Any reason why he's been completely left out of the squad for tonight's game against NI? Not even on the bench.

Malouda was a very good player in the 09/10 season though. There's no mistake about that.

Yeah him and Nani were the best wingers back then, nothing really to separate them. Malouda disappeared from the face of the earth after that season, that was a total one season wonder.

Commentator just said he's on the bench. Probably not starting due to lack of match fitness.

Ah good. Thanks. Guess BBC got it wrong.

LINE-UPS- Northern Ireland v Portugal (1945 BST)
Portugal: Rui Patricio, Joao Pereira, Bruno Alves, Pepe, Fabio Coentrao, Veloso, Meireles, Joao Moutinho, Vieirinha, Postiga, Ronaldo. Subs: Eduardo, Lopes, Andre Martins, Lica, Ricardo Costa, Luis Neto, Antunes.

What's funny, I'm not laughing. It's a disgrace that a 5 year contract is given to a player that as had no more than a dozen decent games for us in the past two/three years. Is this a ban? Last time I said something to upset a mod I got a temp ban and a flashy tagline...very RAWKish

Just subbed on in the N. Ireland v Portugal game. Currently 2-1 to N. Ireland

And now it's 4-2 to Portugal, I'm not watching the game so I'm just going to assume Nani's excellence has been behind the change in fortunes.

Great stuff Nani.

Their national manager said a few weeks ago that he hoped Nani would get back on track and improve his performances for the national team.
Which I found odd as he always seems to play quite well for Portugal. even when he didn't perform at United, he'd have an impact when he was away with Portugal.

It's all just about getting a consistent run and getting that confidence back. In the half hour we saw of him in preseason he looked like he was really focused and given he did well in the behibd closed doors game as well, the signs are good. Even if he doesn't start straight away I'm sure he'll be back in the team soon.

He was your top goalscorer in the league the season after that.

With 13 goals. I think that says more about our team that season than him. He had 10 less assists and less goals, so yeah, one season wonder.

Yeah they had a snippet of Moyes talking to Nani in Portuguese, and then Nani reciprocated the gesture by praising Moyes in Scottish.

I am very dissapointed, you are answering to mungy's posts, and you have nothing to say on my picture of your Ed Woodward story.
I am thinking about not writing anymore things like "nice" after you score nice haxball goal.

God knows why Portugal don't start Nani all the time. He should definitely be a fixture in their first eleven.
Isn't he always a permanent fixture in their team? If I recall, he's always been a key player for them and plays whenever he's fit. There were plenty of Portuguese fans before who would say for their national team, nani would outshine everyone, even Ronaldo (probably not still the case, but I definitely remember loads saying this).

Yes! I meant Fergei chained to it on the side, as in always having to operate it, but a chained fergie projecting a woodward signal is even better.

Sorry Amar, I didn't see the pic post or the last page, I responded to Mungy's posts via phone and it was already on this one!

Shit, I thought you were saying Fergie on the top of it, nevermind. It could have been better though, but I couldn't find better background/gates, and it was quickie after all.

Give the man a run of games. Nani, Rooney, Kagawa, and van Persie can be a devastating attack force.

Decent performance, but that dribbling at the end was

When he came on Portugal were a man down, a goal down and frankly couldn't seem to string more than two passes together. He was on the pitch for about 35mins and just made things happen. The NI defence started to sit back a little and that gave the Portuguese midfield a chance to settle and create. He can do that for us, hopefully the fact that he has signed a big contact means that Moyes sees him as in his first eleven.

Yeah, I am not taking anything from him, it's just he wasn't directly involved in any goal, but still he had one good shoot, few good crosses(their strikers just kept falling down on every contact in the box, so no wonder no one picked those crosses), and all that with them doubling him most of the time. Their next game should be interesting, they are playing against Brazil.

He was far more dangerous on the left there. I still think his best position is on the left in a 4-3-3, but when it's 4-4-2 he's probably better on the right.

The Nani haters make me laugh, we see him trying all sorts of stuff, quite a lot of which might not come off as planned, but al least he's trying to make things happen. We see him taking on defenders and driving forward whenever possible and some decent shots on goal, some decent crossing.

Compare that to what we get with Young/Valencia, & people are still hating on him?

So my question goes back to something I was suggesting years ago. Some of our players seem to be put in the team week after week even if they are playing poorly, presumably because we want to give them lots of games and play them into form.

Isnt Nani one of the best candidates at the club for that? Surely behind only Rooney and RVP out of our attacking players as players who should be playing even if they arent at their best, because of how good they will be at their best. So its worth a couple of months of flat performances to make it happen?

Valencia, even Ashley Young seems to be afforded this luxury. But never Nani. He only gets a run of games when he's already in good form

Hopefully that was because of contract situation.
