Apparently our main priority is a centre forward, which makes sense. These are the three we seem to be linked with most, and all three have their pros and cons. If we're only to sign one, which I think is a safe bet, who would you prefer we signed?

Lukaku

Pros: Most productive striker in the league. Powerhouse CF in the Jose mould.
Cons: Tendency to go missing in the big games (I'm not worried about this one, as I think being the focal point for us is vastly different to leading the line for Everton). Price? £100m. Not my money, but that's a lot of money all the same.

Mbappe

Pros: Best young player in world football (arguably). Potentially the next big thing, as well as the most productive forward in world football in 16/17.
Cons: It's one season, nothing to say he'll replicate the same form next season. Age: this works against him, because whilst he can improve massively on already outstanding performances, he can also drop off as young players are usually inconsistent. And linked to both is price. He'll cost at least 100m, but probably closer to 120m. That's a lot of money when you take into account his potential for inconsistency in years to come before he finally settles.

Belotti

I don't know enough about him to be honest, but from what I've seen he reminds me of Inzaghi and that's probably the exact type of player we need. A fox in the box who can finish the myriad chances we create in order to properly kill off games. The price might be the only difficulty here with 80m being touted in the press.

What say the Caf?

All depends on price. Madrid and Citeh have already bid 130m Euros for Mbappe apparently, so it would take something like 150m from us to sign him imo. That's a bit too much and would throw off the rest of our transfer strategy. Lukaku at 100m is also far too much when we could get Moratta for a third that much. As for Bellotti, I'm not entirely convinced how effective he will be in England.

Realistically Lukaku would work but for the muppetastic signing, nothing better than Mbappe at the moment.

Martial or Rashford for the no. 9 and Mbappe to play from the left.

There were reasons for that at the time. He wasn't at the level he is now, and Jose had other options. It's a different ball game now.
Sorry, I totally agree with you that things have changed, and while Jose has too (see Mata), I just can't see him buying Lukaku at at anywhere near that price.

Icardi

I would take Mbappe, mad not to, but i odnt think he is available/wants to come. Therefore Belotti.

I agree, it's all down to price. I think it'll cost too much for Mbappe and in many ways I'd prefer we bought someone already in his prime, or approaching it. I'm not sure inexperience is what we need, although there's no doubting his talent. I think we should be able to get Everton down to 70m-80m for Lukaku which seems a fair price to me, and won't disrupt our transfer policy for this window.

In terms of goals and assists, Lukaku just about edges him on a per minute basis. Which is a statistic that doesn't tell the whole story, I accept.

I would choose Mbappe every time. Lukaku is the proven player in the league right now, but I have a feeling that Mbappe is going to be a very special player.

Lukaku. Guarantees goals. Suits a Mourinho team. Hell he is even living in the north west already.

If Morata is that high in Jose's preference, I'm sure we can offer him enough money to turn his head. On top of that, we have CL football and play in a better league than Milan. Jose was the one who gave him his debut as well. If he still wants to go to Milan for his wife, then feck him.

They're all over-priced. Whichever we get we will get fleeced. With that in mind I would rather get fleeced for Mbappe who has at least a chance of a higher resell value to Real later on.

How dare players factor their personal life into their decisions. feck those weaklings.

No love for Morata?

I think he is the most likely #9 signing tbh. Di Marzio has said both himself and Mbappe are our main targets. Mbappe is unrealistic.

Could potentially get Morata and a wide forward (Bernardeschi?) for the price of Lukaku. That's probably what I'd be looking to do.

Lukaku is probably the safest option whereas Mbappe the least safe yet I'd absolutely love it if we gambled on him, world record fee or not. He's got it all imo.

Mbappé and Llorente as cover. If we go for any of the other two, the experienced, more physical cover not necessary.

Not so much love as just an acceptance that he's probably the best option out of a bunch of fairly uninspiring ones. Does that count?

I actually think Morata is very underrated generally. He'd be a perfect fit within a Mourinho type system. I hope we get him, and will hopefully leave more money in the bank for Griezmann.

Morata + Griezmann > Mbappe

There have been very few Icardi links. Is he realistic, and would anyone want him here?

This.

Madrid will never sell us a moderately good player.

I can't believe Belotti is so underrated on here. 25 in 29 league games for a side which placed 9th. Very technical all round striker who's a much better fit than Lukaku.

Even compared to Mbappe who scored 15 for the league winners.

Mbappe out of the 3 listed, Lukaku is so limited and will never be a truly elite striker who wins you a CL, Belotti is harder to call, I don't think he'll ever be a top #9 but he's a very good team player that would get more from the other forwards we have than Lukaku who needs to whole attack catered towards him.

Remember when we had Cole,Yorke,Teddy and Ole:(.That's how you win League titles/Champions League.

None of the above as they cost far too much.
However, if we really are spending that much then I'd have to take Mbappe.
He may not live up to his potential but RM and citeh have also noticed him so no smoke without fire.

Yeah I don't disagree with this. I just meant that he doesn't really set the pulses racing as a potential signing. Tbh I might very well be underrating him as well, I don't watch Real/Juve that much.
