Nani should get the chance to start our next 3-4 games on the right wing...it will really show up the constantly poor decision to be playing Valencia

Yeah and why does one of them have to be Nani? Everyone complains that we don't treat our youngsters fairly and give them a chance. Against Crystal Palace they were treated like first team players, and rightly so. Nani had played for Portugal a couple of days before the game in fecking USA. Januzaj and Zaha were fit and ready to go and were therefore given the nod over Nani. Is that not how it should be? I think it is.

Because, unlike Ashley Young or Valencia, Nani was suspended for the game against Leverkusen. So it would have been better squad management to give him a game against Crystal Palace, to get him in contention for starting at City. Our first choice wingers are more or less abysmal at the moment yet we keep persisting with them despite having other options. And nothing, absolutely nothing, explains why he wasn't given 30 minutes yesterday if it's about match fitness.

Because we plan to use him for the full 90 against Liverpool on Wednesday? Would he have lasted 90 if he played 30 yesterday? Perhaps they thought not.

It baffles me why he extended his contract, I would leave if I was Nani, unless Moyes has assured him of opportunities Fergie did not offer.
I think both him and Kagawa will be gone in a year anyway, they'll both do extremely well for the new teams too I think.

He's a professional footballer who's been in full training for weeks now. I don't think it's too much to ask of him to complete 30 minutes on Sunday and 90 minutes on Wednesday. If Moyes trusts Rio to play three games a week then he could have sent on Nani in a game that was already over as a contest... Welbeck, just back from an injury, played the full 90 minutes.

It seems like Nani has to prove superhuman levels of fitness before he's considered while the likes of Young or Welbeck merely have to show they can run a bit and boom, they're in the team.

Well he played 40 minutes on Friday and then 90 minutes on Tuesday for Portugal a couple of weeks back, and that included a flight to America in between, so unless his fitness levels have declined after an extra weeks training then yes, yes he would have have been able to last.

Massive game for Nani. Hoping we can make good comments about his performance at the end of the game.

Really want a good game from him and Kags on the wings. They need to give Moyes a choice of playing them instead of a Young and Valencia combo. Come on Nani!

Hopefully can see him swap sides with Kagawa if they start wider. Reckon Nani could cause Toure some problems running at him.

He's linked up brilliantly with Kagawa in the few minutes we've seen them together in the past; they seem to have a decent understanding.

The game against Galatasaray comes to mind. Nani, Kagawa, and Evra were so good at linking up.

Is this the first time we've seen him and Kagawa starting on opposite wings? I certainly cant remember many other occasions.

I really hope he does well tonight and kicks on from here. He's definitely my first choice winger in our squad and I'd quite like to see him play regularly over the other wingers (read Young).

Yeah, it's the first time in a while that watching United play hasn't made me lose the very will to live.

I put that on Kagawa/Nani.

God, watching Nani play makes me hate Young and Valenica even more.

I think we'll see a more refined version of Nani this season. Usually, he makes stupid passes outside the box, but I enjoy watching him keep it safe. Movement and touch have been good. Should start next game.

He's been one of our best players on the pitch, but he can be even better. I don't think he's taking on his man enough tonight.

Has his passing boots on tonight, very composed and impressive with that side of his game. Not defence splitting but finding a teammate in a good area around the box with quick passes. Hopefully he can put in a few more good crosses in the 2nd half

Absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Wonder when this thread will descend into 'Arrrrgh Nani you inconsistent, frustrating fecker you,' again, hopefully never.

Doing well. I think if he can be a little more direct and decisive when he gets the ball, he will really hurt them. Glad to see a positive performance from him though.

I can't wait for him to start taking on defenders again and taking long range shots. We don't score enough from outside the box or from a distance.

When we are losing and he does his trick of being oblivious to where the opposition are and passes straight at a defender.

He's looking very good tonight (at least when he was playing from the right), long may it continue.

It's not even close to his best, but he is probably our best attacking player tonight, and this is better than anything Young and Valencia did this season(well, except for VAlencia vs LEverkusen).

Not even close to his best and still better than any other winger we have at the club. Needs to start against wba.

It was a decent performance, he didn't really do much wrong but he didn't try and do anything overly exciting either, basically looked like a player who wanted to put in a solid performance to get back into the team.

Should start the next game. His rusty performance gave me more hope from the wings than I've had recently. People can criticise him all they want but he never hides. He'll always try something and he'll always get involved. Some of those shots and crosses didn't hit the mark but his general play and passing opens up teams. It would be stupid if we don't give him the chance to build up some momentum. Tonight proved we could do worse than him.

He is so much better than Young and Valencia

Should start saturday and every game from now on

It'll be insane if he doesn't start ahead of Young at the weekend. Even tonight, with barely any game time under his belt, he showed how much better he is than him.

Are you kidding me? If we use Young as a yardstick, half of our academy players are good enough to start. Nani was old Nani, flashes of brilliance coupled with frustrating things which make me squeeze my balls. I will give it to you that he hasn't had lot of game time but he still needs to improve on those aspects which were frustrating as a fan to watch given the talent he has.

Decent stuff which is more than enough to push one of Valencia or Young out of the team. Just showed how crazy it was for him not to get more game time this season over those two.
