Literally not. Guardiola is playing 4-3-3 with fullbacks not 3 CBs and wing-backs, which is what you said we'll switch to and everyone will wise up to. And Sane and Sterling are as wingers as you're gonna get in the modern game and in that formation.

Concentrating on one point and completely missing the rest. The point is that they rely on width from their fullbacks, so the "wingers" can do other jobs. Hence why they spent so much on fullbacks last summer.

Yes they're playing 4 at the back but the logic is the same in that it's fullbacks who expected to give width rather than the wingers.

If you think that Sane is not providing width for City and playing like a winger, then I don't think we can I agree on much.

Mourinho suggests that United is a club that can only target only one super star per summer contrary to City/PSG: a lot of money on a single player. In my opinion, the super star will be certainly a central support striker or a playmaker like Griezmann or Dybala.

I would be surprised to see the club spending a lot of money on a winger.

A player of "real quality" is likely to be much more expensive so should you keep your money for the summer given the limited options in winter?
 
Can't warm to this one.
On the one hand, he is a better pure winger than anyone we currently have and we desperately need a productive winger.
But on the other, I think he'd be way too inconsistent to actually make any real difference to us.

He’s been there for about 4 years and hasnt lived up to his potential in the fecking French league. Why do you want him, just for the sake of a signing this window?

We’re in need a quality winger, someone who isn’t a stop gap we can do better than Lucas.
 

Globoesporte have gone with the story two, they do not quote french sorces but quote sources in brazil.

Yeah, this signing would not effect the Galactico forward summer signing we're all hoping for. I don't see any reason to object to it on those sorts of grounds.
 
Can’t see this happening. Reckon he’d be a good option though. We desperately need a direct RW.

Nope they say " information in brazil is that he will move for 25 million euros while french newspaper le parisan say PSG have set a price of 40 million euros for him". They also say, he was hoping for a return to brazil on loan so as to try to make it in the world cup squad,But Psg will only sell.
 
Having watched him only a handful of times, he seems the type of winger who is far more comfortable at cutting in from wide areas and carrying the ball. From my understanding of it, Mourinho was looking for a winger - like Perisic - who would consistently carry the ball out-wide before delivering a cross. Given that we have Lukaku up front, this would seem to make perfect sense. I like Moura, but he's not the winger I feel we're looking for, unless Jose feels like he can take on that role. If not, I'd rather stick with our options for now, then invest our money in a more "traditional" winger that would probably suit our forward play more whilst adding another dimension to our attacks.
 

Information circulating from Sao Paolo FC is that Lucas Moura is on his way to Manchester United for 25 million euros. The newspaper "Le Parisien" published that PSG would have stipulated price of EUR 40 million. Sao Paolo monitored the situation, if there was a remote chance.

You make is sound like Lukaku is a target man. Sure, he's good in the air, but that's a bonus. There're many other ways to get the ball to him.
 
For that price you can't really argue if it's true. He will be a good option to have on the right.

He was a regular until two of this generations best prospects came along. 19 goals and 11 assists isn't flopping by any standard.

Arguing he didn't live up to his potential doesn't really tell the whole story given the hype that surrounded him initially. Inconsistent but he's not a bad player by any stretch. He's a better RW than Mata.
 
Nothing conclusive but many reports running with this now. It could really be happening.

I don't follow. So look like the fee was agreed around 25mil, but what's with PSG demanding 40mil?
 
I'm not excited about this potential signing but I'd rather have Moura on board for the rest of the season rather than go with what we have currently. If the transfer fee is around £20m then it would be worth it.

Brazilian source says United are closing in on a 25 million euro deal for Lucas, but also mentions that Le Parisien say that PSG are quoting 40m euros for him. I'm not sure why the second part was needed to be said, if their own sources told them a 25m euro deal was close.

We keep signing these players and are than surprised we can't keep up with City...

His information in Sao Paolo is that he is joining for 25m but Le Parisien have said that PSG want 40m.

sao paulo football club is his original club, they might have a percentage clause in his deal so the author of the article states that information in Sau paulo Fc is that he will move to united even though a french newspaper has quoted his price at 40 million euros.
Clearly information from his old club will be better than information from a paris based newspaper as they might have a percentage to earn.
 
I haven't been following PSG but based on some of the posts here, would it roughly mean that we're signing a player similar to Valencia/Young (back when we signed them of course)?

He's good at scoring with his head...he's crap in the air lets get that right...men 5 inches smaller win the ball more often than not!

That is how Guardiola currently use him. With Walker providing width on the right and Sterling sporadically getting in the box, Sane hogs the left wing to compensate for Delph's inability and nous to cover the whole wing like Walker does.

To be precise, leparisien says that PSG wants between 40m and 45m but that it is exaggerated, basically Paris are trying to get as much as possible. The didn't say that he was going for that fee.

However, his football IQ is quite low : he tends to make the bad decision, isn’t creative, tends to be a one trick pony cutting inside which made him quite predictable when he had playing time for us. Over the last few years, he unfortunately didnt improve much. That , combined with younger and more talented players which were more suited to our play style cost him his place in the team.

I think that he would be great in the PL. And he still managed to score quite a few goals for us despite all his weaknesses.

My opinion: He is fast af. One of the fastest in L1. He lacks creativity and sometimes solo too much. Not that good when it comes to crosses. Cool technique. Average shooter. Imo he just doesn't fit in our style anymore, we need more vision/team play/creativity from players.

I don't see why he couldn't be a starter in some other team. He can and will score goals when given time on the pitch and trust from manager. Basically he is that type of a fast winger who runs behind the defense very often and can do 1v1 thanks to his skills. But hey, I haven't seen him for a while, so maybe I'm wrong in some things. PSG can be hard for some players to keep their focus and maintain improving themselves. He is one of those imo.

Like who though? Wingers are a rare breed right now, if we can get him for around 25m that’s an absolute bargain. We can afford another at that price anyway!
 
Dont understand the hate with this guy?

25 years old with his best years a head of him. He doesn't have to come to united can easily swan off to China or Italy and take it easy but happy to come work for a notorious hard coach to work under in crappy weather whilst us trying to catch up to city. Show's a little bit of character if you ask me which is refreshing!

He has bags of pace and thats what we are missing on the side. No one knew who perisic was last year but everything cried a river when we didnt sign him.

Im 100% behind the signing and you never know he might just surprise a few of us especially for that price!
