Luke really put the full force of his arse behind that shot that caused the handball.

If he did that the ball would still be travelling, having cut a hole through the net, stadium wall and surrounding buildings in a 40 mile radius.

His crossing wasn't good but at least he was trying. Usually he defers to someone else as much as possible.

Can anyone explain why you are all raving about Shaw?

I want the lad to do well but he was average. Great bit of defending, especially with Lukaku, but toothless going forward. Looked slow and unwilling to run in behind.

There is no doubt he is a better player than the rest LBs in our squad. Like, they're not even LBs to start off with. Shaw is.

I hope he takes inspiration from today and works his socks off. We need him.

I think the euphoria of winning a dramatic penalty from a bit of a scuff shot has clouded people's views. He didn't do a single thing right until the penalty did he?
Yes, he stopped Everton from scoring by clearing a ball that would have gone to Lukaku(?) if he wasn't there.

He also said that he had to keep telling him where to be & what to do on the pitch. He said he if was playing for Everton, he would've been in big trouble because jose wouldn't have been there to keep telling him.

His attitude was exactly what we needed to see. A solid outing overall.

His final ball has always been a weakness and it still needs a lot of work. He needs to develop the necessary confidence to carry the ball forward more.

True, he did 1 single thing right all game before he won the penalty. That doesn't excuse his Sunday league crossing. It was not good enough for an attacking left back.

Mourinho gave 30 mins to make an impression. He exactly did that. Now its upto Mourinho to give him mins next match to build up the players game and confidence.

Nah, he cleared the ball with a header too. Would have been a chance for Lukaku if he hadn't.

Shaw was playing very well before his double leg break, he is not the first footballer to take a long time to come back from such a injury, give him support and the boy clearly has talent or have people forgot he was playing at a very high level before his breaking his leg.

very weird comments from jose post match re shaw...basically taking credit for his performance because he was stood next to him on the left.

That's more like the Shaw we want. His focused shot caused the penalty. He made some purposeful runs and good deliveries. All in all he showed agency and desire to change the outcome. I think he's played himself into the side at least for the next match. Jose hasn't any reason not to play Shaw now

Looked a bit tentative still to me but the lad must have no confidence left at the moment. Hopefully fights for his place on the back of his minutes today.

I was watching no less than 8 feet from my TV so I deserve much credit too

His crossing has been shocking. Hes also whipping the balls in from deep, which is fecking daft when the opposing team is sitting so deep.

I'm all for managers giving it to players when they aren't doing enough but this is just bullying and way overboard from Jose

Post match comments were unnecesarily harsh. Questioning his football brain and bringing up the money he is on? WTF?

I truly believe he has something against Shaw because he rejected Chelsea when Jose was there

Typical José, deflection at its finest by throwing others under the bus.

why did he say?

Took credit for his performance as he was telling luke what to do...if he was on the other side he wouldn't have played as well so he must do better.

criticising him for a hypothetical performance!

Nah, I think by 'other side' Jose meant if he was playing on the other wing, or other side of the pitch.

Still, I found his comments to be very strange

Give the kid a break. Shaw comes in the last 10 minutes, plays some good passes and then wins the penalty for us. Instead of praising Luke for saving us a point, Jose further blasts him for no apparent reason.

This. It's the other side of the pitch by the sound of it.

Sound like Luke Shaw doesn't understand the tactic, and the Mourinho had to remind him. That's what it sounds to me about this "football brain" comment

Throws all his young players under the bus continuously. Darmian is dreadful, Young is dreadful, Fellaini can't attack but he never says a word about the older players.

He almost sounds like he is blaming Rashford for being inconsistent LIKE ALL YOUNGSTERS ARE.

Mourinho's getting on my nerves to be honest.

Also a bit worrying, Mourinho basically just said his tactic was to pump the ball into the box at every opportunity. And yet STILL people refuse to acknowledge Mourinho's role in our attacking deficiencies.

It looked like he was trying to replicate the dinosaur football our manager wanted, to me. Crosses from deep up to our two target men, Ibrahimovic and... Fellaini.

He's just saying it as it is, we're man utd if we want to compete we don't have time for such inconsistency. In an ideal world he'd rotate him so we're not relying on him, which we are. He's shown massive trust in helping Rashford.

I also don't think Jose has said anything new on Shaw, basically he needs to mature quickly if he wants to nail that spot.
