Not really hard to chose if one club pays twice as much as the other.

Oh and Paris is a very nice City, not that this would actually matter but it's still a convenient excuse to not entirely look like a money grabbing mercenary.

The kid is 19, paid twice as much? What the feck does it matter?

If he goes to PSG and we are legitimately interested then he's a cnut.

He will get a bigger paycheck, better surroundings and will also a guaranteed starter, it will set him up for the future nicely and then a big club will come in for him. If a big club doesn't come in then he will still have dollars and a great city. Not really surprising if he does go to PSG, a few years ago it would have been preposterous but now? Its normal

From a professional point of view it's fecking retartded.

United or PSG?

Seriously?

To be fair to him, he would be an automatic starter in psg unlike at united. Also he would be paid more, and live in a more attractive city, and in a team that will compete for all trophies available soon. Obviously we are currently a much bigger club playing in a better league but that's about all we have over clubs like psg.

he would have developed better with us, but if he's chosen a crapper league just for money, over development, so be it, we were not desperate for him, it was just he was exceptional, maybe now we can get that midfielder and sign Nani long term.

L.Moura talked to 'Folha' after the game about PSG: This is the good thing, I'll stay at SPFC until the end of the year. It's well underway'

That's that, then.

Goes with the reports that it's all been agreed with PSG and he'll join them in January.

If Sir Alex really did stay behind to complete this deal, then it is disappointing.

But otherwise then just add him to the list of Robben, Essien, Mikel, Benzema, Villa, Ozil, Sanchez, Nasri, Sneijder and Hazard - and move on, it's not like we're lacking in his position anyway.

truth is united cannot compete in the transfer market...

Spend this bloody £30m on a midfielder, if we don't get him. I would have liked him here altough I wasn't convinced that we actually needed him (if we keep Nani). Hopefully the funds will be diverted elsewhere but I think we're finished for the summer.

Watching ESPN Press Pass, Gab Marcotti has repeated a lot of the rumours we've heard in this thread. He tells it like PSG hijacked the deal but we never had an offer accepted. He mentioned the role of Leonardo in the deal in regards to his relationship with Sao Paulo, and with the fund that own 30% of Lucas' economic rights being involved, etc. He also says that PSG are in no hurry to get him into the actual first-team, they are happy to leave him in Brazil until at least January, maybe longer, as long as they own him. He doesn't think there's been an expressed agreement between them and his club, so the €45m figure isn't set in stone, but PSG are firmly in the lead.

As ever how much of this is actual information from him, rather than repeating Twitter crap - only he knows, but there's not a lot new there.

The fact of the matter is, as long as we are owned by the parasites, we can never compete, we have to accept to buy the best talents we have to pay he odds, as we did with Rooney, I just hope the IPO is the first step in them selling us, as without the debt we can compete again, if not more and more psg's, Chelsea's , city etc at going to pop up, making us look small time, in comparison, Lucas is PSG's trophy, everyone knows if we are seriously after a player we have done he research, they just wait until we reach our limit and then bam, we get gazumped. Sad state of affairs, if we had the money, we would have concluded earlier, like chelsea , instead we were dilly dallying, acting like bigwigs and were shown up for it.

Yep, we often miss out on the top players up for grabs that we go for or the players with lots of hype/interest around them.

Crazy isn't. Well we can compete but could never compete with Milan and Real/Barca in the past and now in some cases, with the smaller sugar daddy clubs added to that. We probably don't need him and would be fine without it, its not even about Da Silva but it would be nice if the biggest club in the world could pull out a big signing a bit more often that we do. That wouldn't spoil us IMO or turn us into those mentioned. Just a bit dull so far this summer, hopefully SAF pulls something out the bag adding to Shinji turning out great for us. Lucas is a lot of money for unproven potential but it seems most players we go for who are wanted we look silly on. We do alright with PL signings though.

Would be nice to have the full £110m or whatever to reinvest if need be, I do admit.

I don't want mercenaries anywhere near this club. If his heart isn't 100% fully committed, well good luck to him at PSG then.

Don't think he's a mercenary, just under the thumb of his agent and his father. Both of who will get a huge pay day from any move.

Sky Sports thinks its a done deal. He's supposedly said as much himself. Cock's well and truly in boys.

Lucas Moura has confirmed he is likely to join Paris St Germain to dash Manchester United's hopes of signing the Brazilian teenager.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his interest in landing the midfielder last month and he missed Sunday's friendly against Valerenga in order to try to push through a deal.

The Red Devils had appeared close to agreeing a fee with Sao Paulo for the 19-year-old, but big-spending PSG have now gazumped the Premier League club.

Reports had also suggested that United were unwilling to meet the demands of Moura's agent and that the player had been put off a move to Manchester.

Moura has now admitted that talks are underway with PSG and he is expected to leave Sao Paulo in January in order to link up with compatriots Thiago Silva and Leonardo, who is the French club's sporting director.
Focused

"This is a good thing," Moura told Folha after Brazil's Olympic Games semi-final win over South Korea. "I'll stay at Sao Paulo until the end of the year. Things are well underway."

He added to Globo Esporte: "No doubt that would be better because I can help Sao Paulo a bit more. I have always said that I want to win a title before leaving and qualify the team for the Libertadores Cup.

"If it happens in January, I'll be able to do that for Sao Paulo.

"I'm focused on the national team. I can only say something after the Olympics. It's well underway, but not done.

"I talked to Thiago Silva and Leonardo, they said many good things about the club, the project they are implementing there."

This guy wasn't going to make a difference for a couple of years anyway. Disappointing to have another player renege on an agreement with us after voices from our camp sounded supremely confident.

It's finally over. I must admit that I'm a bit disappointed. Having said that, paying that much for a youngster is definitely too much.

Hope this doesn't spell the end of our summer transfer activity. Need a central midfielder and left back regardless of Lucas.

Plan C for "dribbling attacker" can wait. Hazard and Lucas didn't work out and you'd think this was the main need of the team. It's not. Rather we strength in the areas we need to rather than keep going for these attackers we keep failing to get.

Most of us had not heard of this guy, let alone seen him play prior to this speculation. Why are we getting so worked up about his transfer/non transfer?

Like I said before, people seemed to be willing on this transfer more out of wanting any big money signing to happen. I feel a tad frustrated more because there's just 3 weeks left and there's still no talk about potential transfers of players in positions we need.

Van persie, Modric/moutinio, and Isco would do nicely

Sahin instead of Modric/Moutinho and I'd agree, can't see us meeting the wage demands of either of those two on top of their huge transfer fees.

If Fergie has other targets then I won't be too bothered, however I fear he will say he is happy with the squad and no more signings.

Same here - let's also not forget the Leonardo factor. He s very well connected in brazil especially with sao paulo.

I said this a couple of weeks back.

Think it'll be a 'go with what we have' speech.

Not fussed about Lucas - seems a whole load of hype over an inexperienced boy.

Not sure Ligue 1 and PSG is the best breeding ground for a young player trying to fulfil potential.
