Wouldn't want a striker except he was a proven goalscorer in the big levels. Get me David Villa anyday over everyone else in the game.

Suarez plays down Prem move talk

In-demand Ajax starlet Luis Suarez has ruled out a move to Manchester United or Chelsea in January - but has hinted at a move next summer.

The Uruguayan is being tracked by Europe's elite with Barcelona also interested, alongside the Premier League giants.

The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form this term with 16 goals already to his name.

But Suarez - who has been playing in Holland since 2006 when he joined Groningen, where he spent just one season before linking up with Ajax - insists he is staying in Amsterdam until next summer.

"Anyone can keep on talking about Barcelona, Manchester United or Chelsea but at the moment I have my mind focused on Ajax, where I hope to stay at least until June," he stated.

"I want to stay at Ajax, so personally there isn't any offer for me from other teams.

"It could keep on being said that Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea want me but I am going to stay at Ajax until June."

Thats what you call long term commitment.

To be fair he has completely outplayed the Dutch League.. He needs to move before he starts to stagnate and moreover form a huge ego (unless he already has one)

There's not really much point for him to stay in Holland, football there is hardly competitive and Ajax have failed to make Champions League for ages already which doesn't help his development. Last time I remember them doing well in Europe is 2003, they were extremely unlucky not to beat Milan and go through in quarter-finals.

The first I saw of this guy was a piece about him on Futbol Mundial, this guy looks incredible from the limited footage I have seen. Obviously there have been a fair few strikers who have been outstanding in the Eredivisie then not quite managed it elsewhere (Bergkamp at Inter, Kezman at Chelsea and more recently, Alves for Middlesbrough) but what does anyone else think of this lad? Is the South American United 'curse' another decisive factor?

He seems an awesome player. Admittedly I'd never watched him prior to this season, but I watched an Ajax game by chance, and I've never been so impressed by a player in the Dutch league since Romario. From what I've seen of him since, he seems phenomenal at orchestrating their game and his finishing is top notch too.
I'm adding him to Santa's Wish List which currently includes Lloris (I hope Lyon have been really badly behaved this year) and Krasic (as a stocking filler).

feck! I was just about to make a thread on that.

14-1. fecking hell! Can you imagine?

He's got a bit more to his game than a Kezman, Kuyt or Alves though. I'd love us to sign either him or Mata.

Am always very scepticle of so called goal machines from the dutch league....baring Ruud weve had the likes of Kuyt/Kezmen/Afonso Alves to name but a few whove all be pretty crap lets be honest....

And the first two made their name when the Dutch league was considered a lot stronger than it is now.

Well I'd score six if I was playing against an Under 8's team, it's probably about the same case of playing below his level.

This league's been dropping off in quality every year, and I believe I said years ago that the league's been at its lowest point ever... and it has gotten worse.

I'm sceptical about him and he scores alot of 'frommel goals', the type of player who somehow regularly just dribbles the ball in a crowded area and, whilst tripping and tumbling his way over the ball/his own feet/the opponent and the ball ricocheting around, it always falls back to him somehow and scores... either that or he finds a dive inbetween one of the above-mentioned actions.

He has a bit of class, can do more with the ball than previous top scorers (Huntelaar, Kezman, Alves, Kuyt <--- shocking list btw! all absolute destroyers in Holland, average to crap outside) in this rubbish league, but still...

This was the Dutch Cup against a team I have never heard of before (I grew up in Holland) which means that they are likely amateurs.

Cup match or League game.. Suarez needs to move on ASAP He simply has to move on to a better league to enhance his career.. Even if he has to move to a bigger club in France or Germany.. He must move on this January..

If Ajax are holding firm on 35m or more it's going to be difficult to sell him. Or perhaps not. But if per say Villa goes to Real, Aguero to Chelsea, Dzeko to Milan, does that leave only City to bid that much for him? Even if Villa somehow managed to end up at City or United, would Real drop that kind of quid for Suarez? They may just stick to what they have.

I can't imagine United bidding 35m for another South American player. The history of South American players at United making the grade isn't that great. At that price the pressure will be far greater than Anderson has burdened on himself. Veron, Forlan, Kleberson...

Well, if Villa, Aguero and Dzeko all move that doesn't necessarily lessen the group of suitors - Valencia, Atletico and Wolfsburg will all be looking for a new striker!

Assuming those clubs are willing to pay that kind of money for the player. Valencia would be selling to cover financial problems. Why would Wolfsburg turn around and spend more on a new player than what they sold their asset for? I also doubt Atletico are going to splash 30m+ on a player.

They really wont.. He will go for much less than that..

AJAX hitman Luis Suarez has given Manchester United and Arsenal the green light to launch a £30m summer swoop.

And the Uruguay international is prepared to snub advances from Chelsea and Manchester City to land his dream move.

The Premier League’s top four are all eyeing up the 23-year-old, who has scored 62 goals in 87 appearances for the Dutch giants.

But Starsport understands the highly rated forward will only consider switches to Old Trafford or the Emirates if he leaves for England at the end of the season.

Suarez feels his game will blossom under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger and is ready to reject more lucrative deals from moneybags City and Chelsea to work with the top bosses.

United manager Ferguson is a big admirer of Suarez and has kept a close eye on the striker’s progress with a view to a summer move.

Suarez is also on Wenger’s radar as the Frenchman looks to bolster his squad.

However, the Gunners could struggle to match Ajax’s £25m-£30m valuation, leaving United in pole position to snare the striker.

What do you guys think? He would solve our left wing problems if we were to play him in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 Also he can play off Rooney in a 4-4-2.. Positionally he is very similar to Robinho.. Although he can also play from the right and can also play the free role as an attacking mid.. But I doubt he would ever make it into SAF's midfield 3..

Also the price being mentioned IMO is off the mark a bit.. I think a figure around 20 Million GBP or downwards to be way more realistic..

Hard to tell isnt it? For every kezman and alves theres an imbrahimovich or ruud boy, incidentally i think kuyt is a very decent player, even if not as prolific as he was in holland so hes not a flop as far as im concerned. What i will say is that suarez looks like he scores variety of goals from the tube clips, which bodes well i think. truth is though, that you never know if a player can take the step until he does or dosent as the case may be.

Just £30 million for the new Kuytzman? Bargain.

Kezman never showed that he was anything but a one-dimensional poacher. Suarez has shown a bit more and certainly has better technique in-and-around the box.

Obviously £30million is ridiculous (how much for Kris Boyd who has a similarly outstanding record in a similarly crap league?) and I'd be surprised if he'd be good enough for a Barca or an Inter.

Kezman was slamming them in from 20-25 yards on a regular basis. Dont think he managed a single one from range for Chelsea.
