People shouldn't argue against Nani being crap when I say he is.

Crap is harsh though. He was decent, which is more than enough to justify retaining his place at the minute. 2 good efforts on goal and some decent dribbles and movement on top of the same stream of aimless crosses Valencia and Young have served up this season.

We always look so, so much more dangerous with him on the pitch. He's unpredictable, loves a shot, tries things and makes us a far more difficult proposition to play against. He should be starting every week.

Despite playing a good game against Sunderland he still gets a lot of stick. I think everyone should give him a break and reset their opinion on him. He played well and had a very good shot on target saved. He offered a lot of creativity especially when we were chasing the game.

Dont agree he was crap.

He was average, as was 3 of the 4 attacking players. He is quite clearly not 100% up to full speed yet so I'm sure he will improve as his match fitness/sharpness improves as he now gets the much needed run of games.

We've stuck with Valencia and Young for long enough through bad spells, so I reckon Nani should certainly get a long run of games now as first choice.

Rotate on the other side, between the other wingers, but keep Nani as a fixture.

His top level is a lot higher than the others.

Nani although average yesterday served up better than what Valencia and Young have recently. With AJ doing so well hopefully this leads to Zaha getting his chance also.

Not sure it is better than Valencia's (I remember Valencia destroying Cole) plus with Nani his top level is rarely seen or form held long enough, I do like Nani but he is inconsistent.

He was not "crap" at all. If he was, then what does that make Rooney yesterday? Or Rvp?

In fact, for most of the game, both Nani and Januzaj did well but the central players struggled so badly it made it hard for them to show anything for it. They were both coming deep and getting involved and trying to get Rooney and Rvp involved but both just seemed completely off color. Of course Januzaj went on to play even better and score two goals but still, Nani was decent I thought. Certainly not as bad as the two uptop who were actually "crap".

Yep agree but he wasn't anything more than average yesterday and created 0 in all honesty.

He really wasnt crap Cina. He and Januzaj looked the only ones that sth could come off from. Januzaj definitely had the better game of the two though, but Nani was decent enough. Kept things simple and wasnt helped much from our guys in the middle.

In the same vain as we would've seen had it been the other way round I'm going to say Valencia created more in 15 minutes than Nani did in the 75.

Anyone else notice Neville used the dreaded word "inconsistent" to describe Nani? Obviously he's completely clueless like the rest of the pundits.

Nani might be inconsistent but there was a spell at the beginning of the game where Adnan was non-existent and he was the only attacking player taking it to Sunderland. Furthermore his mere presence and ability to do the unpredictable adds to the chemistry of the team and gives us a better balance when attacking... the only issue was the stupid tactic of putting meaningless balls into the box to two strikers who whilst capable of scoring great headers are not what you call consistent headers of the ball i.e. they don't love throwing themselves about in the box. Through balls should be our prime method of attacking with the occasion cut back flighted cross, or at least from the side of the box. Early crosses from deep don't suit us at all.

Does he deserve any credit for the second goal? Picking the ball up halfway inside their half, breezing by two players, dummying to cross with his right, taking out another two players, before whipping it in with the outside of his foot? Seemed quite good to me.

Yeah, I thought his crossing didnt quite come off but he was beating players well which opened things up. Just saw te goal celebration again on goals on Sunday and its noticeable that a few of the players go to nani to praise him. Sometimes it's good just being willing to do something, even if it doesn't come off like the outside the foot cross it can make stuff happen. Better for me than constantly just checking and giving it to the fullback.

it didn't click for him yesterday but he was still effective occupying and beating defenders

the truth about yesterday is that RVP, Nani and Rooney were all off par yesterday

With Nani you know that he can be "crap" for 89 minutes and then win the match with a piece of brilliance in the 90th.

He is a threat which opposing teams have to take account of. His presence creates space for other players to play in.

Valencia was great until defenders learned how to force him onto his left foot. Defenders have learned not to try and close down Nani, but to contain him.

Januzaj is an unknown for now, but the rest of the league are watching now. In time defenders will get better at playing Januzaj, and some will be labeling him "crap" as well.

The truth is that these are great players with great attributes, but who must adapt as defenses learn how to take away what they do well.

He was terrible AGAIN. And we gave him a 5 year contract :wenger:, truly baffling.

I think Nani has been decent thus far, but nothing special. What surprises me is his seeming hesitation to take on a man. When he was playing at his very best, he was very direct and quite often used the old kick and run method to simply blast past opposition defenders. These days he seems somewhat reluctant to do that. Is it just me, or has he lost a step? He used to run a bit like Lucas Moura in that his feet hardly seemed to touch the ground. These days his stride looks heavier and not as nippy.

The clearest opening of the game. Did you watch the match?
VALENCIA : Shots: 0 Key passes: 1, Crosses:1 Dribbles: 1 Accurate through ball: 1 Accurate long balls: 0

Nani: Shots:3 Key Passes: 0 Crosses 6: Dribbles: 4 Accurate through ball: 0, Accurate long balls 2

According to those stats he created one chance and did nothing else. If you think that defends him from my charge of saying he was crap you have serious issues.

Jesus fecking Christ. Stats are not the be all and end all. Use your eyes. He did superbly to create the best chance of the match and was on the pitch for less than 20 minutes. What more could he have done in the time? Did you watch the match or just go on and check stats to decide who had a good game? Nani was on the pitch five times as long as Valencia.

Sometimes I think we've gone too far with the analysis of the wingers. Nani looked to link up, drifting nicely, sometimes he could have stayed wider more, but it also worked well with him and januzaj playing off each other. His crossing wasn't the best but it was also good to see that he was trying to pick someone out, something that I certainly think Valencia and Young haven't been doing enough off. Was it a great performance, no, not by any means, but it was one of the better performances for us without a doubt. Given he's not played much and most the players looked a little jaded I don't think there's much negative to take away from it.

Valencia came on and did as much as you could expect. Great run to set up RVP who should have scored. Add to that he obviously gave us some extra solidness. Hopefully being left out will inspire him to up his game. He's been more or less guaranteed a spot for a while now.

I used my eyes that iis why I said I wasn't impressed with him at all. Apart from the through ball for RVP he did nothing else and I have presented the stats to back that up that very argument.

He did superbly to create the best chance of the match and was on the pitch for less than 20 minutes. What more could he have done in the time?
Use the ball more in his 18 minutes on the pitch. I've seen him use the ball more with similar time on the pitch before.

Riiiight...so because I don't share you view point on Valencia's contribution I never watched the match?

feck you!
