I don't think that Morata is underrated. I mean, he isn't bad, but scoring against really weak teams when you play with people like Isco, James, Asensio or even Kovacic. Well, it doesn't impress me.

Even Rashford would score a pair of goals against teams like Granada or Leganes.

Mbappe looks like he's going to be an amazing player, I just don't know if he's suitable to play as a no.9 in a very physical league. Looks a tad light weight to me. I think Belotti might suit us, it's just whether he can take a step up.

There have been very few Icardi links. Is he realistic, and would anyone want him here?

It seems he really loves Inter and doesn't want to go, few weeks ago he said:

I want to play in Champions League with these colors because it’s the team that made me grow, the team that made me arrive where I always wanted to be, because it’s the team that gave me the responsibility of being captain and I’ll represent it with pride and honor, always, in good and especially bad moments but especially because it’s the team I love

Mbappe is not a number 9, no? He usually plays on the wings (mainly the left) and cutting in defenders with his pace and trickery. Find it weird that Jose is considering him as one. Even if he is, he's not quite good enough yet for someone being so young

Apparently our main priority is a centre forward, which makes sense. These are the three we seem to be linked with most, and all three have their pros and cons. If we're only to sign one, which I think is a safe bet, who would you prefer we signed?

Lukaku

Pros: Most productive striker in the league. Powerhouse CF in the Jose mould.
Cons: Tendency to go missing in the big games (I'm not worried about this one, as I think being the focal point for us is vastly different to leading the line for Everton). Price? £100m. Not my money, but that's a lot of money all the same.

Mbappe

Pros: Best young player in world football (arguably). Potentially the next big thing, as well as the most productive forward in world football in 16/17.
Cons: It's one season, nothing to say he'll replicate the same form next season. Age: this works against him, because whilst he can improve massively on already outstanding performances, he can also drop off as young players are usually inconsistent. And linked to both is price. He'll cost at least 100m, but probably closer to 120m. That's a lot of money when you take into account his potential for inconsistency in years to come before he finally settles.

Belotti

I don't know enough about him to be honest, but from what I've seen he reminds me of Inzaghi and that's probably the exact type of player we need. A fox in the box who can finish the myriad chances we create in order to properly kill off games. The price might be the only difficulty here with 80m being touted in the press.

What say the Caf?
What's the point of a big powerful center forward that can't hold the ball up cause his touch is so poor?

I don't think we create THAT many chances. We created loads of chances when Ibrahimovic was on the pitch, as soon as he was off we made a lot less chances. Belotti and Lukaku I am not too keen on for their quoted prices considering they both have the touch of an oaf.

I think people go overboard on Lukaku's hold up play. It's not top level, but it isn't shite either. It's an area of his game he can improve on imo.

One name is missing. Lacazette.

I would sign Lacazette over all these of those options. - Atletico Madrid can no longer sign players. We should make a move for Lacazette I think he would suit us nicely.

Lukaku: Big Con that is missing from above post his his Wayne Rooney-esque first touch. His ability to get lazy when things don't go his way. Everton want £100m. He is worth about 40-50M at best.

Mbappe is the last player we should sign. Another Monaco player (The one at Utd can't get a game, has no trust from the manager. Mbappe is also very similar to Rashford, the way he plays, his age. He is of course better than Rashford at the moment but Big investment for someone who is similar to what we already have. Plus Mourinho is the last person I'd want managing Mbappe.

Guarantees goals when you build a team around him, but why build a team around him if you have players like Martial, Pogba, Mkhy, maybe Griezmann/James. Just like Belgium doesnt and he isnt half as good.

You don't need to 'build a team' around Lukaku. You just put him upfront and he gives you a plethora of options. Get crosses in and he'll score headers, put the ball in behind and he can run on to it, knock it into his feet in the box and he's got the strength to hold off a defender and get a shot away with either foot.

You are pretty much spending ridiculous amounts for both Mbappe and Lukaku. Mbappe is easily the most exciting to have even if there is risk involved. Belotti is just pass for me based on nothing.

I would faaaar rather a proper 9 and James Rodriguez than Griezmann tbh.

Would prefer Kane over all of them to be honest. He will go on to be on Shearer's level IMO so we need to get him whatever the cost.

Lacazette does seem to be overlooked on here for some reason. Could be because people undermine good goalscoring records in Ligue 1, didn't stop Ibra's record from being lauded when we signed him though.

The fact that there were strong links suggesting Lacazette would be Griezmann's replacement at Atletico should indicate how highly the Spanish club rate Laca, and they're usually not half bad at signing strikers.

I think everyone would. But I can't see him leaving Spurs for a long time. Definitely not this summer.

If an 100 mill offer comes in then I can. Not saying that Levy would accept but it would make him think thats for sure.

He can do this against smaller teams, vs better opposition he is easily neutralized.

Mbappe is the only one I would want on that list. I would be disappointed if we spent 100m on Lukaku, I can see Jose going for Lukaku though.

For the age and ability demonstrated by Mbappe it's not even close. He was destroying teams in the Cl this season at 18! Him and Rashford would be frightening together, give any defense nightmares. Lukaku is young and premier league proven but is he the level of Mbappe. Belloti is a tenacious suarezesque player, great season at a mediocre side. If you can buy Mbappe it would be such an investment, even resale in 5 years he would be 23! £100m for Lukaku is outrageous too, he's done nothing in Europe to warrant that price tag, feck Everton.

I'd go with Lukaku. Mbappe isn't a sure thing and seems to 'dream of Madrid' while Lukaku is PL proven and still young.

He scored 3 goals in open play against the top 6 teams last season, only Aguero scored as many. Ibrahimovic and Costa got 2 each. Sanchez and Kane just the 1. Are all the best goalscorers in this league 'easily neutralised' against better opposition? Or is it fair to say that every player in the world finds it harder to score against better teams and singling Lukaku out for this is unfair?

It isna fact that he has been underperforming vs top opposition for some time, I have never seen him excell vs a good defence (which Arsenal and City dont have but City look to sign Mendy, Walker and van Dijk that would change), nor for Belgium. He is a bit of a donkey, relying a lot on physique but misses that finesse. He'll batter the minnows, which does increase your chances of top4. Ibra didnt play vs Arsenal, City, Spurs, Chelsea the 2nd time round, very flawed comparison.

Think we'd instantly become a top 3 team but no serious contender.

Now that Griezmann has confirmed he basically staying at Madrid. Also it looks like Morata is on his way to AC Milan. Two Mbappe bids have already been rejected 100m+ He is clearly not for sale.

It has to be Lukaku, Belotti or Lacazette. I'm saying we go for the latter. I think he is the best option. I don't see us paying Belotti buy out clause. Lukaku for me is not that good. Isn't worth Everton's estimation.

Lacazette for me is the best value.

I prefer Morata to the others. I guess Lacazette would be my second choice.

Didn't consider Mbappe, because I don't see us relying on a striker that young to lead the line.

Want Mbappe but it's never going to happen.

We'll get Lukaku.

From these 3 I'll go for Mbappe, but his price is ridiculous, though. I don't want both Lukaku and Belotti but if I have to choose then Lukaku, at least he's proven in EPL not like Belotti.

Lacazette will be a good striker especially if we get him at a reasonable price. Not world class but not bad either.

All names listed for the number 9 position aren't really encouraging for me.

Belloti for me, Mbappe just isn't going to happen, and probably shouldn't anyway, and Lukaku is not right for us imo.

Because frankly speaking Mbappe looks out of reach I'd go for: Dzeko + Belotti

If there is a strong chance of getting Griezmann next year then I'd rather a stop gap.
