Television Lost: The Final Season

Atleast we finally got to know what the smoke monster is.

The episode could have been better if they hadn't showed the alternate universe/reality bollocks where the island is underwater.

It does explain what the Island is in terms of actual world mythology.

And I think most people should have already known what the smoke monster is.

Few things that stood out for me:

Firstly the way Desmond disappeared from the seat next to Jack. The only theory here must be that he's jumping through time like he did in "The Constant".

Secondly the conversation between evil Locke and Richard. The "nice to see you without your chains" or something and the way Richard recognised him. "You!". That was pretty awesome.

Ok erm..some points then.

- I can't decide what to make of the flashsideways. Part of me feels like they are a bit pointless, and another thinks it must be going somewhere. Desmond appearing and then not being there gives me hope that this isn't just a pointless device to show us what would have happened had they not crashed.

- As for the on island events, I thought they were great. How did Juliet know it worked? I knew Sayid would come back to life, however it begs the question why go to the lengths to prove that dead is dead in S5?

- Although Locke is still in the show it makes me sad that actual Locke is dead and his last thoughts were 'I don't understand' :(

- Are we to believe that Richard arrived on the Black Rock maybe? It was a slave ship after all. We really need a name for the monster/fakelocke/jacobs nemesis.

- Already we kind of already knew, it seems Jacob protected the Others because he believed they were 'one' with the island, and now the Temple Others know he's dead he can't protect them from the Smoke Monster, hence the ash and shiz. I wonder why that stops him though?

I hope Spoony didn't watch that, he'll have had an aneurysm

- Thats exactly how I feel about it

- Juliet knew what worked? As far as i'm aware we still dont know what she was reffering to?

- I'd be surprised if real Lock doesnt come back to life in some way

- I would say yes also he's known as MIB or Essau or quite simply, Flocke in the geeky circles

Dead probably still is dead and I don't think its a stupid idea to assume that Sayid may now be Jacob because when he wakes up and talks his accent seemed to be gone.

It should also now be clear that both Jacob and smokie are angels which is what i've always suspected and if I was to take a guess at who the smoke monster is I would say lucifer not in the biblical sense but in the torah sense(in other words not the same character as the devil)

Also, my god was it tempting to click on this thread in the past few days.

It also seems that in the alt timeline, the events of the last 30 years have been changed because of the bomb detonating. The island sunk, which means Ben is dead, all the Others are dead, The Dharma are still dead, the Swan was never built, Desmond never came to the island, Hurley never became 'cursed', Locke actually went on his walkabout (though he may have been lying)' Wait doesn't that mean Widmore is dead? Which means Penny was never born.

Holy shit I'm confused.

I'm confused as to what to do with myself now. All I've done for the past few weeks (if I'm not going out of course) is come home from work and watch Lost in my rewatch. Now I'm fully up to date I feel like a little lost child.

I just hope they don't make another one of those big ass breaks half way through the season.

What a premiere btw. Loved every second of it.

You don't have to use spoiler tags anymore to talk about the episode. Its out now. Spoiler tags are if you want to discuss and "spoil" further episodes.

Otherwise people who want to discuss about the current two episodes will be clicking on spoilers and not knowing whether its going to be about current episodes or future episodes.

Jack's father's coffin going missing is also interesting and the guy that told Jack at the counter seemed a bit weird to me, like he knew why it was missing but couldn't say.

Makes me think there will actually be a point to the alternate timeline. That and Desmond being there as someone mentioned earlier.

:p

Yeah I kinda chalked that up to "anyone would be nervous if they had to tell someone they lost his father's body and don't know where it is" but now that you mention it I do think it might show up again.

Spoiler that shit up! Remember this is an ENGLISH forum and not everyone downloads it. Wait till Friday to post spoilers without tags

Oops my bad, sorry if I spoiled it for anyone.

I like the Other that looks like John Lennon, he's cool.

Tbf, I doubt anyone who hasnt seen the ep would come into this thread untill theyve seen it anyway so the spoil risk is low but I think Smurf is waiting till Friday and we all know what hes like..

Ever watch Deadwood? He was in that, as is the dude who plays the bad guy wearing black on the beach in the S5 finale.

Few things I'm even more confused about now:

How could Ben call smokey on the team that killed Alex? Why would smokey help someone, who up to that point, was doing Jacobs bidding?

Also the MIB is not using Locke's dead body. He's just simply taken his form without the body. So then why was Christian's body missing from the coffin?

There is a theory that there is more than one smoke monstor, 3 to be exact.

And did you not think that maybe the Christian thing is completely different?

I just had a thought

What if Juliet blowing up the bomb was like Des turning the failsafe key and like Des, she is now flashing through time....or in this case, alternate realities?

Think about it, in her last moments she seems realy out of it and says something about going for Coffee and going Dutch, then Sawyer makes her snap out of it and she says she has to say something realy important which we then found out was it worked.... could it be because she is in the alternate reality we are seeing in the flashsideways?

Thoughts?

Was it good? I don't have time to watch it until tomorrow.

Yes I'm procrastinating at the moment... I'll get back to work now I swear!

Your spot on i reckon.

I'm pretty sure C & L said months ago that they were going to have two main storyline (they may have said timelines but we were to assume it was 1977 and 2007/8) and that halfway through the season they would merge into one. Not sure if they meant the alternate timeline or how that would even happen but it's something to think about.

Fits with my Juliet theory aswell does that
