He's nowhere near the worst for screaming at players who don't play the right pass (the right pass usually being the pass to the complaining player). Berbatov was terrible for it, and Rooney is often swinging his arms around if he doesn't get the ball when he wants it. I've not seen Nani do it anywhere near as much.

Genuinely that shocks me... When you cite his 'attitutude on the pitch' what do you mean?

And I haven't seen him shout at younger players, but what do you want him to do? Shake their hand... people have emotions, I'd say that makes him a perfectionist, not petulant.

There is a way of doing things on a pitch. He was never a player to praise others but would openly show his dismay. I went to Crewe and watched him there and he seemed a different player. He was the one trying to push the younger players forward and was boosting them all game. He would get stuck in as well trying to win the ball back and doing this higher up te field.

I did sense a change in attitude that night.

Giggs is also complaining alot to other players.

I don't think I've ever seen an interview of his where he didn't across as a nice, humble bloke.

Judging him on scowling on the pitch seems daft. It's no reflection of him as a person, from what I've seen.

Yup, same here. He has always comes across as a nice and humble guy, still don't understand why he has a statue of himself at his home

I don't know, I tried googling for any news reporting to that effect but found nothing.

Can only be a positive then... :)

After van Persie and Kagawa, I want Nani as the third* name down on the teamsheet next season. The lad is as talented as they come and far and away our most creative outlet. I think he'd thrive in an attacking triumvirate beside Kagawa and one of Zaha/Young/Valencia. I think we'll see a huge contribution from Nani this season.

*Speaking in an attacking sense, of course.

Its always a worry when new contracts take time - but I think we all expected him to be gone already. I for 1 and glad he is still here, and really hope he will be involved in the first team. Hopefully in the next game he gets a start so he can show Moyes what he is all about.

A new manager so often sees an improvement in players if they were struggling in the last season under the old boss. I have a hunch (a hopeful one) that might be what happens with Nani.

It's been a tough old battle for him at times at this club, falling in and out of form frustratingly, and occasionally inexplicably falling out of favour when his form was fine. It will be refreshing to have the clean slate of a new manager.

I still think he's staying now.

I think he said the statue was a myth before, didn't he? It was just a mannequin or something that he put his winner medals on.

You've disappointed me. I expected you to disprove that myth with quotes and references, you're losing your touch.

I was sort of expecting Damien to swoop in and do it for me. He's bad for the laziness levels on the Caf.

It was on a BBC video interview though, iirc.

EDIT: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16666641

Oi, I've only just come on. But you are right. No statue, just a mannequin. I saw it on an MUTV show where they did a tour around his house.

Arrigo Sacchi believed that every player has a cycle. When such cycle is over, then no matter how good that player is, then he should be allowed to go. The reason for that may be many. The player may need new challenges or is unhappy etc. I think Nani's cycle at the club is over. Same thing about Ando and Rooney.

It's a good theory - the difficulty lies in determining when the cycle is over.

When does that cycle end? Does it end when a player has a poor season due to many factors? Or does it end when a player declines naturally? Or does it end when you're in a situation like Rooney's? I don't think his cycle is over at all, you had more of a case to make this statement in the first half of 09/10, where Nani was IMO at his worst.

That's a nice theory. Don't think it has much basis in reality though. In real life, common sense suggests you consider each case in its own right.

He'll stay. Will be rejuvenated with a fresh start under a fresh manager.

Predicting a top season for our MJ-clone this time around.

fecking LOVE Nani. Those videos just emphasise that love. We need him to stay.

Massively Overrated on the Caf, as evidenced by the lack of interest in him from other clubs despite a possible cut-price.

That said, he is much more talented than Young and Valencia, and I really hope he stays and has a consistent season.

He's entertaining and has technique, our other wingers rely on pace and, err, pot-luck crosses?

The "lack of interest", if there is any, just shows that he's had a poor season, mainly due to beeing out of the team half of the time because of injuries.

Frustrating player, but he is a game changer. Only him Rooney and van Persie could single handedly turn the odds in our favour when push comes to shove. Watching that video just reminded me of so many moments where I was just in awe at what he did, some outrageous goals and technique he has used. Him and Ronaldo on the left and right wing in full momentum would just be simply

I always thought Nani's biggest problem has been his inability to understand or embrace our rotation policy. When he's been given a run of games, he's exceptional and shows why many of us rate him so highly. When he's in and out of the team, we see the frustrating side of Nani. It becomes more about Nani the individual trying to win back his place rather than the team, which leads to mistakes and poor decision making on his part.

To be fair, a lot of players can't maintain top form if they get rotated all the time. In fact I'd say most players struggle with that. The problem is that under Fergie we rotated more than almost any other team I can think of, and not just the personnel but the positions they played. Arguably amongst our top players Nani suffered from that the most.

Having Nani back - fit, motivated, and with a new manager is basically tantamount to a high quality signing.

A nice theory to consider if SFA was still the manager but now we have a new manager... so Nani, Rooney and Ando have a new boss. They will need to reinvent themselves and prove their worth just as if they had joined a new club. Same for the rest of the team members.

Having said that, I can't see us suggesting to sell our best players especially in a market where we are struggling to bring in new world class talent. Nani was injured and Rooney was used in midfield due to his ability and to make up for United's lack of quality world class midfielders.

Perhaps the best thing for United was Fergie moving up.

You should apply for job within the club's PR department.

He's right though - we really missed him last season. I know we won the league, but our wingers each had a really poor season, and when they're on form, Nani is the best of the lot.

He has some ridiculous stat of either a goal or assist ratio of one per appearance for United I'm sure. Incredible player when he's at his best. I would love to see Moyes get him firing again, and I hope he stays.

In other words it will be like getting back a player we already own.
