Luke Shaw interview post Wolves defeat

Yeah, Bruno puts a shift in. Even if it is a little headless chicken. I’m really disappointed in Sancho’s defensive efforts. Especially as the one player who might have some experience of the football Rangnick wants to play. Mason still has it all to learn and it’s a worry that Rangnick has already alluded to a possible lack of fitness.

Then we have the geriatrics up front. They do run about in fits and starts but it’s woefully uncoordinated and invariably followed by a 5 minute rest to get their breath back.

It’s a really rough situation for Rangnick. Does he stick with his “philosophy” to try and get the youngsters a bit more experience of that system, knowing that it’s going to be dysfunctional? Or try and muddle along with the same system Ole used, hoping the same players will up their game now he’s in charge?

Favre often complained about Sancho's lack of defensive work at Dortmund so it doesn't completely come out of the blue but for a player that doesn't do much going forward it's quite astonishing how little he does against the ball too. Just a very dissapointing signing so far

“maybe the manager can bring ideas” sounds like a plea to fix the division in the players and possibly bin some of them.

Don’t think this was about Rangnick at all. Not a few months in.

I think you have to see it in the context. He said they now finally have a long training week ahead of them and that he hopes they can work on some ideas from the manager.

I don't know which manager said it, but someone once in an interview said, "We are not training. With a fixture list like this, all we do is trying to survive." Which basically meant doing regeneration until the next game and no additional training sessions. I'm pretty sure the festive season of the PL was involved somehow.

There are going to be some killer books about how we’ve become so terrible post Fergie. Feels like everyone who leaves with the golden handshake doesn’t go in hard on the club but It’s been the owners holding us back all along ever since we sold Ronaldo regardless of how much they spend. It’s always a last ditch thing with them. They wait until something is totally broken before they take any notice. They are mediocre and have no idea what they are doing and that feeds down to the players who get away with murder and get paid top dollar to fail.

A few things there. If you’re ambitious and playing for Utd and on big money but you can’t do your job properly because your team mates aren’t trying? You’d be totally embarrassed. You’d be embarrassed by the state of the stadium or how predictably they always seem to crumble under pressure. It’s not an organisation that fosters a winning mentality. It’s money and PR over substance or any real plan and has been since the great man stepped down. It’s crazy how much he drove us on and covered up for the Americans total ineptitude. You can tell players arrive here and quickly realise their team mates aren’t up to much and they take the money and regress or try to leave. Bruno being the exception. Pogba Sanchez Lukaku Di Maria Martial all want or wanted out. There’s something deeply wrong at this club when we can’t keep players happy or get them performing but probably have the highest wage bill in the country.

Superbly put.

What do people want to see here exactly? A week full of infuriating 'we go again' tweets, or a refreshingly honest assessment from a player telling us nothing that we can't see for ourselves?

I mean seriously, is there anything our fanbase aren't outraged about these days?

I don't know, I watched the interview and I didn't think it was that dramatic. You can put that spin on it if you choose, but mostly he just pointed out the obvious. I don't think he said anything that clearly and unambiguously put the finger on cliques and internal strife, or criticised the manager.

...and when we'll be all together, we'll regain our 4th place and we'll celebrate with a bus parade !

Yeah not sure what the hysteria's about. I watched it in real time and nothing was particularly shocking.

Why?

He comes out with that shite after playing shit and after being shit pretty much all season.

He should keep his mouth shut and actually prove his worth on the pitch.

It's kind of hard to keep your mouth shut when you're being interviewed on television.

Conte said it’s taken him 2 months to assess the spurs squad , give Ralf time ffs, yes we are shit but the moaning on here is getting boring

This is the worst squad of players we ever had in my living memory. Not only skill-wise, but also mentally weak with huge egos.
Wish we could somehow fecked them all of and start over again. I wouldn't miss one single player from this team.
I have no idea where do we go from here.

Yeah feels proper grim with the general lack of mental fortitude in this squad

He should add - We have to look at each other, then look at ourselves in the mirror.

