Sorry if i sound negative but going from close to signing the 3rd placed ballon d'or player to maybe sign of of these players are the most anti climax feeling ever. Summer is over peepz!
If potentially signing Mbappe is an anti climax, then that's being incredibly negative. He's more sought after this year than Griezmann. Anyway, this isn't a thread to moan about not signing Griezmann.

Signing Mbappe would be incredible, but he's another player that season after season you'd be terrified that his absolute love for Real Madrid would kick in and he'd want/force a move.
Am i correct in thinking he's already expressed his desire to move to Real? Or he's waiting for Real?

Mbappe would be my first choice, followed by Auba (who seems PSG bound), and Morata (who is going to Milan). I would prefer Kane over Lukaku, Belotti, even if it costs more. Lacazette is a good option who would be cheaper than all these players, but I don't think we should view him as a player for long term.

I don't get this line of thinking where people are afraid to lose out to Madrid five years down the line. If it happens, it'll be for a record fee and he'll probably have led us to titles in the process. Ronaldo left, so what. We won loads while he was here.

Lukaku isn't a real bad option. Don't know why people prefer Kane over Lukaku?!

Because Kane is leagues better then him, it's quite simple. Kane scores 87 in 100 or something mental. He also does it in big games, has good hold up play and is very versatile

Really? Not exactly sure why that is. Not as though Kane has ripped up any trees at Spurs.
Not sure if you're joking?

Kane been averaging close to a goal per game in the Premiership for three seasons running, and has been the top goalscorer in the league for the two previous seasons, despite spending significant time on the sidelines in both seasons. Lukaku is simply a level below.

If we're going to go all out for an out and out striker then Lewandowski is the one, I think he's only behind Suarez as the best number 9 in the game and he's proven at the highest level.

I think we'd get Lewandowski for £70-£80 million which is cheaper than the sums being quoted for Bellotti, Lukaku and Mbappe and for anyone saying he wouldn't leave Bayern how do we know ? If Bayern were offered that amount of money it may very well tempt them into accepting and we can offer bigger wages than he's on.

Mbappe, no chance.

£100Mm+ on an 18yr old, small lad who will have the responsibility of leading out frontline on all four competitions......Jose does not do this, I'm sorry, and nor should he.

I can safely guarantee that while Mbappe will be incredible, it won't be with us. Focus on a strong, battle-tested striker who can do the dirty work - scoring goals - while we also invest in more creativity and speed to supply that man.

Kane also plays in a superior team to Lukaku. If you look internationally, the roles are reversed. Again, who has the superior team creating the chance for the striker...

Out of the possible options, I would say Lukaku is the most likely target. I don't really like the player that much, but he is a talented centre forward who we might be able to get more out of than Everton. I doubt they would be too keen to deal with us though.

Big clubs don't get rid of their best players like that. There's more to it than just the sheer amount money waved in front of someone's face. They also need some kind of partial stability in the wake of inevitable end of the road for Ribery and Robben. It's a nonstarter.

unimpressed by belotti and really not sold on lukaku.

june 1st, a week or so after winning europa and already not feeling very positive. hopefully a night's sleep will help.

Given that Mbappe isn't a possibility, I would take Belotti out of the remaining options. I feel like he embodies the determination and work rate that Mourinho loves to see in his players. I really fill he could be a very successful signing for us but he would need service from our wide players, which brings me to my next point - we need a wide player.

Belotti is like a 20-24 year old Rooney without being technically sound and is better in the air. It maybe a good gamble but at this stage, do we really want to gamble? Mbappe is probably not gonna be possible and Morata is off to Milan. Lacazette is not what we require which leaves us with Lukaku as our best bet. He's not my first choice but by process of elimination and I think he'll gel a lot quicker than say Belotti in the team.

PS: On a side note, one of the main reasons we haven't performed so well has been team chemistry ON the field and being on the same wavelength. We need to get players that can work together as a cohesive unit than depend on individual brilliance in every game to win us a game.

We are going to end up with Lukaku aren't we? :(

His workrate is going to frustrate every United fan and his attitude is questionable when things have not been going right for him. Also we don't have the right wingers in the squad to play to his strengths. Mbappe seems like he has his eyes set on a move to Madrid while I do like Belotti, he's a good finisher and his game is very like Suarez in some ways and works hard but I just don't think Jose will look at him at this point

There have been very few Icardi links. Is he realistic, and would anyone want him here?
Definitely more realistic than Mbappe (I don't think Mbappe and Mourinho will ever be on the same side) and yes, I'd want him here. Especially since Perisic is also arriving from Inter (rumoured, of course).

Better off throwing £100m at Tottenham and trying for Harry Kane than any of this lot.

Fergie was right - there's no value in the market!

Signing Lukaku would be brilliant.
On form he's devistating and for me, along with Kane and Aguero, is a top3 striker in the PL.

Those who say Kane's in a class above need to remember that he also has players supporting him that are in a class above those supporting Lukaku at Everton.
Kane's finishing and first touch is better while Lukaku is stronger and faster.

I'd probably pick Kane if given the option, but he's by no means levels above like some are suggesting.

We desperately need Lukaku. Give them 60m+Rooney or something like that and make it happen.

He will be our number 9 for the next decade if we get him. He's only 23!!!

If we can't get Mbappe or Griezmann it'd be wiser to save our money for future spending. The others are too technically limited

Mbappe - He could be a one season wonder. Too young and untested in PL, we already have Rashford and Martial.

Lukaku - When I've seen him play, he doesn't seem to have the touch, ball control and intelligence we need when we are playing against teams who park the bus. Definitely don't want him.

Belotti - I don't know much about him but his price seems too high.

Lacazette - He is worth a shot.

Why not go after Kane, Aguero, or even Cavani?

First two we won't get, as neither Spurs nor City would sell. Cavani is 30, would be rather expensive and I'm not sure if he's United quality.

Morata is in my eyes hands down the best option and we should do our best to get him - although I understand he has his eyes on Milan. I'd much rather take a punt at Belotti than go for Lacazette/Lukaku, Mourinho type of player, good with both feet, strong. Could work pretty well as our #9
