Moyes had lunch with the journos out in Malaysia and told them he wanted 2 new CMs.Aren't we looking for a goal scoring midfielder?
A non starter.
I think he would be excellent if we want to play a team with two holding midfielders like Bayern last year.
Carrick plays the Schweinsteiger role and Luiz Gustavo the Martinez role, goals have to mainly come from our three attacking midfielders and the striker anyways.
He would be an excellent buy, although we would like Fabregas as 1st choice.
It wouldn't be an attacking enough pairing for the majority of our games to be honest if we were to get him, but useful for certain games/situations.

What are you talking about you nutter?
You said that you couldn't compare Fellaini to Gustavo because,
I am saying that you are ignoring all of Fellaini's Everton career (not Belgium, feck knows where you got that from), where he played as a defensive midfielder.
We can compare them because we have seen Fellaini play defensive midfield, well you apparently haven't but most of us have.
Transfer news: Luiz Gustavo happy to remain at Bayern Munich
Luiz Gustavo: Happy to stay and fight for a place at Bayern Munich
The Brazilian midfielder has seen his place in the Bayern side called into question following the summer arrivals of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara.Luiz Gustavo insists he is not looking for a move away from Bayern Munich amid mounting transfer speculation.
It is difficult to see how Pep Guardiola is going to fit the wealth of talent he has at his disposal into a starting XI, and keep everyone happy over the course of the 2013/14 campaign.
The potential availability of Gustavo has been noted at Wolfsburg, who have admitted to holding an interest, while Arsenal have also been linked with an imminent approach.
Gustavo is aware that his future has become the subject of much conjecture, but the 26-year-old says he has not sparked the rumours and would be happy to remain at the Allianz Arena.
A man who helped Bayern to an historic Treble last season told Deutsche Presseagentur: "I want to stay on at Bayern Munich.
"I am under contract with the club and I want to fulfil that commitment.
"I have been in a position to fight for a first team role throughout my career. I will keep on fighting this year, too."
Pretty sure he will consider a move if one of the top clubs comes knocking. Of course he won't move to Wolfsburg, that wouldn't help him at all if he wants to start for Brazil at the world cup.

Something I asked in the fellaini thread. How does this lad compare to him? From what little I've seen of him, comes across as someone who could both partner and play in place of carrick.
He's easily good enough, to be fair it's not hard to be when our third best midfielder is Anderson. He could partner and play in the place of Carrick. But, he is simply not good enough to bring in.

All we can do at this point is hope. We aint signing a world class midfielder. I guess we have to settle for the likes of Gustavo and Fellaini. They arent terrible by the way either. For now we need options and they might do. All the good ones are young and settled in their club and the older, experienced ones will be more expensive. We have to look at 2nd tier players for now.I don't know good enough or not but sure hope we do get a better quality midfielder than him. Still think we should have gone for Paulinho.

I was just referring to the players we were linked. Not trying to group them.Don't put Gustavo and Fellaini in the same category, Gustavo is a much better player.

In my opinion, we need a creative/dynamic midfielder and a younger back up to Carrick. Don't think Gustavo fits in either category.
You are right that time might be running out to sign a really top class player. However, I would rather we spend money on McCarthy and Cabaye.
He's miles better.No he isn't.
