Luke Shaw | Deal done! Almost...

Still have a sneaky suspicion that we'll pursue this lad in the summer. I think we've a chance at getting him too. It wouldn't surprise me if we did a deal like Monaco did with Porto for Rodrigues and Moutinho. We go for Lallana and Shaw, but pay £48m for Shaw and £2m for Lallana due to his sell on clause.

Why do u want Lallana - u have players in his position already? There are other positions where ur team lacks much more...

We definitely lack another player for that type of role. The Chelsea game shows exactly why we need to make one or two purchases in these areas.

I think you're too late. Im pretty sure we've got him

Honestly where do you see Liverpool getting all this money from? Bit of a pipe dream if Liverpool spend a total of 30 million in 1 summer, unless they sell one of the better players of course.

Eh? Reports are saying anywhere from £50-70m on top of sales (I don't imagine us making too much from sales).

Liverpool will need a good 4-5 players for the Champions League, their squad at the moment is too small. I can see you buying Konoplyanka and maybe Lallana although I have a feeling he will flop at a top club and doubt he's worth £25m like some reports suggest.

Looking at his build and size, and due to the fact he's actually too good at the defending side of it all for a full back - I just think he'd make a cracking centerback if makes a switch.

Reports? Like the ones of United splurging season after season? I doubt Liverpool will have 30 million to spend. But we shall see.

Yeah, I think it's be closer to 50m(Liverpool's spending IMO). It'd be stupidity of the highest order if they don't build on this season's success. However Rodgers record in transfer market is very questionable.

Liverpool can't afford to splurge it all on Shaw. They have to sign more players for there small squad, since they have Europe this year.

Is it? Sturridge and Coutinho (especially sturridge),have been terrific buys. Sakho looks like a good player as well.

It seemed like he also wanted the likes of William, Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa, Salah but Liverpool but Liverpool didn't have much to offer any of them compared to the clubs they moved to or stayed at. They will have CL football to offer next season and much more promising trophy aspirations.

Aspas and Borini have been shit, and Joe Allen a bit meh.

For Sturridge and Coutinho, there have been Aspas, Allen, Sakho, Mignolet, Toure, Assaisdi, Borini who are all misses rather than hits. Sakho has looked very very average. Mignolet has bottled in the bigger matches whereas Allenis a bit Meh.

If Real comes in for Suarez they will have plenty of cash to spend. Lets hope his replacement is another Aspas and not another Sturridge.

Rodgers is not in charge of transfers, they have a committee who have repeatedly given him players he doesn't want including Aspas, Luis Alberto and Sturridge.

There's some talk he'll get more of a say this summer because of their success this season but at this point we don't know how he is in the transfer market because he hasn't had control of that at Liverpool or Swansea.

Suarez won't leave in the summer.

Can't see Liverpool spending the required £30m on this guy. I can see them spending around £50m net but they will be looking to recruit a handful of players with that. Shaw would present too bigger chunk of this.

He's United bound away

You can't afford a £30 million transfer fee and near 100k per week in ages, we can.

£50m is a lot to spend on players that won't significantly improve you IMO. Jose Enrique finished last season in good form and you kept 3 clean sheets in the first four games this season before his injury. At 28 he should be coming into his prime and I reckon he's good enough for a CL team.

Bit of arrogance from United fans in this thread. I'd almost bet that if VG comes in, he won't want him

How do you come to that conclusion?

According to senior sources at the Guardian the club is confident that the deal is a formality. Shaw is 18, homegrown, on the cusp of international football and incredibly talented, why Van Gaal would veto such a move is beyond me.

Van gaal might not agree with the price but I can't see him not wanting to sign a future England fullback for the next 10 odd years.

Or he may just bring in a promising Dutch young leftback from the Dutch league for 5m and keep Evra

Jetro Willems? Seen him a couple of times for PSV this season (Grandad is a PSV fan) and from what I've seen he isn't anywhere near as talented as Luke Shaw. I can't think of any other young left back in Holland right now.

I think we're nailed on to sign a new LB. I don't think Enrique is great and apparently the injury could have longer term consequences.

Martins Indi? Never seen him myself but heard good things and he plays CB too. Might be a good back-up to replace Buttner and offer CB depth.

I think so, he's played half and half looking at his stats. I guess we'd need to sign another left back along with him unless Van Gaal saw the potential to mould him into a full-time LB.

Hmm, think I'd be much more comfortable if we signed someone who is an out and out LB with bags of potential rather than looking to just spend less on someone who isn't as good. It does make you wonder why the sudden hush after days of "Shaw to sign for Utd" blah blah

Oh yeah me too, I'd be well happy with Shaw. Was just trying to think of a Dutch LB but I don't think they have too many good ones.

Most of what the media put out is bullshit anyway so they might be just caught up in the Van Gaal / Giggs who is new manager stuff.

I can understand some reluctance based off how overrated English players tend to be, but I think Shaw is the real deal and I'd be disappointed if we opted for a cheaper foreign option as United should always keep our British element in tact IMO.

I'm willing to bet a severe amount of money that he's coming to United.

But obviously anything can happen. I'm just very very confident he will come here.
