Morata is the more rounded and better striker, and fo same price would take him over Lukaku. Lukaku just seems to limit the attacking options.

OT: Its funny that many are concerned about how us buying players from Madrid would help them fund Mbappe but show little to no concern for funding PL teams like Everton or Spurs. Whatever squad Madrid builds has little to no impact on our domestic success but funds available to other PL does and 75m to everton would help improve their team
You forget that we are giving them Rooney.

Both would be ideal. If only one, Lukaku, he is a more consistent scorer and is PL proven.

Lukaku is a low risk as he's a proven goalscorer which Morata isn't. Morata's potential will be higher if this season is indicative of his improved finishing, since he's a better all round footballer.

Lukaku since he is actually a guarantee of scoring a ridiculous amount of goals.

Lukaku gives us that physical presence we would be missing without Ibra, Morata would be more technical and finesse. Would have been excited about either to be honest but at this point I'd prefer another midfielder over Morata.

Lukaku, and I would have said that before today

But I would be interested to see poll results if Morata was almost a done deal

I wanted Morata, but happy enough with Lukaku.

Would love to have both though.

To be fair I would be happy either way. But if given one choice , I would be slightly inclined towards lukaku because he is a proven goal scorer in pl. And yes his first touch may not be the greatest but his hold up play is far from bad.

For now we need a goal scorer, and lukaku will give us that.

At the start of the window I thought that the prices would be £130m Kane, £100m Lukaku, £60m Morata, and Lukaku looked nailed on for Chelsea. So it would have been Kane, Morata, Lukaku. Now that Lukaku is £75m and Morata around about the same then I would probably go for Lukaku.

The fee's for players dosen't bother me as I don't think the glazers would sanction anything they thought would be detrimental to the business, but there is a greater risk with Morata and Lukaku has been scoring goals for a few years in the premier league. I prefer Morata as a footballer, but Lukaku scored goals and his link up play is not as bad as alot of people make out.

I still rather have Kane for more money but that isn't going to happen for any price.

Lukaku.

Reason being is because Lukaku is more proven. He has scored goals everywhere he's gone, whereas, Morata has sometimes struggled to do that. And with our current situation, we need someone who can carry us. Lukaku already knows what it's like to carry a team, as he's done it for Everton. Albeit, United and Everton are very different sides. I mean, they'll be a lot more pressure on him to do at United, but I think he can do it. He has that arrogance about him.

Morata, on the other hand, has his highest ever goal scoring tally this season, with 15 goals. Granted it was with a team he didn't start much for, before that, he has never scored 15 or more goals in top flight football.

Obviously that's not to say he can't do it, but I would much prefer someone who will guarantee us goals. That, and the fact Lukaku knows the premier league inside out now.

I pick Lukaku because he has shown that he can consistently score 20 goals a season. Morata has scored 20 just once in his career. With Lukaku, you know what you are getting whereas Morata is more of a gamble.

Apples and Oranges. Both have outstanding qualities. Very hard call to separate the two.

What does it say .I don't follow Spanish football ? .Oh the sin.

He has been active for Juventus in Italy, he has been active in the CL for 2 teams reaching the finals, he has been active for Spain at the euros. He has been been linked in alot of transfer rumours over 2 summer windows with moves to us, Chelsea, Milan, Juve, Real.

If you don't know him you just don't follow alot off football in general. Which is ok but that doesnt mean Morata is an unknown entity that just came dropping from the Sky out of nowhere.

They're very different types of players but Morata was definitely my preference.

I wasn't a fan of how inflexible the attack was with everything revolving around Ibrahimovic last season and I don't think Lukaku will do much, if anything, to remedy that. I think Morata is a far more complete player and would've brought more balance to the attack by elevating the players around him as well as directly contributing. The lack of goals spread throughout the team was as big a problem as any last season and we've got the personnel so I would've preferred a slight change in approach rather than going down the same road again next season.

I hope I'm proven wrong, of course, but I think there are too many flaws in Lukaku's game to make him the main man like that.

Is there any chance of us getting both?

If Griezman is still signing some time soon then Lukaku seems a better spoil for him than Morata, Lukaku is a genuine #9 while Morata is more of a 9.5

Morata intrigued me more since I had no idea what he could become. He was the exciting, unknown quantity who could have torn it up in the PL. Lukaku on the other hand is less exciting, but in all likelihood no less effective. You just know exactly what you're getting, which in our position is no bad thing.

Lukaku - younger, a more proven player (has been playing top level for many years), way better goalscorer, played for various clubs and proved himself in each one. 32 goals in 44 appearances last season, way more than Morata has done in 4 seasons.

Morata, better all round game, would improve us as an functional attacking unit.
Disappointed.
I'm not sure if having a teamworker to help others score goals will work when we don't have anyone else to score goals. Might have worked well if we had signed a griezmann type second striker

Can't complain at either really but neither are perfect. Lukaku hype has fluctuated whilst Moratas escalated over the summer, always good to look at the start of player threads at times like this.

Id say Lukaku mainly because being a proven goalscorer is pretty damn important
