Luke Shaw: "open" to signing a new contract

I think his very well could be the end of Luke, it’s quite obvious Rangnick isn’t that impressed and I don’t think the club will want to jump at giving him more than 150k a week, when they could possibly get someone on half the wages. Dangerous game Shaw is playing…
 
Shaw probably thinks the likes of Chelsea, Madrid, Barcelona, Juve will be after him when in reality it will be Everton or Newcastle.

Why are all our players overpaid, lazy, spoiled pricks.

I thought there was a touch of the 'little boy lost' about the end of Shaw's interview last night, which seems to sum him up!

I think Luke is capable but his concentration on the pitch can be woeful, remember Jose charging up and down the touchline shouting at him and telling him where to go.
Last night he let the Swiss player drift off him on the edge of the box, which led to their goal, but then redeemed himself being in the right place at the right time to hammer the ball home at the other end.

He clearly responds better to 'mummy's hugs', rather than dad's 'kick up the a**e.'

There are few rotten eggs who needs to be thrown out of this club …. Enough is enough, you need to wear pride on your sleeves….you don’t have to feel loved to perform for god sake….

This shows weak mentality and weak mentality needs to be thrown out of this club asap….

For me, the sooner we get rid of Shaw, Maguire, Pogba, Maquire, AWB, Rashford, Lingard…. Needs to be thrown out of this club for us having any chance of having a successful future..

No one should personally attack the players but football is a tough business and we need to accept it!!

They constantly talk about how rude, disrespectful and inconsiderate people are to them on social media…. Guess what genius, stop being on social media, it’s your decision to be there in the first place…..

Close all accounts and focus on football..!! Just football!! Put a tackle in, play a decent pass and If you can’t do anything run, just run like you life depends on it!!

So glad Gareth signed a new contract. He would 100 percent of been one of our main targets.
 
Perhaps he shouldn't have played his role in throwing Ole under the bus with trash performances.

Ole had blind faith in Shaw and he abused it, now there's RR who won't be taken as a fool and Shaw is crying about feeling wanted.

There's enough to criticise Shaw for without bringing up Mourinho. It's a flawed point anyway. It was his treatment of Shaw that was the problem. It was bullying, plain and simple.

Had Southgate have left after the Euros I'm almost certain he'd already be our manager, there was a lot of articles suggesting he was one of our primary targets should we sack Solskjaer.
 
What's worrying about Luke is he was fired up to prove Jose wrong and did brilliantly last year but that desire to continue has gone and looks a touch overweight again to lose his edge. It's not like Ole was sacked at the beginning of the season and missed his management, he went to pot under Ole's man management that he likes. His best and only season for us was a vendetta with Jose. He needs that fire from a manager and also personal drive to play and keep in shape.
 
I don´t understand all the hatred towards Shaw. I think he´s a good player and could be very good if our team was better and more balanced. Something like England team last summer. I think same goes for Maguire.

Jose was fired on 18th of Dec. 2018.
Last season started on 12. Sep. 2020.
Soo, you are saying it took him almost two years to become fired up to prove Jose wrong? Sure..
Only reason mr Cheeseburger played well last season is we got Telles that summer and he finally had competition for a LB spot.
Euros being last summer have something to with it as well.
 
I just don't think he's outrageously bright. He has the best (Mata?) touch in our squad, is the only player fast enough to play LB at a high-level and showed - admittedly briefly - that for a 12 month period he could be in the conversation for best LB in world football.

But tactics, focus, complicated instructions - not so sure we're gonna get super far. Which can be fine, depending on system.

If we get Poch, there's supposedly tons of love there and I'd expect a resurgence.

If we get rid of Shaw we have Telles - who can't defend and, erm, um, that's it I guess?

Hello Mrs. Shaw, nice to have you here. I think others might say that it was an attempt to instill some fire into a weak-minded player though. One who's seemingly incapable of playing well unless he's absolutely 100% happy with every aspect of his life on any given day. That's not the mindset of an elite sportsman, which probably explains why he rarely ever looks like one. The only thing Mourinho got wrong was thinking that poor Luke had the potential to be better than that, when in reality here we are seven years later and he hasn't progressed one step beyond the player he was, despite being free of the tyrant who was allegedly causing him to underperform.
 
Not good enough to be our starting LB, I'm happy to keep him here for squad depth but if he wants any more than 160k a week he can do one.

It's widely accepted that Mourinho went too far in his treatment of Shaw but he always needs someone to kick.

Publicly criticising a player is never the way to go. Telling the World he only played well because it was his body and Mourinho's brain was outrageous.
 
He consistently downs tools and goes through long periods of being shit and wanting to blame everyone else. Yes he can be great for a bit, but it never lasts for whatever reason.
 
We need to offer him the contract that is in line with his performance. If he doesn’t like it then he can leave.
 
I wouldn't trust him with a job in the canteen nevermind a playing contract.

Jesus Christ

Shaw had a ongoing spat with Jose when he left the club and Shaw himself brought up Jose last season in the media. It was part Telles part trying to prove Jose wrong. You are aware Telles is still at the club and getting games.

I always liekd him and had an amount of sympathy with the injuries and public treatment he got from Mourinho. Thought last season, finally we were getting the proper Luke Shaw, but the weak parts of his game have never been improved on and the patchy form and look of a lack of application has returned.

I think this is one of the big problems with the current squad. There are alot of average players here, but majority of them could still be good squad players....however, our star players and big signings on the whol ehave woefully underperformed, many of them that shoul dbe the spine should be ones we are thinkign of moving on....

Shaw, Maguire, Bissaka, Pogba, Rashford. I would include a couple of others personally, but really only DeGea has shown form for two years, personally not even convinced by Fernandes, only last couple of months he has started to get some criticism on here when the reality if he has been poor for 12months now
 
That's very kind of him. I wonder did any of our players ever improve after getting their new and improved contracts?

I keep hearing this for so many of our players that fans feel we should get rid of because they don't want to be here or aren't good enough. Maguire, AWB, Shaw, Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Lingard, Cavani, McTominay, Fred, Ronaldo. Do you guys have a hidden billion pounds somewhere you are gonna donate to the club to buy replacements?

I want him gone with Pogba. Idiotic to commit to a player like him. Telles isn't the best but I'd take him over Shaw for sure.

His comments after the England game are shocking and disrespectful to the club. He’s on a longish contract, so not sure where he thinks he’s going with this. Hardly a top performer, so he won’t get a big move elsewhere.
Another entitle United player who clearly thinks he’s gods gift after scoring in an international friendly.
Jose was right about many things and we dismissed him. The purge starts this summer and hopefully Shaw will spend next season warming the bench.

Having or not having the money doesn't change whether a player is good enough, or whether a player has the mentality of a winner. I'd suggest that when it comes to some of our players, we'd be better off without them, replacement or no replacement. Admittedly we're talking a shorter list in that regard, Pogba, Shaw, Lingard.
 
Last season he was great but this season he's been awful, Rashford and him shouldn't be awarded with new contracts.

Who's going to pay them as much as we do? Nevermind improved wages.
 
Really need to look at yourself before you go bitching……sums up the mentality really of where we are at - players with inflated egos blaming everyone and their dog for the fact that they can’t be arsed when on over inflated salaries…….

It’s all down to hunger and our players are always full up.

Last year the whole of Caf was singing Shaw's praises with the whole Shawberto nonsense, and mocking Mourinho over his opinion of Shaw. Now all of a sudden, Shaw is unprofessional and lazy and all that. Maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle and rather than jumping from one extreme to another we should try to analyze what's going wrong with so many of our players.
