Luis Nani | 2013/14 Performances

Disappointing season for him. Expected more than what he's shown, but I don't expect he'll be out in the summer.

i want him to stay and see him perform at the highest level for us, but he is too inconsistent.

i would rather keep nani and offload young and valencia for a start, but the best situation for us here is perhaps by including him in a transfer for another top player. if juve is interested in nani then i would not mind seeing us paying juve 15-20 million and give them nani as well.

Any more news on whether he's actually on his way back form injury? The lad badly needs a run to the end of the season without injury. Another one this term and his situation starts to move into Hargreaves territory.

Btw, was heartened to read this article sandwiched in between the usual relentless "Club X poised to buy Nani"...

Manchester United Rejected Request To Include Nani In Chelsea's Mata Deal

"Moyes turned down Mourinho's offer immediately, as the Premier League champions had no intention of weakening their squad.
After being told Nani was not available under any circumstances, Mourinho opted to signed Salah"

Seems a lot more feasible than the standard narrative, which is actually now moving onto headlines like "David Moyes struggling to offload Nani"... er, maybe he shouldn't have given him a new contract?

He's the new Anderson literally. Comes back for a few games and then gets injured.

I'm a bit tired of waiting for him to become the player he should be if I'm honest. Wouldn't have too many complaints if he was moved on this Summer along with a few others.

In the summer, I would be inclined to keep Nani, and move Young and maybe Valencia on. He is the youngest of the three and has the highest upside when on his game. Big challenge to him from Januzaj, and maybe from Zaha and Lingard as well. Needs to get back sharp though... could still make a difference this season if he does. Has the world cup as a significant motivating factor for him.

He's not going to be of any use if he keeps on getting injured. I would love for him to get fit and start playing well again, losing my patience a bit though. Too many niggling injuries in the past year and a half.

This is the sort of post that leads to the need for the forum etiquette reminder. It's no surprise there is abuse in the forum if our own "supporters" are more twattish about our players than half the oppositoin fans.

Because I think he's an utter fecking fanny means I'm breaking the 'forum ettiquette' rules?

Right, ok.......

Moyes needs to play him when he is back - especially if we do start playing a more fluid game where our wide players start coming in more and playing quick shorter passes. He will be a real shooting threat that teams will have to account for - the thought of Rooney, Nani, RVP and Mata all in front of goal ... drool !

No, read my post again. It means you're enciting other people to, by acting liek some kind of scouser on a wind-up.

I'm more than happy to debate whether Nani is good enough to staty. But taking the piss out of him because of his reaction to having his shin split open by a disgusting challenge from the shitouse Carragher is just pathetic. I'd like to see if you cried if the little scouse cnut did the same to you.

Talking Vulture is right about that incident though. He had a bit of a cut on his leg and was properly crying, at Anfield of all places as well.

That's embarrassing.

Ronaldo spent half his time here looking like he was on the verge of tears... maybe we should have got shot of him sooner too, and got a proper man laike Andy Carroll or Emil Heskey in? I'm loving your vision of how a United teams should be, if ony you were manager.

It was hardly just 'a cut'

Cuts don't keep you sidelined for month.

I've had worse done to me and I haven't cried. Maybe if I was a child I would. It was a bad tackle, yes. But to cry on the pitch at Anfield of all places, jesus h....
And wasn't he back playing within a couple of weeks?

Was more directed at Talking Vulture, who made the first post. I get the impression he'd be happy to see the back of Nani...

Yes I would. I don't get it with him. He can be fantastic one week, utter bilge the following 2 or 3 weeks. Don't get me wrong, when he's good he's very good but we hardly ever see that. And the fact that he's as brainless as they come when it comes to making vital decisions on the pitch, I think we would be wise to cash in

This is the crux of it for me. Most of the very best wingers are constantly on the edge of this assessment - the same mindset that enables them to do things that the Valencias and Youngs never will keeps them permanently one wrong move away from vitriolic ridicule. Ronaldo was in the same boat early in his career (yes, I know he found a level of consistency over many years that Nani can only dream of - Nani is never oign to be Ronaldi, but who is), as have been plenty of others who before reaching a level that proved all doubters wrong were regularly called inconsistent, flimsy, brainless etc.

Obviously the key is, does he have it in his locker to go from frstrating show-pony to a player who regularly produces the goods. And as I've said before, we know that he does, as he showed it for a good souple of years form the age of about 23 onwards, before his injuries kicked in. If he can put those injuries behind him, I see no reason we can't see that player again.

"A bit of a cut"

Disgusting that Carragher didn't see red for that.

A here. That was a fecking gaping wound man. Sometimes the old waterworks start and it doesn't make you less of a man.
