Gala refused to go above £8m while bidding for him in the summer when he was very much available. Don't see why we would sell him now or why they would bid much more than that. Lazy rumour, someone just linked Valencia with them too in the past week.

Never get tired of watching our wing play vs Bayern at OT in 09-10 season. Nani and Valencia really fecking raped them in that first half. I thought at the time they were going to own European full-backs for years to come. Shame we can't get both of them play at their A game.

Don't think we'll see the Valencia of old again. He seems to have regressed somewhat.

We should give him the benefit of the doubt. One terrible season last time around but 2.5 good ones beforehand. One of which actually quite spectacular. He's been playing better so far this season but for some reason still can't shake off the criticism of those clearly and understandably appalled at his last year's exploits. Certainly had more good/good-ish games this season than he's had poor ones, although it's still early days.

Yet again, the inexplicable media obsession with nani being crap rears its head.

Now we've got him signed up, there's no way he's worth less than £20m, min. As if we were going to sell him at all.
Yeah it's fooking unbelievable. F365 quoted a article in today's rumor section (not sure from which paper it was) as "Mancini already did us a favour last season by handing us the league. Now he's going to do us another favour by bidding £12m for Nani"...

Words escape me, honestly. £12m. In today's market. For a player as talented as Nani. Who's just renewed his contract.

Not a fecking chance we would sell him less than a year after a 5 year contract. In typical Nani fashion he'll be tearing up trees at some stage this season and everyone will realise he's not actually shit after all.

We celebrated eid yesterday, so getting back to work today felt like a Monday. Best pleased when I realized it was Thursday ;)

Love that feeling.

If we were looking to buy him, the media would be pricing him at £30-£40m comfortably.

Except he wasn't. The club rejected several offers for him. And then offered him a new contract. Lazy post.

Nani he needs to kick on now. We need a consistent wide threat in this team. He needs to get back to his POTY form. It won't happen overnight, he has showed flashes so far.

Please don't contradict someone if you don't know the facts, it appears that you are doing it just for the sake of doing it. Makes you look lazy.

Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal claims the club have dropped interest in buying Nani.
"We offered 7 million euros (£6m) for him," he told Milliyet. "But they didn't accept. We can't give more than this. We are not going to follow Nani anymore. We can't give more than €7 million for him. They want €10 million and, because of this, he is not on our transfer list any more."

So the club was ready to sell Nani for 10m Euros and then two months after that they decided to give him a new 5yr contract?

That doesn't even make sense. The Gala chairman must've been lying. We never wanted to sell Nani ever since Moyes has come in.

It doesn't? Why would he lie? He has no reason to. Moyes obviously wanted Nani to stay, but if he had refused to sign a new contract than that was probably the price that we would have asked to sell. A combination of other clubs not matching our price tag and the risk of being frozen out in a world cup year may be one of the reasons he signed a new contract. Don't be actively obtuse thinking that this scenario may not have been possible.

I don't know why we are even arguing about this innocuous remark I made about them not willing to go over a certain price in the summer and now being ready to double their offer. That was the main point I was making, not that we were looking to sell Nani. We can argue over the semantics of all this all we like, but we have the words of another club's chairman saying that he had been available if someone stumped up 10 million or so.

Yup, I shudder to think what our wings would be like without him this season.

Struggling, that's for sure.

I was hoping United would end up selling him, and was hoping that we would have a dip if he was up for grabs. He would have been perfect for us I feel.

It always massively confuses me with Nani. Whenever I watch him play I always feel he is 1 of our best players, but a lot of people think he's rubbish and cannot wait to get rid of him.

As much as Valencia is a great player on his day Nani just has so much more in his locker.

Anyway thank god Moyes has seen the light.

Ah the hilarious Nani conundrum, where no one can seem to see the bleeding obvious! Hes either an absolute world beater, or shit. Couldn't possibly be what he actually is, ie a top EPL player!

The more he plays and the more I wonder why was SAF so stubborn in not playing much last season ? I mean he wasn't extraordinary but he's a breath of fresh on the right wing.

Needs to get into the match a bit more. But his delivery and creativity is unparalleled within our team. Easily could have set up two goals had our strikers not fluffed the chances.

Not in the game enough. He's put in some nice crosses and set up a couple for Rooney though. Need to get him more involved in the 2nd half.

We aren't dominating possession, so no wonder he isn't in the game enough, but he created much more than you'd expect from any player considering how little he saw the ball.

Glad to see him back in the team, has done well so far. Hope he takes on Shaw a bit more in the second half.

Prize for the first person to find an article on F365 / BBC etc that mentions that Nani was shit...

(text / twitter comments don't count - too easy. I'm pretty sure some people now run bots on their twitter feed to send out messages slagging Nani whenever United are playing)

One of the very few positives from today. Thought he was lively, great feet, put quality in the box and wasn't afraid to be physical against a side who do that element of the game very well. God knows why Moyes took him off - that was the most bizarre thing of all today. Most of everything good that we did came down the right hand side.

EDIT: the only reason I can think of is Moyes wants him to start three games in a week (Soton, Sociedad, Stoke). But even so, he could be rested when we have one of those games far more under control.

I suspect that's exactly the reason. Plus the fact we have a CL game midweek.

Last thing we need right now is Nani's hamstring going again.

Yeah, another good performance - he looks more intelligent. Am I right in saying he's still not picked up an assist yet this season? No surprise with our finishing to be fair to him.

No idea why he got subbed off. Was having a very good game. Unlucky to not have an assist for the cross to set up Rooney when he hit the bar. Hopefully he keeps his place on the right.

Horrible to see him subbed. Think we would have done a lot better whit him on the wing in the last minutes than Welbeck.

The space he got would have been gold for Nani, he failed big time.

He did a lot of good work from the right. Taking players on, crossing accurately, passing and moving into space. All the things we like to see in a winger. He really should have come away with at least one assist for his efforts. Even though we may have intended to save him for the games ahead, he should have been given the chance to kill this one off. Seeing him and Rooney come off with just a 1-0 lead was demoralising.

He's still one of our brightest players in recent games and deserves to stay in the team.

GOod game from Nanny. Nice to see our flair wingers given time on the pitch instead of tumescent Young / Valencia. Id have Nani, Januzaj, Giggs, Zaha on the wings any day over those two turds regardless how bad their form is. They are at least able to create something, and they also provide more support to our central areas, which makes the CM duo's work easier as well as involves Rooney more in the build up.

Thought we could have gotten him in the game more, a lot of our play was focussed on the left side, he and Rafael were often in a lot of space. Disappointed to see him subbed but think it was purely tactical than a performance issue thing.

We lost all our attacking balance when Nani went off. At times he beat Shaw with ease. He has skills and technique that nobody in our squad gets close to and he actually tackled back a lot today to help Rafael out. Head and shoulders above anyone else we have fighting for the wide right spot. His substitution marked the start of all that went wrong today.
