Some fecking ruthless comments from Mourinho on Shaw.

Apart from Pogba, he's had the most to say about a specific player, who has probably played the least out of the entire team.

At least give him a chance to fail on the pitch ffs. Literally everyone else has been stinking the place for one whole game or 20 but Shaw get's a half then taken off.

How about stop looking for 'warriors' and start coaching football.
Well said mate. Couldn't agree more.

We need better fullbacks next season. Valencia has been shit attacking wise for a few Seasons now and Shaw is just not pushing on.
Agreed. Fullbacks are our top priority then any other position.

I had a high hope in Shaw, but it seems like he just couldn't be bothered. As a pro footballer, being keep in shape is the most basic thing for young player. Sadly, those injuries have fecked him up, though. It happens to many young players.

You what?

Play him 1 game out of nowhere, and then blame him for not pushing on and throw the toys out of the pram asking for new toys. If anything, Shaw needs a run of games and he will come good, just like he did earlier.

Whatever about the right and wrongs of the situation, cast your minds back to the Watford game towards the start of Mourinho’s first season, where he called out Shaw for not closing down their winger:

Fast forward well over 18 months and he’s saying:

To his mind, he’s still making the same mistakes and has the same weaknesses. Weaknesses which particularly seem to irk Mourinho.
Surprised Jose and his back team aren't teaching the players anything. :(

Even in his good run he did barely anything in attack as opposed to Young who has assisted and scored more (2 goals and 7 assists this season) in this season at full back than Shaw in his united career. Young isn’t the best but there’s a reason why we prefer him over Shaw.

Statistics aren't always the measure especially for defenders. Shaw being naturally left footed would offer us width while playing as a LB, something Young can never do as he is right footed and he will never go to the byline to create width, whenever Young plays our left sided attacker always go inside and get crowded out whereas Shaw would make space for our left sided attacker to flourish, helping the team as a whole.

Besides if Shaw has gotten the backing Young has and started many games, he would easily match those stats.

It’s quite unlikely he will ever have those numbers. He just can’t cross the ball at all. His main weapon is pulling the ball back into the box along the ground and that gets more predictable than young cutting in.

The bolded part is just wrong. I’d be surprised if shaw has more than 10 assists in his professional career so far and has scored 0 goals in his career so far

I wish it had been Valencia who had come off instead of Shaw.

My one problem with what is happening with Shaw is that period about two months ago. Shaw finally got a run of games, then rotated evenly with Young (albeit Young probably had tougher games), and at that period of time Shaw was playing better. I wish Mourinho had just stuck with him until his performances said otherwise, give him the proper run of games and get a definite answer one way or the other about whether he 'deserves' a claim at that spot. Instead we'll sell him at the end of this season and if he succeeds at his next club (which is quite likely) we'll always wonder what would have been if we'd given him the run of games that his performance deserved. To be fair it was probably the only time during the last two years where he deserved to get a run, but he deserved it nonetheless.

Just few weeks back when Young was suspended, he was forced to give Shaw game time and he did well. So much so that Jose himself praised him and said he'd get a new contract. What happened as soon as Young served his suspension? Shaw was dropped right off the bat.

If you are old enough, you are good enough. Different rules for different amount of experience.

I don't get how people can demand to give Shaw a run of games, hoping it will work out like that. You can't just keep having sex with your estranged wife hoping it will start working out again, need more than that, and if your dad points out her flaws for the fifth time, maybe it's time to listen to him. You don't really love her anymore, anyway, you just love the idea of your young, English, left-back of a wife.

Or maybe, just maybe, if its finally working out with your wife, don't dump her for your ex first chance you get.

I'm in two minds about the whole Shaw situation.

He's clearly not in peak physical shape which doesn't say much for his professionalism. It's not the first time this has been an issue too, Van Gaal was criticising his fitness 4 years ago.

That said, Jose just doesn't seem to rate him. Valencia was much worse yesterday than Shaw but it was Shaw dragged off at half time. He has absolutely no leeway with Mourinho, he has a bad or indifferent 45 minutes and he's subbed.

I'd like to see Shaw given a proper definitive run in the team, a real sink or swim situation and see how it does. But it won't happen.

He's off in the Summer and its probably for the best.

