Lukaku - transfer speculation | Gone

He's proven to be such a baby. Talked a big game when Mourinho was around and he was first choice and playing despite underperforming for months.

Now that he doesn't have that invulnerability, he acts out and wants to leave.

That's not being a baby, that's wanting to play every week.

I doubt the shirt thing is true.

Inter fan here. We've been heavily linked to Lukaku lately, much to the chagrin of our fanbase. I'll be upfront: hardly any Inter fans I know/communicate with online want Lukaku, especially for the reported prices of 70 million+ Euros. Our new owners are quite wealthy and we've been freed from any FFP obligations, so in theory we have money to spend. How much money our owners are willing to spend remains to be seen.

Part of the problem of why we're dragging our feet on Lukaku is the Icardi situation. I won't bore you with the details, but it doesn't make much sense to buy Lukaku before we sell Icardi or else we'll lose all leverage on an Icardi sale.

It sounds like you guys are content keeping Lukaku on your bench this year if you cannot sell him, but I think our management is trying to call your bluff on this. Would you rather have 60 million Euros or an unhappy, benched striker who doesn't fit your manager's tactics? That's the game my team's ownership is playing right now. You obviously have more money than we do, so you can afford to keep him. I respect the negotiation process that is unfolding and am intrigued to see where it ends. The fact no one else seemingly wants him is in our favour.

Would appreciate any thoughts you guys have on Lukaku. It sounds like he's been a total bust and you would simply be dumping your trash on us. I'm also unconvinced that Lukaku has the characteristics necessary to succeed in Italian football.
So you are waiting to get the cash for Icardi first? Any idea where he's going?

He isn't a baby he's a 'grown ass man' remember
Talks the talk, but can't walk the walk. Total scared pussy cat, both on and off the field. His daddy Jose was there to protect him but now it got a bit tougher and the "big man" wants to run away.

The fact that He talked plainly about wanting to move to Itally and people on the Caf was not even angry at him shows you if most of our fans don't really care about him.

If it was Rashford He'd be crucified out of the fear of losing him.

If it was rashford there would be quite a few not that bothered either. I’d be delighted.

A lot didn't want him here in the first place, and apart from a brief period, I'd say the majority have never warmed to him.
I though when he originally came here that he was going to be very good following on from a season where he had 25 goals in the league, I thought he would do at least as well here if not better. Last year he should have had more than 12 goals in the League and a striker at a top club should noy go 2.5 months without scoring which was awful.

The only thing raising the price up for Lukaku is that he is the 1st choice striker for the number 1 ranked team in the world (international), we paid over where his price should have been to get him away from Everton, I am not saying we should not try to make our money back.... but a profit? however we should not be surprised given his inability to command a 1st team birth at a top club, 1st Chelsea and then us that we are getting a low ball offer

This one will rumble on for a while - probably right up to the wire - have a feeling that if this is to happen then this will be in a chain of events where several players are transferred close to enable the flowing of funds - think there is definitely a willing for this but as with most clubs this summer they are waiting for players to be sold in order to buy - there have been lots of transfer sagas this summer and so far not much movement - I think it will be PSG/Neymar that starts it all rolling.....

Id take that if Perisic is willing to play right wing.

We can be as hard on Lukaku as we want but the truth is, I dont think we will ever get another team that will want him as much as Inter do now.
40 of his 290 or so appearances have been at RW. He's scored 10 and assisted 4 at RW, as opposed to 58 goals and 52 assists in 214 games at LW. I'd rather not shove yet another left-sided player at RW instead of just buying a god damn RW for once.

This smells like the classic player ends up staying and scores lots of goals and people warm up to it story.

Nah, no players just money and invest in right wing.

That’s really not a bad goal return in 40 games for a winger though. I’d be happy with that. Gives us time to go after Sancho.

The staying part might still happen, but the rest seems a bit farfetched. He had enough people against him before his behaviour this summer, probably alienated anyone who had anything positive to say about him now.

This is key. We have a player that doesn't fit into our manager's plans. The player wants to go to Inter, Inter want him. They can offer decent-ish money but we will need to take a hit on the money we spent on him.

I don't see any point in keeping him and we're not going to get a PSG or Madrid last minute mega bucks offer. I'd rather he goes now, we get in an able bodied replacement (Ben Yedder would seem to be a relatively easy deal to get over the line it would seem) and focus on the coming season.

I believe this is why @NinjaZombie said "acting like a baby".

Don't really have an opinion on him holding the Inter shirt.

You fight for your right to play every week by outperforming the competition not running away

He is not the type of striker Ole wants as first choice. Same way I understood if Pogba and de Gea left, I understand why Lukaku wants to leave.

Lukaku will score goals wherever he goes, he has shown that at WBA, Everton and United.

But he is not a player that fits the style of fast passing, all the teams he has scored goals play off him.

Class striker on his day but unfortunately, does not fit Ole's style. Turn back 12 months when Jose said, Romelu is my only striker so have to play him without giving rashford a chance.

This comment makes no sense. Unless you are saying Lukaku is leaving us because he has higher ambitions than our club?

You certainly always imply something with your comments but never fully explain what exactly. Is Ole dumb in your eyes for not making Lukaku the undisputed number 1? Is Lukaku your favourite player? I ask this, because you really like to defend him.

I said before he is leaving because he wants to be first choice. I actually like Rashford more than Lukaku.
