Nani's been our most important players. I'm not saying that it will ruin our chances to win the title or something, I'm saying that it would a huge blow for us creating chances and scoring goals.

In what way are we fecked if it doesn't ruin our chances to win?

Of course it is a blow to lose a key player, but we have shown before, both this season and before, that we have the squad to cope with losing key players.

This is awful news if true, we now have to rely on Park to tear open the defences of Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea.:nervous:

Nothing new then?

The only thing from the presser on manutd.com is:

"09:41 Sir Alex has just completed his pre-match press conference. On United's injury problems, he didn't name names but did say he hopes to have "two or three" players back training today ahead of tomorrow's match against Liverpool."

Surely he'd have mentioned if Nani had broken a bone?

Ahead of a match against the Scousers, I'm not sure he would have said anything trustworthy either way.

Well had there really been a 2 month injury to Nani Fergie would of mentioned it so one would imagine he's touch and go for tomorrow and if not tomorrow should play against Stoke

Has there been any explanation about his absence?

Nope, Fergie didn't say much before Liverpool and there are no press conferences before a mid-week league game.

Friday, 9:30 it is then.

"We're hopeful Wayne Rooney, Nani and possibly Ashley Young will be fit for Sunday," Ferguson told MUTV.

Hopefully he isn't rushed back like last year. That caused big problems in his form. Valencia and Park are playing well so we can still cope better in terms of wingers than most other areas.

No mention of him being included in the squad to face Ajax? Shame on you caftards.

Great news that he's back, can't wait to see him and Valencia hit top form together.

Yeah him and Valencia both on form will be terrifying for other teams. The 2 best wingers in the league quite comfortably and both lethal in their own way.

I'm sure he'll get game time against Ajax too.

Brilliant news to hear Nani is back. An in form Nani and Toni will really help our push for title glory with the run in.

Load of bollocks. I'd be surprised if he was offered 100k.

Saying that, he's on around half the salary of Young, which is quite... baffling.

Eh?
He's already on 90k(according to that report) and I can see him being offered more than 100k. He's our second best player and deserved to be paid like that.

Well Young is on 100-130k.....why would Nani accept less? Less than Rooney, Vidic, Rio or even Evra...sure I could buy it as they've all earned their stripes, but Young....no, he'll definitely be matched to him or a bit more, 150k at the most, but probably 125k(and Young is most likely on 100k rather than the reported 130.)

Is he actually? I know it's not that long since he signed a new contract but I didn't think it was that much

I know he's our second best player, though not many outside the club see that as the case. Still, if it really is true (it's the Sun after all) then I'm glad the club and Fergie acknowledge how important he is. Young is just on daft wages really. Valencia should be on more than him too.

I don't think Vidic or Evra are on over 100k. The most consistent wages floating around for Young is 120k which would make him our next highest after Rooney.

Anyway, we can afford it, Gibson was on 200k :)

Young certainly is not on 100k or one of the highest paid players. Nani deserves a pay rise and be one of the top earners

Nani deserves a pay rise and hopefully he signs a new deal soon.

The Sun are suggesting that Nani will be offered a new 130,000 a week deal, negotiations to commence in coming weeks. No quotes.

If true that's great. He deserves it. Nani's been one of our stand out players and though he does still receive a lot of criticism, he creates a lot of chances for us too, and when he's in form he's hard to beat.

Here's the article (awful headline though): Man United news: Nani in talks over megabucks new deal | The Sun |Sport|Football

"Nan Bread"

The Sun has outdone themselves with this.

If true, it's great to keep your best players but where does it leave us financially? We've just seen the wage bill is at an all time highest. if Nani gets another £60,000 a week, thats another £3.1m on top.....

Then, who gets the next pay rise and by how much? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we aren't going down the Arsenal route of playing such a hard ball that you lose your best players but that doesn't mean it isn't worrying.

Sign him up, sign him up. He's now one of our marquee names, the loss of whom would make a statement about the direction of the club.

Well we don't actually know that do we? It could be the case that the combination of apparent interest from both Man City and Liverpool in his services together with the lower transfer fee that we had to pay due to him only having one year left on his contract, led to him being offered a significantly higher pay package than he was really worth.

Of course we dont so we cant say he earns 130k either. I just find it unlikely since our top players are around 120k, 140k (again, if you can believe the papers)

Welbeck is still to sign and he'll get a big increase when he does. The twins are due new contracts pretty soon although I don't think they've justfied a big jump in wages due to their injury problems. There's Pogba as well if he ever signs.

It is a concern, I agree, but the key to dealing with that ever increasing wage bill is to grow your revenues at the same rate (or greater ideally). You also have to take some tough decisions on certain players who aren't representing value for money (hello Dimitar).

We're continuing to acheive significant underlying growth in revenue (mostly in the commercial division). Despite that growth the CL group stage exit will mean that total revenue this year will be flat(ish) compared to the last financial year but you have to expect that our on field performance in the cup competitions will significantly improve next season.

Arsenal's revenue has been pretty flat for a few years so they've had to keep wages under control and that means not offering Nasri £150k+ per week. They had to build a new stadium but funding it by tying themselves into long commercial contracts is really hurting them now. The value of their key commercial contracts are completely uncompetitive compared to their peers. You're talking about £20m-£30m straight to the bottom line every year and if they had that then suddenly there's a much better chance of retaining their best players.

Rio calls him Naan Bread.

Also, I find Must fecking hilarious. Any positive fecking news they just spin to fit their agenda.

I love how they've tried to turn the revenue growth into a negative by saying that costs have cancelled it out and so it therefore can't be seen as a positive from their perspective. These are the same costs (wages) that MUST want to see more of, aren't they? More investment in the team is what they want to see. Of course this wage increase is rather embarrassing for Mr Green and MUST after they spent the entire Summer briefing the press that our transfer activity wasn't very significant because it would apparently lead to an overall reduction in wages for the coming season. Opportunist bullshitters, the lot of them.

Are you fecking serious?! Ashley is on £120,000 p/w. What the hell has happened to the world!

Edit: Young, didn't mean to come across all pally with him. Just forgot to enter surname.

He was poor in first game against Ajax, but he wasn't that bad yesterday IMO, it was solid performance, nothing more, nothin less. It's obvious they gave our wingers hard time in both games, but he was good in first half yesterday, eventough second one wasn't that good, but you can't expect nothing special from his if rest of the team isn't playing well too. They were all okay, Nani wasn't nothing better than others, but he wasn't nothing worse too. He will catch his form in next few games I'm sure, I'm specially expecting big things from his against tottenham.

We had only one goal attempt in the second half and it was from his great individual play, hitting the post. We'll see better Nani with every match he plays, great to have him back!
