Time to put Nani back into the starting XI for virtually every game.

Its unbelievable how he hasn't had a sniff of the first team. I just refuse to believe he could do ANY worse than Young or Valencia.

This is where Moyes has been completely wrong. His refusal to select Kagawa and Nani because Young/Valencia do a better defensive job is worrying. Having said that, its nothing Fergie hasn't done in the past either though.

He really should just leave. We're wasting what could be one of the best wingers in the world.

He has ability on the ball, can beat a man, cross the ball, score goals, come up with little bits of genius. Therefore, he has absolutely no chance of getting in the team.

We prefer players that 'work hard' and 'play for the team'.

Unless he's injured, there is no reason at all to keep him on the bench this long. Should've started, at worst he should've come on at HT. Baffling he's not come on.

It BAFFLES me why he doesn't just get put on. He cannot be any worse than the shite we put on the wings now, right? Defensive contribution from the wings? feck that, we lost 4 goals, 3 of which from the fecking wings.

Moyes so unadventurous, why the feck not try something else and see how that pans out? It's not like it could have gotten more embarrassing and worse than being 4-0 down just after HT.

I don't see why he shouldn't start the next 2 games. The wings are crying out for someone who does what he can do. We need to freshen up our team now and he's got to be one of those given their chance.

He should start every game ffs! We've had well over a year now to see how desperately our wings need someone of his ability, and given we actually have him signed, playing for United, we should be fecking using that!

I don't understand how we go with Young and Valencia each time who offer about half the threat of Nani combined.

Maybe Moyes wants to do everything exactly like Fergie did cause he assumes that'll bring trophies, hence he's not going to play Nani, ever.

That sounds pretty reasonable, it's also why he made him sign a new contract, because he knew that despite Fergie not wanting to play Nani ever again, he was still - and this vital - a Manchester United player.

Well Young and Valencia have had a run of games to show they've put their form from last season behind them and bar the odd flash there's been little change. Now Moyes should give Nani and hopefully Kagawa a run and then assess from there, personally I'd be suprised if we didn't look better with at least one of them playing.

I really don't know why he's been so reluctant to give them a run out as well more often, if he wants to see them he's got to play them.

We need to sing for him to be brought on the field!
Guesswork: Moyes thought 'finding our feet' whilst losing half of our opening battles will prove impossible. Best build from safety to get through rough patch in one piece. Otherwize media and hysteric fans will give no room for error. Best start of unadventurous and mediocre and develop gradually.
Guesswork 2: 'safely' means same back four as far as possible. Cost: no rest for rio, evans to wait. It means: going for valencia and young who are normally disciplined, experienced, knows how to perform a cautious 4-4-1-1. Cost: loss of creativity going forward. Burden on rvp/roo. Unexiting team sheets. It means: give carrick help defending. Playing clev before ando, getting fellaini in asap with focus on formations. Cost: little dynamic, attackers left alone. It means: rvp and rooney as much as possible to get them going and shore up points in even games. Cost: rvp fatigued, welbeck treated unfairly, chicha and shinji left cold, showing 'weakness' in face of rooney stand off (or rather strength?).

Guesswork, yes. If correct, I'd assess it as so far so good. 3-1-2 from these games is no car crash. First hurdle passed, little won, but not everything lost, which could have been the situation with some exiting football to begin with and 1-1-4.

If correct, I'd expect: game time to come now for nani, chicharito and kagawa. Rio rested some, but not too much. Januzaj and later zaha with cameos, but not at the expence of getting nani and kafawa going. Rvp rested some. Fellaini given time, and gradually more like 4-2-3-1 than 4-4-1-1. We'll see. But probably only slowly.

ASAP? He was brought in the last second of transfer deadline day.

And the 'safety first' approach clearly worked brilliantly yesterday. Our defensive solidity was a joy to behold.

This is funny but a part of me fears it may also end up being true.

He's barely had games and therefore didn't start yesterday. I don't get what is so difficult about that. Let's see if Moyes gives him more game time now over the next 6 games. I guarantee he will, lets just hope the good version of Nani turns up.

He'll pick him against Liverpool play average and then drop him for 4 games again.

He wasn't even on the bench against Crystal Palace after playing for his national team. He wasn't brought on to gain some match sharpness yesterday when the game was already over anyway.

Ashley Young, on the other hand, got straight back into the side after an injury at the start of the season. Welbeck as well.

I don't think this is far off. He has played it safe so far. It hasn't worked out splendidly, anyone could see that yesterday. But it hasn't worked out horribly either. As you say, nothing is lost. And now we have a string of matches coming up which should give him just what he needs: The opportunity to bed in those players so many have cried out for.

It baffles me why he extended his contract, I would leave if I was Nani, unless Moyes has assured him of opportunities Fergie did not offer.

Where abouts was this game that Nani played in for Portugal? Besides, Januzaj got a chance in that game, something nobody complained about at the time.

feck, people want to complain that youngsters aren't given a fair chance, but when the manager does exactly that, he's still fecking criticised. Our supporters seem to thrive on having things to moan about.

He didn't exactly have the whole of Europe lining up to sign him. There was Galatasaray, and maybe Monaco in for him, so no surprise he ended up staying. Juventus were in too, but he'd have equally marginalised there in their 3-5-2.

We can have more than one people on the bench.

Also, Nani played half an hour against Liverpool and it seems like he was forgotten after that.

I doubt he instructed the players not to turn up. You have to distinguish between a plan and its execution. In theory Valencia and Young are our safest bets if you want to line up like we did and focus mainly on remaining tight at the back. Whether we should line up like that is a different question. But his selection isn't extremely bizarre, not is it a far cry from what Fergie might've been inclined to go for. In short, he tried to play it safe and it didn't work. Partly, I would say, because it just wasn't the best approach to begin with - and mostly because we simply didn't turn up at all. We looked like a bloody corpse from the whistle with the exception of a couple of players.

Yeah and why does one of them have to be Nani? Everyone complains that we don't treat our youngsters fairly and give them a chance. Against Crystal Palace they were treated like first team players, and rightly so. Nani had played for Portugal a couple of days before the game in fecking USA. Januzaj and Zaha were fit and ready to go and were therefore given the nod over Nani. Is that not how it should be? I think it is.

I think he's assured him of opportunities. I guess he just didn't judge him to be match fit yet, and given he sees him in training every day which we don't, we just have to trust his judgment. It wouldn't have been doing Nani any favours to have him start the game if he wasn't 100% fit. I think he'll start midweek against Liverpool though. I'm really hoping for an exciting lineup and a good performance after yesterday.
