New wonderkid. Ademilson. Think they have had him for a while actually, just wiki'd him but it was doing the rounds on twitter that they've signed him.

I am very happy that the team qualified # Manchester and wish I was with my baby

correct translation.

I am all in favor in paying clubs their player's worth. However 30-50m for 19 yr olds are a bit over the top especially since a lion share of that money ends up in the agents pockets and not the club that had produced them.

In a perfect world only Neymar would be commanding that sort of fee and the rest would be balanced accordingly under that. Unfortunately, for some reason young Brazilian players seem to cost a lot more because they are Brazilian.

^ Nah it doesn't happen, no players but English ones carry a premium, every body else is dirt cheap apparently. ;)

Guy's ass? WTF?

I suspect he's calling you an asshole...cuzão sounds better though.

Not entirely the whole picture considering that he can also play central which imo is his best position, there he has Oscar ahead of him.

Don't agree on any level, personally. He's not got the composure or organisational skills that Menezes clearly feels is key in that role - most clearly shown in him highlighting the importance of Ganso at the beginning of his reign - so he's not really an option. I don't think he's best suited there either, although I've no doubt it's his ideal role. Is this just a thinly veiled attempt at saying Oscar > Lucas?

Sao Paulo line up new Moura deal

Sao Paulo are ready to offer Manchester United target Lucas Moura a new improved deal in a bid to keep him at the club.

United have made the highly-rated winger one of their top targets this summer and have already seen one bid rejected by Sao Paulo for Moura.

Moura, who is currently away with Brazil at the Olympics, has revealed he will not make a decision on his future until after the Games in London.

Sao Paulo's director of football, Adalberto Baptista, has admitted they may look to extend the 19-year-old's contract as they look to fend off United's interest in the attacker.
Extension

"It's possible we change his contract," Baptista told UOL. "He has four more years of contract. We may call him to extend, renegotiate his contract, maybe for 18 more months".

Baptista also played down rumours that Moura's parents had travelled to England to hold talks with United insisting it was only to watch their son in the Olympics.

"His family went to England just to watch the Olympics, they had already told us they would," added Baptista.

"They want to follow their son, like any parents would in a competition like that. There is no negotiation, no talks, anything.

Moura has found himself playing a bit-part role for Brazil at the Olympics and Baptista feels the player should be playing more than he has so far in the tournament.

"Lucas is now focused and it's in our interest he shows his best football, even though he is not being given as much playing time as he should at the national team, but that's just my personal opinion," concluded Moura.

Shit, its off then. Quick! The the Van Persie thread!!

I find it interesting that people don't actually seem very excited at the possibility of us signing a player of Lucas' quality. All the excitement seems to stem from us signing someone for big money.

This is transfer games.

The club know that if they don't sell this year United won't come knocking again.

They said they could offer him a new contract. They don't want to cause a fan revolt by admitting they want the money, clubs don't operate like that with their best player.

What a massive, massive coincidence that Sao Paolo talk about offering him a new contract on the last day that they can realistically get the maximum fee for him...

Just ran this through Google translate...

We really want to sell Lucas for shit loads of money quickly. If only Manchester United can find it in their hearts to pay a little bit more, just beer money really, for our already over-priced teenager then we'd be happy enough. It would pay for a nice little holiday for our my sick mother. If they don't pay more though we must say that we wanted Lucas to stay all along and were never trying to flog him, honest. We'll give him a new contract, extra few quid a week, and hope that next year someone is willing to pay more and we'll be quids in.

It's over lads. We won't improve our bid, neither we should, and we won't even repeat our previous bid by the look of it. Sao Paulo thought they could squeeze even more money out of us but it won't work.

Yep, stop dreaming guys. Unless they take a step back, lose face and decide to ask us whether the previously rejected bid still stands, this deal will not go through. We have shown before that we refuse to budge when it comes to the limits and values we have set ourselves.

No more bids from us.

I'm not usually a transfer pessimist, but I'm inclined to agree with this. It's hard to see it happening after SP lose 10% of their stake, unless Lucas himself is anxious for the move, and is willing to sacrifice his increased share of the proceeds. The most likely outcome now is that he stays put.

You have been utterly useless in this thread. All 20 of your posts have said nothing about him. The gist of all your posts has been 'Don't get Lucas, no need for him, too much money, they can feck off, hope the deal doesn't happen'. And again this is as if you are part of the staff or something. It clear you don't want him here, then why keep commenting and saying the same shit again and again.

Yes I agree that the reason Mano is not playing him at CAM is because he doesn't bring the balance Oscar brings to the whole midfield and attack so to speak and for Brazil especially that is important though I do think that position is where he will be strongest if he plays there for whichever club he goes to.(But I doubt any club will initially try him out centrally at first or indeed for a few years)With craque's its generally that the coach has to accept some deficiencies for the whole team mainly because the craque is so important attacking wise, with Lucas the coach probably feels its not going to be worth it.

What I was pointing out was that Lucas has not broken into the side because the coach clearly feels that he won't make the team sufficiently better and is second choice in central and wide positions.I don't think Hulk being Hulk has a whole lot to do with it, Lucas should have grabbed his opportunity and established himself earlier I feel.

It was an observation rather than any thinly veiled attempt.

Which is possible. I think I read that he is on 10k a week at the moment. A substantial pay increase could reap benefits over a long term rather than collecting the extra 3 million.

Say we offer him 50k a week

He will earn an extra 40k which would increase his wages by over 2 million in one season PLUS would probably get a decent signing on fee and maybe increased sponsorship potential. Would obviously depend on how much the new deal SP are talking about is worth but there is an argument that a move would make him better off than the extra 10 percent of his rights

That's kind of my logic.

The way I see it, there are three relationships in this deal - the player & club, the club & United and the player & United. Now, people are treating it like the player's position is absolutely fixed and it's up to the relationship between the club & United to find a happy medium when, in truth, the player should be the biggest variable of all three.

As much as both clubs obviously benefit from the deal going through, he arguably has the most to gain over the long term. As such, I would say that United's position is fixed and Sao Paolo's position is also relatively inelastic with all the possible movement (in terms of how much money he makes from the deal...) with the player.

But, that's my logic speaking. Probably nonsense.

At this stage, if lucas does not push the deal through, it wont happen. i' d prefer someone who really wants to play for us, like Kagawa, than someone coming just for the money. It's lucas turn to show which type of player he is.....

I don't understand your point at all. He either is an option for attacking midfield or he isn't...I don't think he is, and if he was as good as Kaka at his peak there I still don't think he would be. He's not considered because his style isn't suited to the role in Menezes' setup, in my opinion at least. The only role that he is suited to is the one Hulk's occupying, and obviously Menezes has decided it's time to finally give Hulk his chance. He's one of the overage players so it's hardly a surprise he's being picked either.

It just seems like a long-winded way of simply saying Lucas isn't good enough. I don't think it says much about Lucas' quality that he can't get ahead of Hulk, personally.
