He can be anything he wants to be. He's got all the ability in the world, needs to take more responsibility in our games like he did today as surely he knows he's got way more ability than any of our other wide players.

He should be pencilled in on the right side, with Valencia only as a substitute or Carling Cup choice (even there, I'd prefer Zaha get a run out.) Nani did more today than Valencia has done in any game in the last year and a half.

One of the only good things about yesterday. It's nice having a winger who is capable of swinging in an early cross.

I must have watched a different game! Whilst he wasn't our worst player I certainly didn't feel he was the shining light some of you lot seem to be thinking.

Much of the team looked incredibly pedestrian, and felt there was minimal inventive play. A lot of horizontal passing with januzaj offering more directness than Nani for sure

Yep, you watched a different game.

If Rafael wasn't available for games, my preferred right hand side would be Valencia at RB and Nani at Right Wing. Working with Smalling or Jones as RB doesn't really give him more options in attack, as they aren't that great with running on or drawing a defender out as Valencia is, as well as not having as good a cross as him. I wouldn't do this against the top teams as Valencia can't defend as well as them, but to try break through the lower team's defense would be much more effective than those two behind him.

In short, Rafael and Nani are the best combination we can provide, and we will look much better with them playing regularly together. May prove to be our main providing threat this season.

He looked very level-headed for me. Hopefully that will remain the same throughout the season. One thing that surprised me was that he didn't have a single brainfart moment when we were chasing the game. Most of the decisions he made were spot on.

Yes, finally we can see Nani in a run of games where he can build on his performances, rather than an outing every 5 matches with people then complaining about inconsistency.

7:14 - what a run. Still can't believe decided to return the pass to Nani, instead of shooting with so much space.

606 earlier seemed to be lumping him with Anderson and Buttner as to why we lost today, and asking why he was in the team.

Amazing.

I always find this baffling too (same on Talkshite) & some of the callers, supposed United fans, talking bollocks about him too.

One guy called up & didn't even know Adnan's name. I'd forgive him for ducking out pronouncing his name (I'd do the same) but he actually had no idea who he was & then he was calling Nani out that he wasn't good enough when he was the best United player on the pitch yesterday.

feck knows what what Robbie Savage has against him.

Rooney.....through on goal and tries this horrible 1-2... Also Nani should have had at least 2 assissts in the first half.

Any chance you can post videos that don't have the bottom of the screen cut off? When you're watching a right winger's performance the bottom of the screen becomes quite important...

There are none, mate. It's to avoid copyright.

Probably the best winger performance for us in a long time.

Going past players with ease, keeping possession, good crosses, and looking a constant threat.

Shame no one else was even close in terms of performance.

Should cement his place, hopefully with Rafael back too.

Nani was great yesterday, Rooney is looking good and RVP is always good, with Carrick and Cleverley in CM, our front 6 is looking good, just need to sort out the Kagawa in the front 6 and this team should play a lot better. Back 5 is a worry, but I hope DM realizes that Rio now needs to be moved into a Giggs type role and play Smalling and Vidic at centre back. And Rafael makes a difference so hope he gets a run in the team.

Just watched the game and it has further increased my annoyance that players like Valencia and Young could ever be seen as a better option. He has the ability to be amongst our very best players, the others barely have the ability to be at our club.

Thought he was great in the first half and was strong towards the end of the game, a bit more quieter at the start of the second but still one of our best attacking displays I can think off in a while from someone other than rvp/Rooney. For me he's always been part of the first 11, just ha so much more to his game. Hopefully he'll stay in the team.

I'm not a big Nani fan, but nobody can really deny that he performed very well on Saturday. Has to be given a run of games now, and I believe that he will.

Just saw that on the video. Crazy stuff. He had more than enough space to put away what would have been a pretty simple chance.

He's just so greedy. I say it every time .

'Greedy'

Now thats a proper English school boy statement to make. Watch Nani, closely again... Live at a match and you tell me whether you think he's trying to be 'greedy' and take people on for himself or whether he knows he's playing with players who cannot beat a man for shit and needs to open up space with some creativity.

Mind boggles

Yeah, that explains why he passed the ball to Fellaini when he had clear chance to score a goal.
Shame he was offside for that chance. Though it was odd the AR was about a meter and a half behind the play it was almost as though he just had to blow it because he couldn't have seen it properly. Which is a shame because it could very well have just been given 'level' on any other day.

Shame, but that wasn't my point. Greedy player wouldn't pass in that situation.

Then you should explain in which situation he was so greedy, you have video of his performance.

For most of the match it could be argued he wasnt greedy enough. He had lots of chances to shoot but opted to try and create something for others and was usually unlucky not to do so. Then in the 2nd half he had a couple of fluffed attempts. It doesn't change that for the majority of the game he was trying to tee up others when he could have gone by himself

His ability to beat players is amazing. He is a very unique player in that sense. There aren't many players out there that can do what Nani can do. Maybe Hazard and Suarez in terms of dribbling ability.

Can't believe people wanted him out. Yes he has his poor moments (usually shooting when he should pass) but what he brings to the table is so good he should be our main attacking outlet after Rooney and RVP.

Can you redo it without the border? I just got a minute in and barely saw anything of Nani because he's on the touchline, which you can't see.

Do you really think he deliberately chose to cut out some of the play, just for the craic? Without them it doesn't go up on youtube.

Did someone really say Fellaini could've been given onside on another day? Seriously?

ASAP? He was brought in the last second of transfer deadline day.

And the 'safety first' approach clearly worked brilliantly yesterday. Our defensive solidity was a joy to behold.

ASAP, yes. Don't you think it seems likely that One of Moyes prime objectives was to get in a defensively adept partner to Carrick? And even though it., for several reasons, took time, it was his first serious purchase.

My guess was that Moyes would 'play it safe' in the league past the city game, not necessarily that it would work. But I think it was a reasonable strategy, it wasn't madness.

I don't think this is far off. He has played it safe so far. It hasn't worked out splendidly, anyone could see that yesterday. But it hasn't worked out horribly either. As you say, nothing is lost. And now we have a string of matches coming up which should give him just what he needs: The opportunity to bed in those players so many have cried out for.

Yes. And it seems to have held water in two respects: as guessed, the wba game saw the entry of both nani and kagawa, in addition to game time for januzaj, anderson and evans. And while I would say it was badly executed, it still reinforced Myes decision of holding them back, in that the team showed clear weaknesses also with them in it.

Because of how shit our attack has been, Nani should be played into form. it may take a few weeks, but Nani trying to find form is simply better than Young, Valencia and Welbeck.