Always works and should land him a job at Sky with Maguire.

Yep, weirdos.

pretty much everything in the interview was correct and summed up what we are all feeling i.e. a team of self indulgent individuals not putting enough effort in. The problem i have with the interview is the person who gave it. He and Maguire have stank the place out since the start of the season and his defending against Liverpool was nothing short of a disgrace. People in glass houses comes to mind and he needs to address his own performances before giving out about others. (not to say that others are not to blame either)

Maybe he was the one either asked or put forward for an interview. No matter what he said somebody would moan about it.

Did he point any fingers? I don't think he excluded himself. What should he have said after a shitshow like that?

Such weird reactions, calling it disgraced and treacherous. I thought he spoke well, he was honest without throwing anyone under the bus, he seemed hurt and perplexed and shed some welcome light to what some of our problems are. Do people just want the usual platitudes, sorry to the fans, we go again next week? It was a refreshing interview.

This is why Ragnick is coming in and staying on. There have been cliques since Jose, horrible to see and it will be horrible to watch the purge but it’s necessary

Glad he said it. He's being honest and not dressing it up like you usually get.

This is the modern calling players out, unfortunately.
Definitely calling some players out with that. He looked and sounded incredibly frustrated and sounded like he's coming from a position where he can't say what is going on but he knows what is going on. Sounds like there are some bad apples in the bunch.
On the other side, I though AWB looked like he didn't want to be on the pitch today. Everything from his effort to his quality, which has not been great for quite a while, was just very off. A just going through the motions performance. Same for a lot of the players. Thye just seem to be going through the motions.

When Maguire gave the party line "we know its not good enough, we will try to do better" he got slaughtered on here. Now Shaw answers honestly and gets slaughtered on here.
People on here could write a 50 page thesis on his 4 min interview.
He basically said the players are not playing as a team and hopefully the manager can try to fix it before the next game.
That's it!!!!

The OP makes Shaw look bad with his misquoting or let's say interpreted quotes. 90% of the bad reactions are in response to what the OP wrote and not what Shaw actually said, at least I was one of them who fell for it.

Exactly, some people are acting like they're offended that he didn't go out there and talk like a robot. The interviewer tried to give him an opportunity to allude that the change of manager is the issue but instead he indicated that, like we all thought, that it's the players that are a massive issue. Fair play to him for having the balls to turn the spotlight further towards where it needs to go.

You’d be bonkers to want to manage or play for this team under its current owners. Unless you’re just happy to take the money and keep quiet.

I’m pretty sure getting paid plenty of money is the name of the game for a lot of them.

In a way I’m sort of glad that there is issues within the squad because it’s a much easier explanation than 25 professionals, a handful of which are world class, forgetting how to play football and it should be easier to fix those sort of issues than it is to coach a team that is pulling in the same direction and still playing that fecking bad.

There’s no point speculating who has fallen out with who and where the cliques have formed but we just have to have faith that Ralf will decide who is worth persisting with, who the bad apples are and who should be moved on. The one thing I do have faith in is that he will start bringing in players who are truly hungry to succeed here.

Shit. Read the posts. It's not just the squad but..and I don't want to alarm anyone ...but the Caf also appears to be divided!!

Might be time to take a little break from watching us while Ralf figures it out. Maybe if we can move a few players on this Jan? It feels like it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’m glad he’s got a few years upstairs to cut the players who are hiding in plain sight

I've said it before, a new manager or new shiny toys won't turn this club into Champions until the club have a massive facelift from top to bottom. Zlatan alluded to the fact that we didn't act like the biggest club in the world behind closed doors, that we were archaic. I believe it to be true, look how bad our social media is, look how long it took to get a women's team, our training facilities were outdated, the stadium needs a revamp.

Clear as day, no options to pass too in midfield, central midfield, Mctominay and Matic play way way way too deep and arnt mobile enough or have good oddball movement.

If the central Midfield isn't there to receive the ball, how on earth are the attacking players, receiving the ball and who off?

Neves in and another ASAP
