Television Lost: The Final Season

There hasn't been a major death this Season yet, apart from maybe Juliet but a lot of us expected that after 'The Incident'. I can see Jack sacrificing himself to save everyone else. I've always liked Jack, through each Season, am I the only one? A lot of people seemed to dislike him. The writers have apparently said the ending will be very powerful and emotional.

No I agree, Jack is a good character, I've never understood the hate. I guess a lot of people have always compared him to Locke, who has probably been the best main character throughout the entire 6 seasons.

My fave character has changed over the Seasons

Season One: Jack/Locke
Season Two: Charlie/Hurley
Season Three: Charlie
Season Four: Can't remember, maybe Ben
Season Five: Sawyer
Season Six: Not sure yet.

Oh and Desmond in there too for basically every season from 2 onwards.

Desmond is obviously the shows best character, he's just never really been a central character, even though he is important to the plot.

Sawyer has been consistently my favorite, followed by Ben.

I'm a complete Locke fan, I've been waiting for as long as the program has lasted for the writers to do something good for him.
Now I've given up. He has been screwed over the whole way and thats not going to change. Its so fecking annoying because you can see Jack, Sawyer and Kate (who are all complete nobheads) getting a happy ending, but Locke will probably be fecked over as per usual.

Locke was a bit of a dick at times too. He murdered Naomi for one, got Boone killed, blew up the Hatch, etc...

Desmond's been my favourite character throughout brutha. Locke started to annoy me with his faith-in-the-island-crap and Jack's starting to do so as well now a little bit. Sawyer would probably be my next favourite due to the nickname giving. He acted his arse off this season as well.

Several of the deaths in Lost have come like that, for me
But this was in cold blood. At least Boone's was an accident. Locke just waltzed and threw a knife at her without even warning her or giving her a chance to restrain. That was definitely murder.

I didn't like how they just killed Ilana off. She seemed like she would've had a bigger role, then BOOM! she's gone. It was fair enough to do that with Arzt because he was just a side character but this was a bit ridiculous imo.

I also don't get the Jack hate/Locke love thing that prevails....Locke became an extremely one dimensional character towards the end of season one. Then about half way through season two he swapped to a faithless wreck who whined and did some really stupid things for a couple of eps, then swapped back again, then back again, and just nothing new for ages...And as Solius says, did some fecking idiotic things in the name of his "faith. His flashbacks got pointless and repetitive as well (the one with the hitchhiker? that was quite pointless) as we all were just waiting for the one where they showed us how he was crippled for ages.

Terry O'Quinn was so good though that no one seemed to mind his character was a massive cock end at times. This Locke is easily my favorite since season one...he's better now.

Jack I've always liked, and Fox has always put in good performances when called upon, but again he's suffered from a series of similar archs....but that's just a casualty of the show not having an end date for so long. Sawyer has benefited from starting out a relative villan and thus having the most profound arch, and the most to work with. Ben similarly, because it just makes them more interesting. Both actors have knocked it out the park when called upon really.

Desmond would've floundered as a character if he'd been as prominent as Jack or Locke I think, even though I agree he's a complete lege. It helps he's been a periphery character with a big role in the mythology.

All in all, I generally root for Jack, and I don't get the hate either....Kate on the other hand, has become a completely useless character who hasn't changed since day one.

True I agree...same with Desmond and Ben really, since they've both had big hands in mythology eps....But don't forget that probably the best moment in Lost was a a Jack moment.."We have to go back!"

 Ahh Jackface and Jackbeard. Such memories.

It would've been incredibly frustrating, but historically iconic....no one saw it coming, and it came just as everyone was saying it was losing it's ability to captivate. Also whether they ever got off the island was a big question then too....Brilliant season ending that. Can't really see it being topped

Yeah, I had made up my mind to stop watching LOST after S3 after the shenanigans on the island and redundant flashbacks. But the finale pulled me in back.

Bearded Jack amused me no end.

I think Hurley has always been a favourite of mine, mainly because i enjoy the comic relief and he has an interesting link to the island.

Jorge Garcia is a terrible actor. It was painful to watch him try to go through a range of emotions in Everybody loves Hugo.

The acting isn't what it's about for me when it comes to Lost (although the actors of Desmond and Richard have put in fantastic performances which have definitely improved my enjoyment of episodes). If I'd wanted to concentrate on the acting rather than the fantastic story telling, and the plot, then I would certainly notice some poor quality....Ilana for example is terrible

I just made an observation.

Terry O Quinn for example has been brilliant in his portrayal of the Smokes, separating him from Locke needed a lot of acting cojones

True.

It's the same with some of the poor CGI they've used. I tend just to pretend i didn't see it and move on.

I thought Jack was OK early on in the series but got a bit tedious with his hissy fits and his rivalry vs Locke. Since season 5 he's been generally cool though.

On my facebook page, I have a 'Random' photo album, full of random pics.

One of them, is of Desmond, brother

I can barely remember the first few seasons anymore but I remember that Kate kept seeing this horse which appeared from nowhere on a few occasions. Was that ever explained?

After re-watching before Season 6 I can remember them all very well now.

I think it was just a real horse, Sawyer saw it too and Kate went up to it and stroked it. It's not too unbelievable considering there have also been polar bears and cows.

If I remember correctly didn't that horse have something to do with Kate's past? I could be making this up though.

Yep. This has been really bugging me though:

Do you lot remember that scene when Hurley first saw Jacob's cabin? He peered in and saw Christian sitting on a chair. Then an eye jumped out at him. If Flocke was Christian then whose eye was that?

Well the Others had horses (during Widmore's time), and I'm assuming it decended from those. It was linked to a horse seen in a Kate flashback which caused a car crash, leading to her escape from Edward Mars. Sawyer said something along the lines of "do you know that horse?" but that was pretty much it. Could be Smokey, could've just been a horse reminding Kate of her past. Doubt we'll hear anything more on the matter.

I really hope they don't abandon this one. Personally I'm still thinking Smokey may have lied about being Christian, or perhaps he isn't all the time. The fact Christian's body dissapeared both originally, and also in the alt-timeline suggests there's more to it than we've seen so far. It would be a frustrating mystery for them to leave unsolved.

The eye was of one of the crew as at the point of filming they didnt know who they were going to cast as Jacob iirc so they just got someone to stand in.

I think you're thinking of the bearded man in the chair we see briefly. That was one of the cameraman or something similar as, as you said, they didn't know who they were casting as Jacob yet. I think the eye was also meant to be him, I'm guessing around that time they just wanted to create a mystery about Jacob.

Well no, we know now that it wasn't Jacob in there. The writers wanted us to think it was Jacob in there at the time, and my guess is that they didn't have an idea of what they wanted Jacob to be yet, or even whether to make him be real. So the eye kind of put them into a corner now we know/assume it was just the Man In Black in there.
