Television Love Island 2019

What a fantastic show.

Another scripted fake fight.

Another scripted head turning.

I watched last years as I wanted to see what everyone else was banging on about. I despite my I bet this is a load of tosh got hooked as the teaser for the next episode meant I had to watch it to see what happened

This year I've mostly been reading posts on here/ a book while it's on in the background, it got good when Maura was introduced but now it's got really slow and dull, I half hoped the drink being thrown over Molly was drama. Oh no it's part of a challenge.
A lot feels scripted maybe its because of comments on here but oh Amy and Curtis are fighting- send them on a date. Maura finds Curtis manly- manly he is not. Them all jumping in the pool last night etc etc.

I think the people have been less likeable this year just very generic forgettable people, only really Maura and perhaps Ovie stand out, there also seem to have been more people this year, most of which are quickly forgotten. Last year you had "loyal" Georgia, hapless Alex, Dani and Jack who were likeable etc etc

Jordan asking Anna to be his girlfriend now questioning it  but again is this scripted in response to the public not liking them and them being at risk last night?

Oh great I was right the drink throwing is part of a challenge

Tbf, they've done this challenge multiple times.

Normally its what islanders have said in their private chat rather than news headlines, but I don't think they're were trying to suggest the drink throwing wasn't apart of the challenge..

Don't know about you guys but I'm really looking forward to Anna getting her comeuppance this week. If she's voted off before this happens I will be peeved.

Ya she's not a nice person at all - likes stirring shit even though she has made same decisions as those she bitches about. It's a popularity competition until the end, public will vote for who they like and not who the supposed "strongest couple" is. Her having a tantrum about that is laughable.

Said to my wife that Jordan's head will turn, he's a young lad mad for the ride - no chance of settling down yet.

The timing for Jordan is weird after making a big fuss about asking her to be his girlfriend. He should have ditched her weeks ago to be fair because Anna is unbearable. If he thinks getting with India will improve his chances of getting to the final I'm not so sure because Ovie's popular and that wouldn't go down well with the public or the villa.

Absolutely this, man is going on about sleeping with 100+ girls, is only 24 years old - he is just with Anna until the next thing takes his fancy. It happened with that Jourdan girl, she turned him down. Now India.

I think he's probably pissed that Ovie took his woman and he's out for revenge.

There's no way somebody can be that stupid right? It feels way too setup, like Anton with the shopkeeper.

You guys are so funny

You'll complain about Anna damn near every day, she's this, she's that, I hope this happens to her, why is she still here etc

But then when nothing happens 'this show is so boring now that everyone is getting along'

And now that she's in more drama, everyone is excited again - which no surprise because you need big characters who create drama and division for a show like this

If you spend all your time hating them then you're falling right into the traps laid out by the producers.

Exactly.

But because everyone hates Anna so much, they'll lap it up anyway.

@villain I'm forced to watch it so let me revel in her unhappiness because the show is awful and this is the only consolation for me.

She's a disgrace.

Tic tac mouth aint got NOOOOO chance against my boy Ovie. Lets be real. And dont mention adolf i mean anna. fack u massive spanner.

This gon' be good :D

Even when she’s being shafted, she still comes out looking worse. I just don’t like her at all, how can one person do so much wrong, like she has no redeeming qualities.

She’s the kinda woman mums have nightmares about their son‘s bringing home one day

All you need to recognise in this show is that a) most of the people in the villa are awful people and b) most of the fights and splits and recouplings are scripted and staged

Leading to c) none of these will ever be an item in the real world

So how do you explain all the couple's in the real world that started on the show? Some with kids now too.

Tonight's has promise to be interesting who was it throwing the water on Molly in a preview Though no doubt its misleading footage and they had to do it as part of a challenge

Need to start seeing some dumpings I thought there was only a week left?
Hardly misleading, it was pretty clear that it was part of a challenge given they were all sat side by side on a bench in the challenge area.

Not to mention that same challenge has been in every season so far.

Chris should have gone all out and left that breakfast at the doorstep to show Harley how much he appreciates her.

Real talk though, a fecking apology breakfast with 'sorry' cut out of toast. Jesus.

I didn't watch any of the past seasons but a cursory google tells me the success rate is sitting at about 3 out of 26ish couples still going?

Obviously if you throw enough young people together for two months at a time something is bound to stick.
Theres like 3 from season 2 alone who are still together to this day. Married and kids. Plenty more left the villa and broke up a significant amount of time after the show (which completely normal, isn't it?).

Its actually something I give the show, like anywhere in life you can find a relationship out of it, that can work.

Love Island is purely for entertainment, not for finding love - that's a load of tosh (even though a mere few have worked). Firstly its all forced, having to to go in there and couple up otherwise you're booted out, secondly it's like being on holiday and you're trapped with people throughout the day, so it's nothing like the real world. Nothing about it screams a natural way of finding love.

None the less, entertainment wise much better than big brother I think. For dating/relationship shows, I always do think first dates on C4 is the most genuine one out there.

Question for the people who think it’s largely scripted/staged, how do they logistically do it? As in are we thinking the producers pull certain people aside and say “I want you to kick off tonight as soon you get the chance” or “you need to go after XX”.

I’m not saying I think it’s legit cause a lot of it feels very fake I’m just interested to know how they’d manage that without somebody leaking it to the press that they were given instructions.

Pretty sure it's been confirmed that this is pretty much what happens.

For you the viewer, sure.

Can I ask, have you watched seasons and did you keep up with their lives after the show finished?

Not sure about scripted but I've read a previous contestant (Zara Holland) say that there is a voice in the walls that tells them what to do and how producers live in the basement that give orders.

I think that must be to get best camera shots and no bloopers? Not really sure how legit that is but it's definitely not what it seems from what viewers watch.

Yeh I know that contestants have mentioned they have to communicate to the producers if they’re about to do something by literally whispering into their mics things like “I’m going to pull Maura for a chat” so they’re ready with camera angles etc.

But actually instructing them who to crack on to and who to shout at seems a bit unrealistic.

Good product placement for Gelatelli Ice lollies there, all islanders conveniently having an ice lolly at the same time.

Not really, I've watched half of last season and this season, that I'll admit. My judgement is purely based on how that kind of environment can be deemed genuine in any circumstances. It being a TV show so fame, the structure of the show - like being on holiday, a money prize at the end. I really can't see any links on there that has any resemblance on the outside. It's two different worlds, that's my point.

Mind you I'm not bashing the show, I think it gives great entertainment but to find genuine love seems far fetched.

Fair enough, but different worlds or not, if two people are compatible then two people are compatible, aren't they?

Hence why more often or not they do go on to have relationships on the outside. Whether they end or not is a different story, but a relationship ending is a completely normal thing.

Cant stand Anna and Jordan has gone about this poorly but Curtis you little s**t stirrer!!

They will definitely want Jordan, Anna and India all left in to see what happens, it's the first exciting action in about a week.

Bye Chris and fake lips Harley

How’s it going?

I haven’t seen any of this year. Thinking my tagline needs a change