Very sure if you were to only take a pic of his chest, without telling anyone if its a man or woman, many men here would wank to his tits.

Valencia has also been getting hooked off recently in a number of games.

You've had a rough life when it comes to the quality of women you've been with.

He's not completed 90mins just 4 times all season. Just twice in the league. Think the fact that it happened in the palace game recently has stuck with you.

Happened against Sevilla too.

I think Valencia is one of Mourinho's stalwarts and him being hooked off sticks out.

He has been a good servant for us too, but I would go the City route and upgrade both our fullbacks this Summer.

You must love man tities, must have em too. I guess that is what offended you. Insecure much?

That doesn't even make sense given the posts before that.

Here's a clue, stop making pathetic posts about our players. Discuss his performance or stay the feck out of the thread.

Same here. You need FBs that contribute offensively especially when you play a double pivot.

I think irrespective of the formation with the rise of wide forwards it's absolute necessity that we have FBs who contribute offensively and are good at providing width which we are seriously lacking .

Yes, I agree with that. Just saying it becomes even more important when you're playing a double pivot.

Looks like the first decent offer we get for Shaw & Mou will get rid.

Mou obviously doesn’t see enough in training/general application/ability from him.

...and to be fair, if Ashley Young can do a job on Salah (despite a lot of people shitting their pants on here at that prospect beforehand) why would you bother with Shaw?

So, it’s looking like we’ll sign a proper replacement LB, maybe as soon as the summer.

I can’t see that making a massive difference. Like across the road. Plus there aren’t really the available players out there that would be an instant impact improvement.
I do think Valencia’s time has come to its end, probably a year or two late and from now on he should be a squad player, but for me how our Fullbacks are deployed is the problem.

I also found it a bit weird that after all the criticism Jose has had over team performance tactics yesterday he decided to change it as the magnifying glass was heading his way and he confidently made massive thing out of how he wanted the players to be aggressive, attack and so on and was animated on the touch line then later he throws a good few under the bus. Almost like it was staged, especially with his comments on investment earlier in the week.

See you later. Some of us would love to have had his ability and the opportunity to showcase it at Utd but like other players, weak mentality and a piss poor attitude. Yep Jose threw him under the bus but what's he done to not derserve it?

Joses ruined him.

When a manager doesnt like you, you just have to move on. No wonder he looks like hes put weight on he doesnt ever play.

best of luck at your new club luke.

People keep saying he's only played a 1 game in 20 or something like that.

Maybe Jose has been wanting to play him more regularly but he can't because Shaw is unfit and can't bomb up and down that touchline like he is supposed to for a top left back?

Never mind Jose, I wouldn't even put him on the bench at all looking at the state of him.

Jose hasn't ruined him, the same issues were apparent under LVG. The kid doesn't take his fitness seriously enough, LVG got through to him I think but then that awful injury completely derailed his career.

He's all about money and not about the game clearly.

He needs to leave Utd in the summer for the good of his career. No idea if he will ever achieve much or get back to any sort of regular form but he certainly will not do it there.

I am firmly in the jose out camp but the only thing that ruined shaw was his inability to work hard and keep himself fit.

A professional athlete with man b00bs and an a$$ that needs its own postal address, that isn't on the manager.

Look at the difference Matic has had on us.

For me it's not about signing megastars but finding the right fits to what Jose wants in his fullbacks. I think that will go a long way for us.

What on earth makes you think moving clubs will help his career?

Why do I constantly hear people sticking up for this kid, he's in a similar physical shape to Anderson during his time with United. Nobody afforded Anderson this level of respect. Luke Shaw hasn't the drive to play at the top level, that's clear enough for everyone to see if you want him sat on your bench at Spurs, fine by me.

You can have all the talent in the world but if you just don't want to dedicate your life to the sport, you're not going to make it. Luke Shaw is 20 years ahead of his era, he'd have been fine during 80's and 90's, footballers are athletes now, he's certainly no athlete.

I agree with Scholes, keeping Shaw after this season would parallel us keeping Anderson for years after it was obvious he was too inconsistent to ever be a first teamer at OT

Well he didnt say that so no you dont agree with him.

Because your manager does not appear to rate him at all? I don't want him at Spurs as I don't think he's good enough. It is clear he needs to move on though.
