I've never thought I'd come to this point as he does frustrate me to the heavens but we need him back asap. He could play with a strained hammy and still be better than val and young.

Interesting bit in the Guardian article:

There has been no offer yet of a new deal for Ryan Giggs and there is a break clause in the five-year contract Nani signed last September.

Its fantasy to think he'll ever pass the ball to one of our players ever again. feckin useless!

He's been the 12th man for the opposition for so many feckin years. He has more assists for the oppoistion than he has for us over the past 4 seasons.

Nani = 1 good game, then 5 atrocious games thereafter... No heart nor soul, no pride for the shirt. I doubt whether the fecker is even injured to be honest. Feckin Marmite prick!!

What an unbelievably shite post.

Rule of thumb: Nani gets better and better by CaF posters the longer he doesn't step onto the football pitch, invariably when he does, the majority soon recall just how frustrating and inconsistent he is, resulting in moments such as him being booed off at OT against Stoke.
At this point, I, personally, don't want to see him involved anylonger, hes far too hot and cold, and his moments of producing excellence are far outweighed by his poor outings, even if he is more talented than the likes of Valencia and Young in the short term, he's still not someone I'd like to include in progressive future planning of the squad.

Still provides a lot more cutting edge than either Tony or Ashley, and younger than both.

IF he can get fit he provides us with a nice way of rotating Januzaj.

Tony and Ashley should get gone... unless maybe Tony could play in CM. Actually amazed we have not tried this.

Yeah, that's a real mystery.

Apparently plays there for his country, neat and tidy short passer, strong in the tackle and - unlike almost every other CM in our squad - can run with the ball.

For all his fatness/shitness, Anderson gives us something different in midfield because he runs with the ball. He's arguably been involved in all our most fluid and exciting attacking football over the last 2 or 3 years. Seeing as he has the stamina of a may-fly and no idea how to get a consistent weigh on his passes it really is strange that Valencia has never once been given a crack at his position.

Few little things I noticed...

On his future....

Marca says Nani's representatives have sent out feelers to Spanish Liga clubs ahead of the January market.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are unlikely to move for the Portugal international, however, Valencia, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid could be keen.
Nani signed new terms with United earlier this season, but has seen Adnan Januzaj move ahead of him in manager David Moyes' plans.

On his availability/injury....

Also, for those asking when Nani is back, there isn't an official confirmed date, I would assume it would have something to do with the above, should there be any truth in it. However, if we try and look it logically, we know Nani is out with a Hamstring injury that he sustained around 7th December 2013. Obviously a lot will depend on exactly what damage is done/when they want to re-introduce him and are confident of it not just flaring up again, the average hamstring takes someone 6-10 weeks to recover from, Nani has now been injured for 12 weeks on Saturday, make of that what you will.

Tony V would be a beast in cm, him, the Jones and kag in a mid 3 with rooney mata am and RVP up front. More chance of Moye psicking Osman though.

So do we think he's gone in the summer?

He's been out for three months (?) now. Moyes said that he'd be back around this time I think.

Manchester United could be handed a much-needed boost by the return of winger Nani against West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Portugal international has been out with a hamstring injury since playing against Newcastle in a 1-0 victory back on 7th December.

He suffered a slight setback in his rehabilitation a fortnight ago, which forced him to curtail his progress.

Nani, however, has received the given the green light to resume first-team training and he will now be closely monitored throughout the remainder of the week.

United will be looking to bounce back from the humiliating 2-0 Champions League reverse to Olympiacos, last time out, when they travel to take on West Brom at The Hawthorns.

And Nani's inclusion would certainly give under-pressure boss David Moyes some more attacking options as the champions desperately try to stay within touch of a top-four finish.

No quotes but it would be decent to have him back.

