Are you fecking serious?! Ashley is on £120,000 p/w. What the hell has happened to the world!

Edit: Young, didn't mean to come across all pally with him. Just forgot to enter surname.

Young can't be on that much. Where did you get tgat from?

He was good today IMO. It was his best game after the injury, that's for sure. He kept possesion very well, and assisted for the first goal. His combinations with welbeck at the begining were joy to watch, to bad we turned into defending mode after that. It would be nice if someone can find his passing statistic from today.

He was decent I thought. Some good crosses and kept it simple. Still miss the way he beat players with ease before his injury but that's a confidence thing and will come the more games he plays.

Agreed. He seems to be growing in maturity as a player which is a massive positive. Kept it simple rather than running down blind alleys, and still managed to cunjure up some moments of genuine quality.

Marked improvement from the Ajax games, the first 20 minutes certainly seemed like he was finding this rhythm again after the injury. Hopefully the Spurs game will see him reach his peak.

He does extremely well especially given that every flipping game he gets double and triple teamed up.

Nani doesn't get enough love on here IMO, if Cleverley had played that reverse pass for Berba that Nani played against Ajax there would have been a massive circle jerk on here.

He was excellent today. His passing has come on leaps and bounds. Brilliant player.

He's done well this year. A bit hot and cold here and there but overall quite effective. Tony V's scintillating form has probably fanned the perception that Nani is having an off year, when in reality he's been excellent.

I had to quote myself. Found it: 53/60 (88%). 1% better than Carrick, that says a lot.

I get confused seeing your name in the last post thingy. I always think it's me even though I don't use my real name here.

Very good, I loved the way he took it on himself to drive us on after we conceded. He took the ball and ran at them which was very good, although his corner in the build to the goal was one of the worst I have ever seen.

Good to have him back, and getting sharp again as he will be very important to us in the run in.

Are you referring to me?

And a lot of those were penetrate passes.

You are right there. He attempted 35 passes in the attacking third and completed 29. This was more than Giggs and Welbeck. Really is very influential in attack and gives us some creation and imagination that we sometimes lack.

There were some lovely penetrative passes from him today in addition to great crosses. I feel he is evolving into a more intelligent and more creative player. Nani of old wouldnt get into so many lovely short passing exchanges the way he did today with welbeck. It's a bow which he's adding which combined with his other abilities is a lethal combination.

Apart from his cross for Scholes' goal, I thought he was ordinary. Struggled to beat his man and his crossing was shite. Decision making is still his big weakness.

So what were the occasions yesterday when his decision making let him down?

Almost every time he found himself in an attacking position.

That's a lot of times. Care to cite 5 to 7 such incidents where his decision making let him down? Given it was 'every time he found himself in an attacking position', that should be easy for you to do.

feck me, people are question Nani's "decision making" now he's hit a bit of a cool spot in his form for the first time in over 2 years?

I would say 26 goals and 30 assists in 90 games for club and country while being a genuine winger would suggest his decision making is fine.

Some people really are unbelievable on here, looking to criticise anyone who drops below a 7/10 performance for 2 games in row regardless of previous form.

feck me, so we're not allowed to be critical of any of our players on this forum (unless it's Berbatov/Carrick/Evans)?

On his day, Nani can be devasting. But he doesn't have those days as often as we'd like to see. He even admits that himself. Yesterday, I thought he was decent, nothing special apart from his cross for the 1st goal. He struggled to beat the left back on numerous occasions, in the sense that his cross just bounced of the defenders legs for a corner/throw in. The resulting corners were dog piss.

I also think he holds on to the ball longer than he needs to - thus saying his decision making still needs working on.

I have no qualms about his defensive work/tracking back because he does that really well. He's just one of those players that frustrates the shite out of me. But hey ho, that doesn't sit well with the caf. I guess i'll just have to deal with that. Somehow

He was integral to every chance we created in the first 20 minutes, Welbeck and Hernandez just squandered them. After that Norwich took control & he barely got on the ball then. Honestly what more would you expect from him coming back from injury after playing a full game 3 days earlier?

I think I've noticed a bit more of a change in Nani's game this season in comparison to last. He's been less about beating his man and whipping in a cross and more about linking up superbly with our forwards and midfield using his close control and one touch passing. He's not as productive so far this season but he's probably more involved in the build up than he ever has been.

He's not hit the form of last season just yet but he's getting back into his groove. Once he starts beating players easily again thats when we will know he's back.

i think some people find more joy in finding something wrong with a player rather than just appreciating what said player brings to the team.

And every fecking time they get criticized, they spit out 'oh so we can't be critical? .....'

It's so annoying. Just grow up and actually think about why people are strongly disagreeing with you. There might be something to that. How can you say such a statement when for the most part on the Caf, we are pretty critical but in an attempt to be more balanced?

You cant just say something inaccurate for the sake of being critical and not expect to get some flak.

Started well and then he was pretty average really, but after Norwich scored he really did play a massive part in taking the game to Norwich, the ball through to Giggs for the Welbeck headed (not headed actually :)) chance was especially scrumptious.
