvG which they should, then make the change tomorrow. At least that would give Mourinho time to oversee practice for a few days to get the team ready.

And also a bit of time to prepare for the January transfer window. Because we're going to need reinforcements.

The sensible thing would be to hire Mourinho after the Chelsea game. No need to pin unnecessary pressure on Mourinho for that game with minimal to zero preparation.

My guess is there's still paperwork to be completed(regarding Mourinho), and the club have decided to part ways with LVG.

Agreed, and that has pretty much been the general thinking since the briefing of this "ultimatum" situation - it just doesn't make any sense. I believe they have already made their decision, Woodward is probably hammering out the finer details of moving LVG out and getting Mourinho in.

I think it's inevitable.
And as someone mentioned before, did you see how despondent LvG sounded in his post match presser? He said Ed was in the dressing room briefly if I recall correctly. It wouldn't surprise me if a decision has been made already and the club are taking serious precautions to not leak a damn thing after what happened with Moyes' departure. That was messy because it leaked a full day before Moyes was even told.

And imagine an incredibly motivated Jose after getting "betrayed" by Chelsea having unlimited funds...

Yeah I thought that was particularly damning, he looked so defeated.

Is there anything about Mourinho, beyond winning things, that isn't negative at heart?

Spank my ass if this isn't allowed or already posted. I just saw on Twitter a supposed message from Frans Hoek to a supposed journalist. At first I thought ITK bollocks. However, Hoek actually follows this guy on Twitter. Now the Hoek account doesn't have a tick next to his name but has just under 30,000 followers. Also who would make a fake Fran Hoeks account? The message stated Hoek will know more at 2:30pm today.

Pretty sure that's a fake account.

If the ultimatum is a smokescreen on Woody's part (to avoid a repeat of the Moyes situation with regard to the media), it could very well be that the plan is now to work out a deal with Maureen, without rushing it, whilst leaving Giggs in charge of the Christmas fixtures.

This is presupposing we're even entertaining the Maureen idea, of course.

If the ultimatum is not a smoke screen, Woody is an idiot. There's no two ways about it. You either trust the manager to turn it around - or you get rid. You don't give him an ultimatum of that sort. Unless, again, you are an idiot who opts for more or less random ideas in a situation he's lost control of completely.

A college mentioned his Twitter name after Hoek recently visited it back in Holland which seems to add credence.
Just found the tweets you were referring to, it references it being in coordination with the NYSE opening at 9:30 EST which makes sense.

Hope it's true.

Exactly.

If he has been given a 2 game ultimatum, he will be gone by tomorrow. Just don't see him waiting for those 2 games with his ego.

Well Woody is an idiot so...

I'd go along with this. Although LVG should still go today, as I can't see how we'd be worse off in the next two games having Giggs in charge.

Yeah. He's the elephant in the room in many of the current debates about managers, styles, transfers - and whatnot. Idiot may be harsh, but I have absolutely zero confidence in him when it comes to football matters. He's no more capable than the man in the street to assess our current options: Stick with LVG, give it to Giggs, hire Maureen - what to do? If Woody has an informed opinion on that, it's an opinion based on non-football aspects. Perhaps we'll get lucky and his non-football opinion turns out to be sound also from a football perspective - but if so, it's pretty much dumb luck.

Indeed. As @Baxter said, it is pretty ridiculous that this journo has posted this (if it's at all true, of course).

Tomorrow should be interesting.

The other journos are hedging their bets but I don't think many would be shocked if the choice is to get LvG gone now rather than wait to lose another 6 points before cutting him loose.

It would be madness to wait another game or two to sack him, we cant do the same mistake as Moyes and risk CL qualification.

Well, maybe Ed will make Giggs the interim until they finish negotiating with Jose. So either way LVG may indeed have the 2 games to save his job.

The interesting question is what happens if LVG wins the two games in style (highly unlikely I know), what then? Still fire him?