I'd prefer it if we replaced him in the summer but there's no way having another alternative to Valencia and Young for the rest of the season is a bad thing.

haha this, but it's the same with every player really. Or, basically, whoever Moyes selects, it's the wrong decision. If Moyes was picking Nani people would say we should be putting Valencia in, he was one of the best wingers in the league two seasons ago and if he gets a consistent run of games he will be great again, but Moyes is too 'cowardly' to give Valencia the run of games.

Suddenly Kagawa is a world beater again since we've signed Mata, even though he was next to anonymous when he was getting games before christmas.

Nani has absolutely been infuriating for years, but as SAF seemed to always say, nostalgia plays tricks in football

Anything that gives the slight hope of no more Valencia is a bonus to me.

If Nani returns to form next year, it will be (you guessed it) like a brand new signing.
If Nani returns to his best form it's like winning the lottery, not going to happen sadly. Sell now and improve in the summer.

I don't know about you guys, but the only time I've really been annoyed of watching Nani play was during the second half of the 2008/09 season and the first half of the 2009/10 season, when he was almost as useless as Young was down that left wing as a traditional left winger. At all other times, however, I haven't been annoyed by his performances, otherwise (even with his supposed decision-making issues during the 2010/11 season; plus, pleased and not annoyed are two different things).

Honestly, every time I see Nani play, I feel more assured whenever we are on the attack as, to me, he always makes good use of the ball. He is unlike Young, Valencia, and even Evra in that he doesn't just do one thing over and over again just because he's instructed to do so. Nani's movement has also been really good and provides us with many different options, movement that is nonexistent in Valencia and Young, at the moment.

His injury-proneness is a definite cause of concern, though. If he can't string a run of games, then he'll never get into good form. Playing here and there isn't good for him and for us. He needs a consistent run of games to come out good. If he doesn't get those consistent run of games, he's not that useful for us.

If Januzaj is going to get protected for what appears to be no apparent reason any more, I'd rather we were using Nani over them other two wastes of space.

But why bother speculating what might happen. Unfortunately he is THE boom-bust player in this squad. We know exactly what will happen.

I Really do wonder about Nani. How bad must he have done his hamstring to be out this long?.

People heal broken bones quicker than Nani heals hamstrings

Leaving injuries aside, I think Nani still has a role in this side. The problem is that, on the evidence of what we've seen this season, he just does not look like the kind of player Moyes wants to play. Since he's under contract and has, on balance, been more good than bad, we should get some decent money in for him. So I think he'll go.

I've been saying for a while he has been out much longer than his injury suggested, so was already due back, good news if true, gives us a lot more options up top...

Valencia Januzaj Mata
RVP

or
Nani Kagawa Young
Rooney

Nani is still being discussed?

......

Yeah what's the point in discussing a Manchester United player. Players never come back from medium to long term injuries. We haven't seen him now for, what, almost 3 months? That's practically an eternity. I'm surprised anyone even remembers he exists. I can't really remember anything from 3 months ago. I think it was sort of cold? And maybe there was some football played, or something? Sorry, what we were talking about again? Oh yes, Moyes. Bloody Moyes.

Hey did anyone read that article linking us to Arteta? I think we need a new winger myself. It feels like we're one winger short. Didn't we used to have more wingers? Wasn't there some flashy Portugese guy used to play here? Anyone remember his name? Might have been a while ago now.

Thank you for that.

Nani is the answer to our dilemma. He will reignite our season and return us to the mantle that we so rightly deserve.

Damn Davis Moyes for tolerating the whole one good game, nine bad game syndrome. Oh, of course...Nani has been injured! That's why he ain't playing toyally amazing. How foolish of me.

I couldn't be bothered quoting the list of his seemingly close to impeccable United record. I fought Nani's side for years (on this forum, in the pubs and at Old Trafford). Obviously he has some god given talent. Unfortunately, he is unable to display it for longer than a game or two. Why is it that because he is apparently back from the longest injury layoff in history, all of a sudden he is like a new signing? He was shocking before injury and I expect the same now. I wish he could play like I had argued he can on a regular basis but, if this is something that people will now argue - we are grasping at straws.
