Luke Shaw: ‘People can say I’m fat but I’ve never been out of shape’

I see the progressive libtards still deem fat shaming as par for the course

Typical pathetic responses interpreting things however suits. Look at Rooney at 16 and say you don’t get what shaw means. Further evidence against the mourinho bully and awful management myth also, but hey let’s believe the mirror instead of the actual words from the players mouth

His interviews are not interesting. Should do the talking on the pitch. Make that LB spot your own. If he barely plays, people look for reasons. If he would be tearing it up here, not many would care for his body

some of you lot must have great bodies. All you like to do is slag him for being fat, when he is far from it.

In my early twenties? I was a fit feck. And I wasn't making a fortune to do so in the biggest club at the world.

Rooney at his age was running like a man possessed, putting all action displays with tackles all over the pitch (often getting carded for it) and doing that for 45-50 games a season.

Shaw is gassed 50 mins into a game after working on nothing but his fitness for 5 months.

I don’t need a PhD in sports science to tell the difference. He’s nothing like Rooney was.

At least on the positive side, by letting us know he's like Rooney, that means we can plan ahead and make sure to sell him before he gets to 28.

Also I don't care if he's fat. Matt Le Tissier spent most of his career with a dad bod. He was an awesome footballer, Luke Shaw isn't.

I'd love to be proved wrong.

He’s talking about body shape, you’re talking about fitness. I don’t believe he has always been in shape at united as I agree with you I’m that he has looked unfit. But that doesn’t make him fat and doesn’t mean he isn’t correct to say that even at his best fitness level he will still look a certain way.

Are you suffering from a heatstroke? It'd be understandable with these temperatures.
 I’m always on here proper late, but no the other guy was suggesting that if he was on a tonne of money he’d be able to get in shape too... Nothing to do with the fact Shaw should be in shape because he’s a footballer. I think.

Because on that wage all I can afford to comfort myself is a donner kebab and chocolates.
Running is free, press ups are free, tri dips in the bath are free, sit ups are free! But fair enough. Shaw probably has some of the best nutritionists and personal trainers in the world.

Wayne Rooney + Luke Shaw =

Wayne Shaw

Hmmmm ... looks good! I'll have one, too!

Reminds me of a fridge magnet my nan has, it reads:
"I'm not out of shape, round is a shape"

He is the reason why we stop pursuing Alex Sandro and so he must deliver next season.

I would say Shaw was stupid for coming out with comments like that in an interview but that would be completely unfair on him. He’s not stupid, he’s just got that Wayne Rooney type of intelligence.

Great interview, and some decent insight to how Mourinho handles his players = The Caf goes on about his body for three pages.. The state of some of you...!

'Wayne Rooney type of body', at least we know he reads Caf too.

Glad to know that he's deluded. Enjoy your Wayne Rooney type of career where, if lucky, you feck off to the USA in a couple of years, hope we can somehow flog him to WHU for some absurd amount of money.

"Big Rig" Shaw you're fecking delusional.

You can eat all the pizzas you want after you retire!!!

It's fecking sad how this guy is wasting his career away. A few pounds of weight would make a universe of difference, but he seems to not give a feck. He can't be arsed to hire a nutritionist and eat like professional player.

What a waste... and to think how good he could have been. No heart to be the best.

“I was in Dubai with my girlfriend. It was funny – I was on my phone flicking through stuff. I got the text and accidentally clicked straight away [to reveal he read it]. The manager was probably thinking: ‘Jesus Christ!’I said to my girlfriend: ‘I’ve just opened it and I must look so weird now.’ It was fine. I left it a little bit to reply because I didn’t want to look too eager. It was a breath of fresh air when he texted me. I wasn’t expecting it. I spoke to him and it was really positive.”

What?
Now everyone thinks you are weird!

No one would even care if he was fat if he played good football. He could be the fittest guy on our team but still not get in because his overall ability on the pitch is below par right now.

Its good to know that Shaw still feels positively about his relationship with the manager and that Mourinho, in his own way, is trying to give him at least some confidence

This thread is a shit show though. Kids who would rather make fun of their clubs own players than support them. I don't consider them fans and they definitely dont fit the term Manchester United supporter.

The whole fat thing is irrelevant anyway. He's not a very good left back. Wish we'd get rid of him.

Body shape my arse. He was fit as feck when He first joined us. It's commitment issue but I understand not every footballers are able to keep themselves in "ideal" shape and it's okay as long as They're still doing well. Luke Shaw is not even close to doing well, He's a passenger and I hope He'll proof me wrong next season.

A Wayne Rooney type career is hugely successful...

He's gone two sizes up since he joined. I'd like to see him try those skinny jeans now. The lad's chubby for a footballer, right now. There's a reason you can instantly spot him on the pitch.

I don't know how big of a problem this is for him, to be honest. It might not be an issue. Bottomline is though, if you're not playing well people will criticize everything about you. If he starts performing nobody will care how fat he is.

Yes Jose challenges them to be the best they can be. Half the Caf take it as he’s being a bully and trying to force them out.
Jose really does strive to get a certain character of player, but it is never going to work for everyone. Glad to see young Luke is taking Jose’ words as inspiration and hope he kicks on this season, as somewhere in there, there certainly is a very good player...

He was barely an adult when he joined us. But still wasn’t anywhere near as slim as I was at 18.

I don't care if he is thin or fat as long as he does well on the pitch.

Yeah he did have a pretty pathetic career....oh wait:lol:

Good to see that Jose really believes in him.

I'm interested in as far as he's saying all the right things: I'm aware of criticism and am ready to take it on the chin and use it to spur me on, the manager knows what I can do and has been backing me behind the scenes, it's not been good so far but I want to prove I'm a United player etc.

All good stuff. Now the time for talking is over and the time for action in training and on the pitch is here. If in a few months he's showing improvement and nailing down his spot, great, if he's moaning in the media about his woes and his critics we know he's not the player for us and will be shown the door at the end of his contract.
