What is he doing getting back to fitness, there's not even a WC or Euro's coming soon, nor is his contract almost up?!
I get that it's frustrating but do people really think he fakes his injuries? Or that he doesn't work as hard to get back from them?

We can joke but he's clearly just very unfortunate. I think the leg break contributed a lot. He must struggle mentally a lot with these injuries.

Have to say I was impressed when he played as CB back in 22/23 season. Left CB in a back three could suit him even better but you just don't expect him to stay fit anymore. Has had issues with injuries his whole career but last 18 months it's been too bad. Contract until 2027 so if there are interested clubs club could decide to sell in summer.

He's very unfortunate of course, and it's also just frustration from my end seeing such a talented player never fit. Combined with some odd choices around coming back around important England games (i get his motivation) makes me vent.

We should cut our loses and he should move to a less demanding league if he wants to play more without the constant injury cycle. You see with Martial what a lower intensity league can do for health.

I know he is seriously injury prone, but I can't help but get buzzing whenever he's available. If we get him to the end of the season, he could be the definition of the age old cliche "like a new signing".

Probably get 30 mins out of him and then injured again.

That means getting 1 full month out of him, which I would absolutely take.

I don't think we'll get more than 2 games out of him.

I'm probably being too optimistic saying March you're right.

He's played a full 90 minutes for Utd once in the last 12 months and it was almost exactly a year ago vs Wolves.

In the last 12 months he's made 3 starts and came off at half time in 2 of them. Plus 4 other sub appearances. He's knackered, his body isn't cut out for top level football. There's no point getting excited for his return.

He is so unlucky with injuries especially in the last 2 years, his quality is undeniable but I think it's about time we accept he can't be of any value to us, it's best the club terminates his contract with a generous severance package and we move on from him.

I’m surprised people are still actually bothered about him returning at this stage

While I’m curious to see the impact he has in an Amorim team we all know it’ll only be a matter of time before he’s out for a prolonged period again

Exact same applies with Mount

It doesn’t help either that like Rashford he carries all the baggage of the last decade of failure, regardless of his own individual performances - we need a clean break with the past.

He’ll be back in training soon if he isn’t already now we’ve signed a LWB. Not that he’d play there anyway.

Back in Training again
Hope he doesn’t break down again as that could seriously break him this time.
It must be mentally draining and difficult to be continuously injured after all the efforts it takes to getting fit.

I don't think he will be considered for the LWB role as that getting up and down the pitch is going to break him, he'd be better for that LCB role to give Martinez a rest I think

There were numerous reports at the start of Jan that Shaw will be back in training by the end of the month.

Like signing Mason Mount!

Luke Shaw seeing the news this morning.

Yes, 100%. Footballers are people just like everyone else, being a footballer is a job just like any other job. We have all worked with someone that constantly calls in sick, goes home early, has a headache, etc. I don't think Shaw will completely fabricate an injury, but I think he will pick and choose how to utilize his injury to best suit his needs. If he needs a contract or a place in the England team he seems to be able to overcome the injury and put some performances in. When United is struggling at the tail end of the season, like last season or Rangnick's season he seems to milk these injuries and drag them out to avoid hard situations. He's a grifter, he's been stealing a living off United for years. Getting rid of him is as crucial as getting rid of Rashford.

Absolutely shameless he's back in training the day after we announce signing a leftback. I mean he just has to spend 2 minutes online to realize most United fans have figured him out and want rid. Have some fecking pride in yourself.

But this doesn't make any logical sense.

If he was always capable of being back in training why would he choose the day after we get a new left-back? Because he now has competition and wants to play? Surely if he just wanted to play he'd have been playing sooner as there's less competition.

And if he's such a grifter as you believe, why would a new LB coming in matter to him? We're still facing hard situations every week. Surely he'd just chill with his contract.

So you are saying that now Dorgu is coming in, Shaw thinks to himself "I best get back on the training pitch"? Even though they aren't even competing for the same spot (pretty sure Amorim has only used Shaw at LCB so far).

Is it not more realistic that he's just an injury prone player after having his leg snapped in two back in 2015? Nothing more to it IMO

Think you are letting your dislike for the player cloud your judgement there!

Want him out the club. Will never forgive him for travelling with England when it was blatantly obvious it was a huge gamble and he should've had the summer to rest and get fit for the upcoming season.

Warming up for them World Cup qualifiers in March then disappear until next season just before the next round of qualifiers begin in September :+1:

Same here.

I sympathised with his injury situations over the years but the England thing I just felt he didnt respect the club.

After seeing that picture of his leg from training a couple of months ago, I sadly doubt we will ever even see a run of games from him again.

Said it before, but I’m interested to see where he’ll play (LWB or LCB). I wouldn’t trust him not to get injured in what is an extremely demanding role at LWB but LCB is an option. Think I prefer Martinez though.
